Very happy with my order. I've had their food in the past but i was very hungry yesterday and this hit different! I was swarmed by kids in my house begging for some because the smell appealed to their senses. I was not aware of the curbside pick up, so i went in to pick up my take out and they were a bit aggressive. However i understand. We can't take chances with COVID. This used to be the best place for Portuguese Barbacoa. However, most recently the quality has decreased somewhat. The fries are not the best. The bread is just American rolls instead of the crusty European bread we all know and love. Half the ribs were underdone. The other half was great, nicely charred. The flavor is still fantastic though. Another time, the pork in a stew was underdone. We know that the meat should always be tender. And more gardiniera would be appreciated. But overall great flavor, once again. And the rice should contain more peas and carrots, please. I called in an order to go and the food was ready and got when u got there 15 mins later, total plus. It seemed busy and this was a Saturday afternoon so that was a good sign. I really liked the pork ribs and the chicken wasn't that bad. The fries however were a bit pale and JUST cooked and lacked salt. I'll start by saying that this is a very clean establishment, which I love. There wasn't a greasy feel to it or too strong of a bbq smell where you walk out smelling like a piece of chicken lol. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a chicken and rib combo, which comes with yellow rice and fries. Everything was great. The rice was nice and loose, the fries were crispy, and the meat was delicious. It was a little on the salty side but no harm done. If anything, it made the bbq better. In the end, the waitress offered coffee and dessert but we passed. I did see cheesecake and chocolate cake amongst other desserts, all of which looked very appetizing. Problem is that when I picked it up exactly 25 mins later the food was cold by the time we got home. Now let's take portions. Paid almost $20 for maybe 5 very small pieces of chicken and two strips of very tough fatty beef ribs. Had a whole alot of rice I suppose The garlic shrimp were overcooked and some of them were not properly cleaned (which leads me to believe they're just bought frozen) the only redeeming part was the actual garlic sauce that tasted pretty good. The food here is good however if i had anything to critic this place about would be there rush hour time. Usually around 5-6 pm it takes 40 minutes - 1 hour to get your food . Service is alright but it takes way to long to have your order ready. Any improvements ? I must say, upon the recommendation of my cousin, I have recently become a regular to Chop Spot. This place is the definition of a "hole in the wall" eatery. This restaurant is tucked away off of Stiles Rd in a strip mall in Linden. Chop Spot is a popular place in the area serving authentic Portuguese cuisine. They have a charcoal fired pit cooking up delicious meats. Lunch time here is typically busier than your average eatery in the area, I advise to call ahead of your in a rush. As far as the food goes, I have never been near disappointed by any of the menu items. I come here very often for their lunch specials. $5.95 for fall-off the bone chicken or pork ribs, Portuguese rice and fries. CANT BEAT IT! I've found the quality of the ribs however to be below par. Too much fat and very chewy at times. The chicken on the other hand is absolutely delicious. I HIGHLY recommend checking out this local small business and supporting them. There's a lot of competition in the area, but since this place is close to me I go here most often. They do deliver and the food is prepared quickly. It's also very affordable. The portions are a nice size. My food can last for two days, and I normally pay under $10. They also have a lunch special Monday through Friday that's even cheaper. This place isn't fancy. There's a few tables, and Ido notice people dining in from time to time. I suggest doing take out or delivery because the dining in experience might not be the most enjoyable. However, even when it is not busy, it is still unacceptable. The people who answer the phone have terrible attitudes. I have received something other than what I ordered more than once. I question how accidental it is. I get the feeling that they made their menu too big, (they have a large selection) and therefore when it's busy, it's kind of like...well too bad, you wanted this but you're getting this instead.
