The food was good and so was the coffee the first time I went and although they are slow I decided to return. Customer service the second time was the worst. The unpleasant cashier walked away three times while ordering one coffee and a sandwich. They are really slow and if you say anything about it they get defensive and treat you bad for making any comment about it. When I explained my order was wrong and I was willing to pay the difference to fix it they focused on how I didn't have the audacity to say they got my order wrong and furthermore they were offended when I asked to not make me wait another 10-15 minutes in the cold. read more

So good. The Mexican hot chocolate is amazing. Also got an apple brownie. I didn't know this existed but I'm glad I live in a world where it does. Fun art on the wall, staff is so friendly and the vibe is so relaxed. They're open year-round so visit anytime. I'm not from BH so when I'm there this will be my coffee house of choice. Choco-Latte - Medium Mexican hot chocolate to go. Perfect! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Bar Harbor, Maine

On our last day in Bar Harbor we decided we just had to try this place because the lines were always so long! We wanted to see what the hype was - I can't say it was worth it ...we waited a while to place our order (there is a online ordering option - we were noobs and didn't know, so I would recommend using that). Once your order is placed there is another good 20 min wait for it to be ready even though we all only ordered a drink. So not sure if they were short staffed hence the bottleneck. But I got the chocolate latte (as per their name) and I wasn't disappointed! It was a cold day and having something warm hot and chocolate my was definitely good but was it worth the 30+ total minutes of waiting out in the cold...? Eh questionable. But this would all be a complaint free experience if we had just known and ordered online. So don't make the same mistake as us! read more

Very misleading ! The sign saying "chocolate caffe from Mexico to Main" ,but unfortunately when you ask for hot chocolate they use nasty , unhealthy conventional chocolate syrup. I guess place preach one thing but serves completely different . Also staff is clueless about what they serving there and not event trying to answer questions. Sad answer: " I don't know . I only work here ....my manager is not here" You work there so it's part of the job to know your product. Coffee was good... But don't get mislead by the " AUTHENTIC chocolate" sign in front! CONVENTIONAL SYRUP is definitely not real chocolate from Mexico that they advertise ... It's pure lie read more

Choco-Latte - They serve CONVENTIONAL CHOCOLATE SYRUP but advertise as " a chocolate cafe from Mexico to Main" ----NOT TRUE - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Bar Harbor, Maine

I feel bad, I feel bad for the ladies working at the counter as they are clearly doing everything they can with the amount of tourists (yes, myself included) coming in to Bar Harbor and ANP as covid precautions and restrictions are still in place! Some other customers are not very understanding and made some rude comments that they need extra help. If you want breakfast and coffee in the morning and there are a couple people lined up, you are obviously going to wait. This place gets busy! They have good stuff, but remember it's a small town with tons of tourists even during off season. Be patient. The bagels are fresh and delicious. We came back two days in a row for their bagels and had coffee a few times. Huge plus for the convenient online ordering system. Easy to go breakfast before or after your morning hike at ANP! read more

Got a breakfast sandwich on one of their house-made bagels and the choco-latte drink special. They have a great system for COVID lined up and you just pick up your order at the front, and they have some outdoor seating. The coffee was excellent, not too sweet and very flavorful. The bagel was chewy and fluffy - I'm not a bagel expert but I loved it! read more

cozy and spacious coffee shop in the middle of town. It has tables for customers to sit and chill.

Bar harbor is a tourist town and summer is the peak time and i am surprised they took a lazy approach of not providing any service. Asked them to arrange table for party of 14 and they simply gave an excuse they r short of staff. read more

A nice cafe with a chocolate twist sits toward the edge of town, offering coffee and Mexican hot chocolate drinks. The staff know their beans, and were not afraid to talk through the tasting points of my pour over. My girlfriend had the Choco latte, iced, which seems to be one of the signature drinks. It was nice, with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. I tried the pourover with Columbian beans, at the recommendation of the staff. This is a new bean, and had notes of citrus, and a smooth caramel body. As I struggled to find the notes, the barista took time to walk me through them, and talked me through my first few sips. Service like this always gets me, and although I struggled to identify everything, my girlfriend did. The orange cranberry scone was potent, but not too sweet, and went nicely with the citrus from the Columbian pourover. Complete the Bar Harbor laid-backness with outdoor seating, and a nice May breeze, and this hit the afternoon break my long day needed. Certainly a spot to return to when I return next month. Would recommend to serious coffee snobs and casual friends looking for a chocolate twist on the usual coffee shop. Judging by the barista here, you're in good hands, even coming from this New York coffee snob. read more

Coffee was not the best. My friend got the hot chocolate and it tasted like milk chocolate. Good wifi and place to work. Bagels were good.

