Finally came here to try this restaurant after wanting to for so long. First off, heads up. There is no online ordering system (unless DoorDash...but that's only allowing group orders I think). In order to put in an order, you have to call them. But that was fairly easy on my part. Ordered the three kabob combo and substituted the chicken breast for lamb as well as the mantu. The mantu itself tasted pretty good but the major problem to it is that the wrapping of the dumpling is so wet that once you add more sauce to it, it completely is soggy and the skin breaks. It's a bit of a mess to eat. As for the kabob combo, the lamb was cooked really well and I loved the spice amount they used. The ground beef skewer was also really good too and flavorful. However...the beef tikka kabob was a bit over cooked. It was a bit tough to eat. The spices/flavor were there but it was more cooked medium well to well done in which I usually prefer more medium or medium rare. It's a pretty solid joint but there can definitely be improvements. read more

I feel like I've been here before but never wrote a review. Anyway, just like a lot of other restaurants open for delivery/take out. Pretty easy peasy ordering take out, walk up order and pay. I got the 2 meat kebab combo with chicken and beef. The chicken was seasoned well and tender but the beef was tough. The portion was a bit smaller than expected too. But you do get their bread, salad and rice. So it'll fill ya up. Parking isn't a issue being in a plaza. Service was friendly and nice. read more

Loved this place, the garden outside is just delightful and serene, then there is the food. I had the grilled chicken salad, nothing crazy but I will say the seasoning and cook on my chicken was excellent so I can only imagine the rest of the food. I will come back and be more adventurous next time, it was truly a great cooked chicken (I am a picky eater). My server was so kind, pleasant and I received everything I needed to enjoy my meal. By the way, they have baklava for dessert! Yes please. I've been going to Chopan Kabob for a few years now. I used to dine-in but now that I live close by I order takeout. I always order Chaplee Kabob, Bolani & Baklava. Unfortunately, the past couple times I've been the food & service just hasn't been the same. I no longer see the owner there. There is a younger gentleman working there now. Maybe the owner is at the new San Ramon location? The food was still hot, I enjoyed the chaplee kabob & the bolani was full of filling. I decided to try Mantu this time & didn't like it at all. I also thought it was weird that it comes with 7 mantu. I thought this was a very odd amount. To end the meal I ordered baklava. The baklava here is my fav. My family comes here and always orders the family special. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was in college and almost 20 years later I'm still a customer. Food is always good. One of my favorites is their dhaal - I can imagine not a lot of people think to order dhaal from a place that has a variety of kabobs, but it's delicious and wholesome, either with bread or rice. We paid for twice the Meat and twice the Yoghurt, neither of which was in the Kebab, when I asked about it the Cook in the Raiders Hat became unhinged and says I was being a racist. Chopan Kabob has got it goin' ON! If you would have told me that this spot was in Concord, I probably wouldn't have believed you. But, it IS and I'm so grateful because the kabobs here are like wow! Ironically, I've probably passed by this place hundreds of times over the past 7 years, but only recently gave them a try. Just realized that I've probably missed out on so many pounds of delicious kabobs! What am I doing with my life? Anyways, the food here is totally legit! The meats are super juicy and well-seasoned, the naan is soft and fresh, and the portion sizes are hefty for the price. I couldn't decide on which meat that I wanted, so I ordered their 3 choice combo kabob plate and chose the chicken shami, beef shami, and beef teka kabobs. If you can't choose one, why not just try them all? Yep! DO IT! ALL of the meats were a slam dunk! No shortage of flavor and no dryness were had around these parts. Only tender meats with potently enjoyable Afghan spices. Although I enjoyed all of the meats, I have to highlight their beef shami. DAYUM! Just so effing good! I took a bite out of that thang and instantly fell in love. I usually stick to chicken and seafood kabobs, but this beef shami kabob can get it all day, every day! LOVED the flavor profile on this! Compared to the other two, it also seemed to be more moist. The rice was cooked perfectly and the salad was simple but refreshing. That naan, though! Served fresh out of the oven with steam still coming off of it. As a matter of fact, my entire meal was served piping hot! As far as the food goes, it's an A+ for me. Now, about that service; 'twas minimal. Didn't receive the best service... basically didn't receive much service at all. It's pretty tiny inside and the place was packed. There really isn't a waiting area, and people were cramming inside of the lobby to stand inside because it was cold. Speaking of that, I was sincerely freezing my ass off! They sat me next to the door and had the nerve to have the door open the entire time while it was cold outside. It was so uncomfortable, but at least the food was delicious. If you're sensitive to the cold, try not to get a seat near the door because you'll be freezing. If I was just rating the food alone, it would be an instant 5 stars. However, the food coupled with the minimal service and uncomfortable room temperature will drop them down to a solid 4 stars. Came to this location after several years. We had been going to their other location which is closer to our house. We had lunch today and loved the food and the service. Each dish was appealing to look at. Tasted really good. Was freshly prepared. Prices were reasonable. We ordered far more food than we could eat. Came home with four boxes and a bowl. Having just moved to Concord, I was "flying around" (zooming and panning ) on Google maps to get acquainted with the area. I saw Chopan, made a mental note to visit, and forgot about it. Several weeks later, while out in San Leandro visiting Koolfi Creamery (which you must visit if you're craving a sweet surprise with heavy South Asian notes), its two friendly owners and I were talking about Concord and things to do here. Their recommendation was unequivocal and unanimous, I had to visit. Ever since, friends and acquaintances began underscoring how much they loved this place when I brought it up. Needless to say, I'm now a regular ‍ If you dine in, expect to jostle for parking. I was at another location and was not satisfied with service. Owner or manager was very rude, he almost kick us out, when we was drinking teas and enjoying deserts. And to be honest, food was very delicious. But rude behavior and lack of customer service ruined everything. This time also upset at this location. Portion very small and over fried. After you finish eating, you have to let waitress know about it. Otherwise she don't even look at your table and don't clean. But if you ask her to clean. She will ask you pile all dishes for her.
