Bacon, egg, and cheese on an asiago bagel

My favorite coffee shop to visit! And too dangerously close to me ha! Swatara is without my favorite local coffee shop to visit during the week or the weekends. Their Americano is my favorite but I also love their seasonal lattes. They have so many great options to choose from and I love when they run a contest in March where their baristas come up with "the best latte" that will later land on the menu. For the fall, I recently enjoyed their pumpkin spice latte and a breakfast sandwich. A delicious bacon, egg, and cheese on an asiago bagel. If you're in the area or passing through, stop here for a coffee!

I ordered through the Odeko app which worked very well. We had two bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches which come on toasted break and we're good for a classic sammy , but average. To drink we got a strawberry banana smoothie and a maple latte both were delicious. I love the outdoor seating options and that they have local good available to purchase.

    Some gifts/gear.

One of the great things about Yelp and Yelp events is the chance to go and try new places. Annville is a little far for us but we made it an adventure and got to try some great coffee and breakfast sandwiches too! They have a contest going on between the barista's to see which flavored latte they created gets the most orders. Many of them sounded good. But I had to get the lucky leprechaun. It was great. I also got a steak and egg breakfast sandwich and it too was great. The workers were very nice. And I loved that it is veteran owned (even better a Navy vet) they give a military discount and they had some great looking Accessories/clothing you can get to represent. If I am in the area I would definitely stop by again.

03/2021 The Swatara Coffee Company is a sweet spot in downtown Annville serving up a great latte (& food) with friendly service. We stopped in as part of a Yelp event. I enjoyed the Butter Cookie Latte & a sausage breakfast sandwich. I thought the latte was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. I like that the sandwich was made with toast. The baristas were very personable & knowledgeable about this Veteran-owned company. Great to hear that they strive to incorporate many locally-sourced products. They have an impressive selection of gift items as well as gift boxes. I would visit @Swatara Coffee Company.

Visited SCC's Annville location for the first time today. Here's my specific review and then a general review. Today was a bit overcast and unseasonably cold, so I got a hot chocolate. While I'm not a fan of espresso, the "spiced bourbon caramel latte" sounded good, so I asked that flavor combo in my hot chocolate. HOT TIP: you should do this, too. The flavor reminds me of a chocolate pecan pie crossed with a cinnamon bun. 10/10 recommend. I also got a pretty purple passion fruit macaron that had a lovely, light texture and a subtle, sweet filling. HOT TIP: let your macaron come to room temp before eating... if you have more self-control than I do. Generally, SCC has three greats: great location, great menu, and great staff. Location is nice, convenient and walkable in the heart of Annville. Outside, there's plentiful sidewalk seating. Inside, the shop manages to feel cozy yet spacious--I think this is due to storefront's picture windows and all the natural light. The shop also has tables, armchairs, and bar seat, plus PLENTY of outlets to plug in and work--a real plus. The menu is plentiful, too. Food options include breakfast sandwiches, bagels, salads, lunch sandwiches, and baked goods like bars, macarons, and cupcakes. The drink menu goes from plain black coffee, bottled teas, and carbonated drinks, to more elaborate blended and flavored drinks. There are lots of syrups, too, for mixing and watching large flavors if you've got an idea that's not on the suggested drink menu. Lastly, the staff were great. Monica had my drink made quickly and it tasted great. The other workers were very friendly, too. They also were following COVID-protocols, which just show that they care a lot about their community and it's safety!

Finally a good coffee shop in Annville! This LVC parent appreciates having the option. Following good covid protocol and has ample covered main street outdoor seating. Prices are fair, we had a ham, egg and cheese and iced coffees. Food was brought to our table promptly, and was hot, fresh& tasty. We'll be back!

My favorites are the Turkey and Brie on focaccia, the tomato bisque, and the Hershey ice cream. This place is a must visit if you're in the area. The owner (Skip Hicks) is passionate about the arts and good food and drink. He is a most endearing soul and the energy here reflects that. You just want to stay forever. You're welcome to take any food and drink from the café into the theater during the movie. How awesome is that. A true movie 'house'.

There is quite a bit of seating, lots of neat pencil portraits and art pieces are on display as decorations, and they often showcase local art from schools or even local artists' works. The atmosphere is very laid back and has been for over the year I've been a patron. I've still never had the food, but the coffee is always good and the staff is pretty nice. They added, then removed, and now readded iced coffee to the menu. They've also recently cut back the pump flavors for coffee to more sensible flavors (mango coffee = yuck!). Oddly enough, I finally realized that they have shows here. I'm not sure why I never noticed the sound equipment, but I was here one night when some artists held an acoustic jam and spoken word night. It was a lot of fun. The only complaint I have about the place any more is that occasionally they will host a live show and you'll get chased out if you don't buy tickets for the show. It has only happened to me once, but it was very jarring and aggravating as I had purchased a bottomless cup and only got two cups out of it. I know it is my fault, but I didn't see any warning or I would have stayed home that night.

We actually ended up grabbing one of the last tables in the place. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a local coffee shop. It's warm, cozy, and full of energy. You can tell it's a community favorite. We ordered two crêpes and a couple of their February specialty coffees, and everything was fantastic. One of the crêpes we got was the Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake, which was sweet, fresh, and perfectly balanced. It wasn't overly sugary but definitely dessert worthy. The other was a savory crêpe with called California dreamin' with provolone cheese, bacon, spring onion, apples, and arugula with a balsamic glaze and garlic aioli, which ended up being such a great combination of sweet and savory flavors. It was delicious!! Our specialty coffees for the month were also excellent. They had a fun Valentine's themed lineup, and both drinks were rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I got the Not Your Sweetheart Latte and Ryan got the Chocolate Heartbreak Cold brew. If you go, one thing you absolutely have to try are their chocolate covered peanut butter balls. They have Rice Krispies in them so they're crunchy inside, and they're ridiculously good. Yes, it's a local coffee shop, so prices are a little higher than a diner, but honestly it's no worse than Starbucks and the quality, atmosphere, and uniqueness are miles better. They also have multiple locations, but the Lebanon shop has a great vibe and is clearly loved by the community.

Prices are reasonable for a small business. They even have a house blend of coffee, available to drink in the cafe or beans to go, which is made by a local roaster in Cleona. The owners are super friendly and thoughtful about what they want this place to be. I talked to them about their events, including already popular book clubs that meet in the lounge area. It sounds like a great place to meet other people while talking about your favorite books. For people with kids, the children's section is super cute, and also has some cozy seating areas to peruse the books.
