We compared them with others both in the Waldorf area and the "big box" stores and their materials were better in terms of cost and quality. The installation costs were better than others as well and worth every penny. 3. Fantastic quality of work. The crew that came in and installed the flooring were extremely detailed and were very meticulous about putting the furniture and other items back where they found it. 4. They are a local business. We like to buy local to help out our community! Our experience: We first started looking into Carpet and Floors Market back in May close to the beginning of the COVID pandemic and we were looking into having our entire first floor re-done with hardwood laminate. They had just re-opened their brick and mortar store in Waldorf when we contacted them. We looked into them because of all the positive reviews they had, plus the fact that they were a local business and they did not disappoint! Kevin contacted us and was prompt, polite/friendly, and was safe. He measured the whole area masked with booties to make sure to keep my family and himself protected. The quote he had given us was the most reasonable for materials a labor. As I mentioned above, we shopped around and they were the best. We ran into some issues with our bank (completely unrelated to them) and it ended up taking longer for us to schedule Kevin and his crew to begin work. I had emailed Kevin 4 months later asking if the quote he had given us in May was still good. It was, and on top of that, they were still honoring the promotion they had as well (despite the fact that the promotion was long since expired)! The most surprising thing was that Kevin actually still remembered us when we contacted him again. Fast forward to the installation, and the crew that came in worked super quick all while remaining very detailed in the quality of their work. They were slotted to complete the work in 3 days for about 1500 square feet of area. They tackled an awkward pantry, half bath, laundry room, family room, formal and regular dining room, living room, and kitchen all in that timeframe. We didn't even have to move anything as the crew moved and replaced everything when they were done. They took particular care to ensure that our belongings were covered as to not get dusty from the work. We had other contractors come in to fix some electrical and pipe issues at the same time, and the crew was able to work around them without causing any delays! All the trim had nail holes filled and trim around the baseboards sealed to make the quarter-rounds and baseboards look like one seamless piece. Our overall experience with them was so great, we'll be going with them again for our stair and top floor hallway project in the future - no hesitations at all! Messaged a few contractors here on Yelp for last minute projects we were looking to get done before…read morewe rented out our townhome, and Jose from Hernandez Contracting was the first to respond to my message. He was able to come by our place on the same day for an in-person quote and after deciding that we wanted to work with him, he was at our place ready to work the very next morning! He said he was able to come by to start work at 9am the next morning, but he was there not only on time but a bit earlier by around 8:30am! We had started off with 3 projects for him, which he quoted us for, but I ended up asking him if he could do more little projects, and he was able to take on anything we asked of him. He's awesome, he was even so respectful to take off his shoes when he worked inside our home. The projects he was able to complete for us was: 1) carpentry work in our garage (to secure some previous work done before we bought our townhouse, there were some unsecured wooden pillars barely holding up a wooden built-in storage shelf). Jose even told us how he would make it even more secure by adding more pillars where it would hold more weight on the shelf and be more secure; 2) filled up a hole in our wall, he was able to patch it up with drywall and matched the exact paint and by the time he was done and paint dried, you would never have known it was there! 3) he installed a new storm door for us, our previous storm door had a broken door handle, and Jose was able to install a brand new storm door that we had purchased, he even made sure that the storm door we bought was the correct measurement. 4) Jose installed new hardware on our kitchen cabinet doors, they were all aligned! He took the project off our hands. 5) upon request he was able to fix our closet door that wasn't aligned properly, so it didn't shut! When we bought the house it was like that, Jose fixed it! 6) he glued & aligned some wooden pieces coming off that were framing our attic crawl space. 7) he went above and beyond to find some new window screens that we couldn't locate locally, so he drove to another state to look for it the very same day! He wasn't able to locate it, so he ordered the correct sized window screens and installed them as soon as he could after it came in the mail! He was able to get most of the work done in just 2 days! Minus the window installation, which was done as soon as possible, once he special ordered it and after it arrived! His preferred payment method is through Zelle. Jose is an amazing handyman! He is punctual, very reliable, kept his word when he said he would come by and do our projects, and did great work in a timely manner. I would recommend him to family & friends, and we will definitely work with him again.
