Cute place. Photographs well for socials but could use some help inside. Desserts were decent. The Dubai creme puffs were good with the cream puff being the star as it should be. I was driving up from DC to NJ and made a pitstop in Harrisburg. I found this cafe next to the place I was charging my car and decided to grab a pick me up for the rest of the drive. I got the biscoff latte which was good but I wish it had more biscoff in it. The interior was really cute, they have a lot of desserts and drink options so there's something for everyone. The first thing to know is that parking right in front of the building is limited. Luckily, we were able to grab a spot pretty close, but there aren't a ton of spaces directly outside. Once you go inside, though, there's a good amount of seating available. The space is really cute and nicely decorated. One of the standout features is a fun swing-style table seat, along with booths and regular seating, which makes it a fun place to sit and enjoy dessert or coffee. Their menu has a great variety of options, including coffees, specialty drinks, and a wide range of desserts, so there's plenty to choose from if you're visiting with friends or family. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. For desserts, I tried the mango mousse dessert (the one shaped like a mango). It had a unique texture compared to a typical cake or pastry, but the mango flavor was really good. I also tried the chocolate teddy bear dessert. It was very rich and definitely for chocolate lovers. For me it was a bit heavy on the chocolate, but it wasn't bad at all. I ordered takeout, so there's not much to say on most topics but when I did pop in the store it seemed like a lovely space! Very warm environment. I stopped by here for my partners birthday as they kept mentioning how badly they wanted to try the biscoff milkshake. I got that, the biscoff cheesecake, and the dubai chocolate crepe. They were all beautifully made, delicious, and soo rich. I will mention though, if you are lactose intolerant in even the slightest amount, pop at least 2 lactaid before going! The place was very pretty and quiet. I stopped mid-morning and ordered take-out. I got a Chocolena crepe. The crepe was much larger than I thought, stuffed with strawberries and with a banana spread across the one edge. There was also fruit around the edges. It had three kinds of melted chocolate poured over top in a beautiful design. It was all fresh fruit except for two slices of canned pineapple. The fresh fruit was all delicious but the pineapple was old and had started to ferment. The guy behind the counter was very nice. And I sat so I could watch him make the crepe. It was thicker than most crepes are but the texture was like a thin slice of sponge cake. read more

Surprising that this store and Royal Chocolate on the west shore opened around the same time and offer similar experiences. They have very similar waffle, pancake, and crepe options. Chocolena offers some different specialty desserts like the viral mango that has been all over TikTok. It was delicious but quite expensive. The store is very pretty. It was clean and the staff were quite attentive. The reason I'm giving this one a 3 is based on the cost. I ordered 4 specialty desserts which were about the size of my palm and it was $38. I also ordered the Dubai strawberry cup which was mostly strawberries and not enough sauce and crunch and it was $17. I have purchased this same item in the area for $8 and it had more substance. Great start! Hope to see more from this place in the future. read more

Our first visit to Chocolena left me pretty underwhelmed. The mango dessert was good. However, the hot chocolates are $6.95 for a small. When you see it advertised on their social media, it's thick and luscious looking. My expectation was that they would make it themselves for that price. NOPE. It's just your regular powdered mix. Then they stick marshmallows in the cold whipped cream instead of in the hot chocolate for them to melt. I think I'll try other places where you get more quality for what you spend. read more

I think they may have opened recently; the guy that made my crepe seemed like he wasn't really sure of what he was doing. In the end, it tasted good and was fine, just took quite a bit longer than I'd have expected... but my crepe experience is either at home or a place in NYC that cranked them out faster than McDonald's slings fries. Nice place. We ordered specialty coffee which was good but overpriced. We went there early morning after they opened, however, tables were not clean. I've been here three times since they opened. I like to try to desserts in the display case. I've had the mango when they first opened and it was so good, was a little cake, a mousse with a fruity filling I wouldn't exactly say was mango but was good. I go again today and get the same mango dessert and it was completely different. It's full of what I would call unsweetened whip cream that has no flavor and this mango filling that tastes like nothing. So disgusting and fell apart. Meanwhile I also got a chocolate raspberry one that was delicious. I'm not sure what happened but for 10$ each dessert I'd expect it to be good and recipes to stay consistent. Pistachio coffee was delicious! Their brew contains real roasted pistachios. However, it was more expensive than a Starbucks brew. The chocolate mousse dessert was also delicious but far too expensive, IMHO. This is a shop in a low-rent Harrisburg shopping mall...not a patisserie in Center City Philly! However, I suspect the high price of the pastry reflects the use of a real gold leaf as an edible decoration. I would suggest removing the gold leaf, which most Mid-staters are not likely to eat, anyway, since they are culturally unfamiliar with this custom. Lowering the prices by $2-$3 for desserts and by at least $1-$2 for coffee would ensure a larger draw of customers. No independent coffee shop that wants to remain in business should be exceeding Starbucks prices. Other than the exorbitant prices, the food and drink are excellent. I will likely return, but only when I have $ to burn. read more
