So maybe instead of ignoring people whose lives are impacted by their screw ups, take the financial responsibility for the damage done and train people better, so that they don't do damage to anyone else. Found out that I required physical therapy to learn how to walk and do my normal routine for work and photography for many months. I've always heard about how painful it can be but working with Kevin Craig almost every week now for 5 months has been a life changer. He really pays attention on my progress as I learn how to walk once more without pain, listening to week on when my pain flares up and when it does not. He adjusts my PT sessions when he knows to focus on new things to get back together. We were focused on walking and now that I can almost walk normal, we adjusted my plan to walk with carrying weight (which is important as a photographer). I really dreaded SXSW this year because of 2 weeks on my feet with my camera gear, but with my on-going PT, I was able to get through the fest and adjust how walking and weight carry with his advice! Oh, and one of the best aspects of the PT sessions is also working with Luke along side Kevin. They say laughter is the best medicine, and Luke combines humor with the specialized exercises that Kevin assigns to make the time go by fast. I was pretty skeptical that this would do anything for me and was in such a bad place mentally that I thought nothing would work and that I'd permanently be in pain. After visit 1 I experienced a detox that made things worse before they became MUCH better. It was also so comforting to finally have a provider tell me what the issue is. After a perfect MRI I really was worried and clueless about why this pain was present. It turns out that I had a pinched nerve which explains the radiating pain + the severity. I saw the dr twice my first week and my pain reduced by 90% after just 1 week of treatment. I had my last appointment today and feel so relieved that this helped me. If your results haven't improved after 3 or 4 visits, go somewhere else. If you seem to know more about what is going on with your type of injury/illness than they do, go somewhere else. I can not remember the name of my therapist but my time there (over 8 visits) consisted of heating pads and a less than ten minute massage that I was capable of doing myself. The only thing that seemed to help was a Tens machine which the therapist pulled out and used on me during ONE visit. Even though I told her it helped significantly, she never used it again. Because I did not show any progress in physical therapy my insurance quit covering my visits, but I was not informed of this until I had made 3 additional visits that I was left to pay for. When I received my bill I was shocked. I know that physical therapy is expensive - that is not what I was shocked about. My physical therapist had charged me for the use of the tens machine EVERY appointment and cited that she did this at EVERY appointment I had ever had. I was charged a good chunk of money for services that were not rendered and so was my insurance. When I called to speak with billing and tell them about the inaccuracy of my charges, they told me they would fix the bill and send it back out. Over 6 months, this is what happened, I'd call, tell them that the services they were charging for had never happened and they'd tell me to wait to pay until they fixed it. Eventually, billing told me to ignore the bills, because they were going to drop the charges. After that statement I quit receiving bills. Unfortunately, 3-6 months later I instead received a bill from a debt collector. Talk about bad service... lying about services rendered, incapable of following through on what they say they would do and then sending it all to debt collector... WOW NOW over two years later, they've called to tell me they are issuing a refund check and for a minute I was very hopeful that this was the case. BUT just like everything else, I feel as though it was a lie. It's been over a month and a half and I've received nothing in the mail. When I call them, they tell me it'll be sent out immediately, but just like with their billing issues, I'm sure I will most likely, never get the money they owe me. I half expect another letter from a debt collector for more services that I never had. *** QUICK EDIT - it's 2015 now, and no, I never received that refund.

Ironically, during my consult discussion, he mentioned he wouldn't suggest it for his dad. I should have taken this as my cue. I didn't. The plan was to repair torn meniscus or worst case scenario, clip as little tissue as possible. I went forward with surgery plan. The day of surgery, he was 3 hours late. After surgery I found out 30% of meniscus was cut. Fine. Do what you gotta do. After all, I did decided to go forward. Years later, I've had continued or worse pain since. I've had physical therapy a few times a week or the pain is extreme. It was a hard recovery with no change.