Yum!! This place is so good. They used to be super slow but have gotten a ton quicker lately. Especially busy between 8-9 but not too bad midday or early morning. I always get the choco-latte which is DIVINE. Their bagels are also amazing...some of the best easily (only criticism i have is for them to lessen the amount of cream cheese they slap on). Bagels are nice and buttery, warm, and if you get a cheese bagel...you'll be headed back before you know it to get another one. It's that good. read more

Waited at the counter 15 minutes while the barista figured out how to use a pour over (pretty basic). Was never acknowledged or served. Had this place recommended and was so excited to try. Very disappointed. read more

Really awesome vibe. I was looking for something a little more low key before starting my day hiking and this place hit the spot. They have some unique flavors (I recommend the Blueberry Latte) but also crowd pleasing favorites like Pumpkin Spice. Love this place! Great relaxing space for enjoying a nice hot/cold coffee beverage anytime of day. I love sofa and comfy chairs. Great selection of coffee drinks and some yummy pastries. On our trip to Maine, we dropped in for a cold brew coffee around 7.30 pm on a Friday and were skeptical if it was open as yelp showed it closes as 6 pm. Turns out, they are open till 8 pm everyday and Yelp shows the timings wrong. The coffee was good. They had an interesting selection of pastries. read more

Really good food, service and a great place to hang out. The avocado toast, tacos, coffee and chai tea were really delicious.

Their specialty drinks (hot chocolate namely) were delicious and kept us coming back for more. Their breakfast sandwich, when available, with vegetarian sausage was delicious, too. The 2 times I ordered a pastry on the online ordering system, I didn't receive it. I had to go back and ask for it. The drip coffee was not great. And the banana bread was dry. And all 3 times, the order pickup took 10-20 minutes longer than quoted online. They're super sweet and constantly working, just think they may want to consider not having online ordering as an option right now. Also: customers, check their Facebook for any modifications to their store hours. Yelp and Google don't reflect it, and with it being such a small local business, it could change depending on the day. I want to give a 3, but my boyfriend advocated for giving them a 4. Wish 3.5 was an option. read more

Coffee is amazing at this place, Reason im giving it 3 instead of 5, is because we also wanted a bagel and avocado toast, we were told kitchen was put on hold because they were busy, and will take orders in a few minutes, I asked what did that mean? She said get on long line again and hoped we could give food order. Sadly enough they need to come up with better process. I will go back for coffee. And hopefully the kitchen will be running better. They had 3 baristas and two people in kitchen. read more

The tables are made of coffee beans in resin! There's always a good mix of locals, tourists, and students. I recommend the Coco Latte drink, but get it less sweet because full-charge will make your teeth cringe. But in a (mostly) good way. The staff make beautiful designs in the froth and are super friendly. Their tip jar is always engaging with a choice of where to put your extra cash: prince or MJ, bike or hike, etc. This place is a must when in BH. read more

No complaints here! I love finding cute, local coffee shops! Went to Bar Harbor for the weekend and stumbled upon this place. The coffee was good and perfect for a chilly day. Atmosphere was welcoming and set up well and how cute is this coffee bean table?! read more

First visit: Me and boyfriend came to this place for a late breakfast and were pretty satisfied with the food. We ordered "make your own sandwiches" (mine was simple egg and cheese one croissant and boyfriend's was egg whites, chorizo, avocado, cheese on croissant). For drinks I ordered chocolatte which was very chocolaty and bf ordered chai which he described to be watery. Second visit: Apparently they don't make their sandwiches with egg whites even though bf ordered one yesterday w no problem. I think it may have been the owner we talked to at the counter this second time. We ordered the same sandwiches. I got their brewed coffee which was good and balanced and bf ordered a decaf latte this time which he liked. Third visit: I got spiced mexican chocolate. It was watery and a lot of spice and not enough chocolate. Fourth visit: Ordered their make-your-own-sandwiches. I like their sandwiches more than their coffee and other drinks. Review is combo of experiences from all visits. P.S. I provided generous tips all of the times I paid. I didn't think it was worth it since they only brought the sandwiches out the first time I was there to our table and the rest of the times is just picking up your order from their bar/service area. I just kept tipping since I thought/wasn't sure they were going to be serving me. read more

