Every time I order from Choco-Latte, I end up waiting no less than 30 minutes for mediocre coffee. I understand that Bar Harbor businesses are understaffed, but the employees are taking their time. This morning I attempted to order online as I was in a rush to get started with my day. I arrived when my order (a latte and a muffin) was supposed to be ready, but unfortunately it wasn't. It wasn't until 15 minutes (plus the initial 15 minute wait time) that I even got my muffin, and then an additional five minutes after that. Even then, my latte was mediocre and almost all of the ice was melted when it was handed to me. The management needs to consider taking less online orders if they can't balance online and in person customers. If you're looking for a quick bite and some coffee, try other cafes nearby. read more

A bit on the pricey side but the coffee, atmosphere, and service is good. It is a bright, open, inviting space and their music playlist is really good. The staff are the usual cafe types (high school and college kids who don't look too thrilled to be standing behind the counter), but they are not rude. While the coffee is good, the food is nothing special. It just screams "Sysco" to me. They don't seem to have problem with people ordering a drink and bringing their own lunch or snacks to eat though, so they remain a 4 in my book. I had to try the choco-latte. Not too sweet, just right! We were warmly greeted and given tips on star-gazing. So sweet of them!

This place was yummy! Stopped for a coffee, dying of thirst! The menu is huge! Lots of choices and different types of foods. I had a coffee and it was great! I had the Spicey Mexican with a shot of espresso, and it was delicious, though quite pricey (but the prices are pretty standard for Bar Harbor, from what I have been able to tell on my one day here). They use Bard Coffee beans, which I believe come from a roaster in Portland, ME. I did not have anything to eat, though from the board they seem to have only croissants, bagels, and chocolates. The young lady behind the cash register was very helpful in suggesting ways to customize drinks when I didn't know what to to order (e.g. add the shot of espresso to the Spicey Mexican hot chocolate). The interior of the cafe is spacious and sunny -- great for solo travelers who want to rest and read or check email, as well as for groups. The music was relaxing (Brazilian bossa nova and similar tracks), which was perfect after a long day of walking around. Also, the outdoor seating is nice and accommodates many people if you have a group. The free wifi was especially appreciated. read more

Coffee gives me life, so every time I visit Bar Harbor I try to test out a new coffee place. Choco-latte is a great Latin-inspired coffee shop! Lots of room to spread out with a little eclectic atmosphere. They also support local artists each month. When we went in August, they had at least 10 pieces of art from one of the local artists, all superhero inspired and extremely well done. As for the real reason of the visit, their coffee was delicious. I went basic and ordered a Caramel Latte. I wasn't in the mood to try anything crazy (blame the hangover) and my latte came out perfectly. SO ordered the house special, the Choco-latte. He said it was fantastic! It's hard to impress him with "fancy" coffee drinks so I was surprised. My only complaint with Choco-latte was the Spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate. Both times I tried it, there were huge chunks of herbs at the bottom of the drink. It just wasn't mixed properly. I'm pretty impressed with Choco-latte! read more

I went here almost every day for coffee or a latte while in Maine. The iced Choco latte is great, although they made it kind of strong the last time I got it. It's really nice inside as well. They have all these random antique chairs that don't match, which sounds quirky at first but is really quite charming. They have 3 or 4 different flavors of coffee for self-serve each day. I always was happy with mine, but my mom complained about hers being lukewarm a couple times. I was satisfied with everything I got here, though. The choco latte is really unique and tasty. You definitely should try one if you're in town. One thing I didn't like was that they had a cake sitting on the counter, uncovered, right next to the cash register where all the customers stand. I went back the next day, and the cake was still there with a few pieces left... Ick. I wouldn't order any cake, but the coffee drinks are excellent. read more

AWFUL SERVICE! BEWARE TOURISTS AND LOCALS. I'm appalled at the service at this place. I drove an hour from blue hill to come here and I was met with such a disgusting attitude cashier girl. (The 10 am barista on September 19th) she wore glasses and had blonde hair. I don't remember her name but if I did I would be listing it right now so her manager could see. She cut me off multiple times during my order and did not take the time to answer my questions. She talked in a disgustingly rude tone and even my boyfriend was angry by her attitude even towards him! She snatched the signed copy receipt out of his hands as well. Places with reputations like this SHOULD NOT ever have people like that girl working for them. She had ruined my experience and I will NOT be coming back here or recommending this place to anyone. Go down the street to get your coffee elsewhere... there you will be greeted with a smile and a patient barista who listens and can help you with your coffee order. So sick by this woman's attitude I left right away with my coffee instead of sitting and relaxing after that hour drive... HORRIBLE just HORRIBLE. Do not come here! read more

I want to start this by saying there was nothing wrong with the service. They were kind and courteous however that's about where the positives end. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel with cheddar cheese and a large Mexican hot chocolate. I ended up getting an egg and sausage bagel with Swiss cheese. Of course I have a boat tour so I couldn't go back and return it so I was like ok I'll just deal with it. My girlfriend also got a bagel with cream cheese and a chai latte with oat milk. I tried to keep an open mind but when I bit into it I was completely disappointed. The egg was overly cooked to the point where you couldn't tell if it was a real egg or a warmed up microwave egg. The yolk was so dry it was asking me for lotion to moisturize. The Mexican hot chocolate... oh wow how do I say this kindly? It tasted like it's never been to Mexico a day in its life. It tasted like tap water that someone added the Swiss cocoa mix into and then realized, "oh man! We gotta give this some ethnicity!" So then they proceeded to dump cinnamon on top and hope no one opens the lid. I've had Mexican hot chocolate... it's a made with milk and spices with REAL chocolate melted in and mixed homogeneously. That wasn't it man. And the chai. Oh man the chai? I wouldn't give that to someone suffering from taste loss from Covid. They'd still know it was putrid. All in all I feel like this place has survived off of the strength that most people here are travelers from vacation and just want to get something and go on with their day. Unfortunately I had a bit extra time before my ship set sail so I can help someone else not fall for these phony stars they have plastered on their Yelp. Great little store open year round!!! We found it today after desperately searching a ghostly bar harbor for a bagel shop. We walked in an it was like we found where all the people were! Super busy (around 11AM- we had to wait a bit for some seats but that was okay. I got a caramel iced latte which was fine. I also got a breakfast sandwich with plain bagel, bacon, and egg... so so good! The bacon was thick and well made, the egg perfect, and the bagel 9/10 excellent. You could tell it was house made. What's great about this place is that it's also a chocolate shop- so sweet (literally)! I got my mom a box of 5 chocolates for $5. We haven't tried them yet but they look great. We had an amazing pre-hike breakfast here in December. Most everything was closed, but we were so relieved to find that Choco-Latte has lovely breakfast options. We both had the breakfast sandwich which entailed of: house-made bagel, fresh fried egg, cheese of choice, juicy and hearty sausage, plus avocado and tomato. Great ambiance, too! As soon as we walked into the place it smelled awful like burnt bacon. Ordered an iced coffee with almond milk and you could see it separating. My hair still smells like bacon from being in the place for 10minutes. The 2 horrible iced coffees were $7. Would not recommend this place. Better off taking the treck to Dunkin. read more