Very good house coffee and amazing blueberry bagels! Great for a quick breakfast before a hike

Went to choco-latte for both a coffee and chocolate fix. When we came the wait wasn't long at all and we were able to order and get our drinks in almost no time. The coffee was alright, it wasn't my favorite or a highlight at all. The espresso wasn't strong or full as I like it. What made up for the coffee was the Mexican chocolate we got. It didn't exactly taste like the real deal or the way abuelita makes it but nevertheless it was really good. I'd definitely stick to their chocolate drinks since, clearly given by the name and what not, it's what they know and do best! read more

This is a nice and relaxing cafe. It had a more local vibe than the tourist hustle of Bar Harbor. Nice selection of coffees and lattes. Opted for the Choco-Latte and was very impressed. Highly recommend the choco-latte! It wasn't overly sweet like many flavored lattes and not so chocolatey that it turned into a mocha. A lovely balance! They offered almondmilk as well if you're curious. Other than that, pricey, but not surprising for the location. Dollar upcharge for almondmilk, $2 for a cup (8 oz) of coffee to go!?! read more

A quaint bakery cafe spot, perfect for a breakfast stop. They have service right from the doorway because of covid, and so are more limited on the bakery items offered currently. They do offer outside seating though. We tried the breakfast sandwich, getting it on a croissant, with egg, cheddar cheese, chorizo, avocado, and tomato. The croissant was so buttery and flakey and the sandwich was so tasty ... got eaten before photos could be taken! For drinks we both tried the choco-latte. I am not a huge coffee person so had been debating the hot chocolate but I often like to order the "namesake" item. This did not disappoint - the cinnamon and nutmeg flavors are lovely! read more

I'm a huge supporter of local business and will always choose a quaint, local coffee shop over a chain. While visiting Bar Harbor for a week, I went to Choco-Latte three times. The first time was an excellent experience. Kind service at the counter and a delicious Americano, to which I added half and half. The second visit I ordered the same thing. The woman at the register was kind. However I added the half&half and got to my table only to find the half and half was bad - nothing like a mouthful of bad cow taste in my mouth. I went up to the counter and told the woman they may want to check the half and half as it was tasting like it was turning bad. Her first response was "no one else has complained about it". Strange response, but ok. I asked that they remake my drink, which they did and they provided me with a fresh (new) carton of half and half from the fridge to use. Issue resolved and my Americano was delicious (though I'm not sure they did anything with the half and half out on the counter for everyone else). My third visit today was the final deciding factor that convinced me I need not visit here again. Once again, ordered my Americano. The girl at the counter seemed a little confused/out of sorts. I paid cash and she short-changed me $1. I didn't want to frazzle her more, so I let it go figuring the local coffee shop could use the extra funds anyway, support local, right? I got my drink and once again I poured in the half & half from the coffee counter, and once again it was bad. Maybe they're not properly cleaning/sterilizing the half & half carafe they keep out. Maybe they're not keeping the half & half properly chilled. Maybe they're pouring new half & half over yesterdays... Whatever the case, it's bad. I went up to the counter and let the girl at the till know it was bad and asked if I could get a new Americano. They remake it and hand me the fresh one, but they haven't done anything about the bad half & half at the counter. So after a brief pause I ask if they can provide me with some fresh half & half since the stuff at the counter is bad. The girl making drinks tells the girl at the till to grab me some from the fridge. She brings over a carton from the fridge that is almost empty (clearly the same stuff that's in the carafe on the coffee counter). I pour it into my Americano, hoping it's just the carafe that's the problem. No luck. It's also sour. But now I've wasted so much time asking for drinks to be remade and getting no real help or assistance, and clearly no one is owning the issue and looking to resolve it or make it better. I threw out my bad drink as I left. I won't be returning. Hopefully someone there with an interest in the future of Choco-latte will read this and start looking into the handling of their dairy products and sterilization of carafes for handling the dairy... Best of luck to you, Choco-latte. read more

Went in for simple hot chocolate and was disappointed. $3 each for the smallest hot chocolate I've ever seen. No sleeves for the to-go cups and then we take a sip... Super cool. It was barely even luke warm. Took a long time, over priced, and wasn't even good. I've been to Mexican chocolate places before and they typically have thick smooth pure hot chocolate.
