Dr. Ron is absolutely PHENOMENAL. He's an incredibly gifted chiropractor and healer. He has that glow that certain people with the gift of healing have. He emanates healing energy. Truly. I went to Dr. Ron as a last resort because I refused to have a spinal fusion and I was desperate to be able to do the things I loved again. When I started seeing him I had just given up cooking, my big passion, because I couldn't stand long enough in the kitchen to cook. My back just wouldn't support itself. It was excruciating to stand more than a few minutes. I have double scoliosis, kyphosis, slipped/herniated disks, etc. Ron gave me my life back. I really enjoy Ron's style of chiropractic. No fancy machines to manipulate the body here... he uses his healing hands and body to make subtle adjustments and WOW. It WORKS! He's phenomenal and truly gifted. Ron also helped me through my pregnancy. I have a hypermobility syndrome, which was exasperated while pregnant. I had trouble sleeping because my hips would become semi-dislocated and my ankles would frequently dislocate and get sprained. He made it possible for me to not only carry a baby and all the weight that came with it (something orthopedic surgeons had been telling me for years that I could never do until I resolved my spine problems), but he also made it possible for my hips, ankles, and other joints to function properly and get me through the pregnancy. Ehhh...I went to Dr. Ron for a good two years. Let me say, as a person, I think he's great. As a holistic Chiropractor, not so much. His adjustments were often less than a minute and sometimes didn't even feel my entire spine. I don't ever remember him checking that my legs were the same length by lining up my heels. I can only imagine that the rave reviews this guy is getting are from people either with not a lot of experience with chiropractors and alternative health professionals, or else they are bamboozled by all the flattery Dr Burnett spouts. Of course, he does have some skills, but the main one is his ability to bullshit people. I had four sessions with Dr. Burnett, over the course of 6 days, because I was in critical condition. Each session was shorter than the previous session. On the last session, I arrived on time, only to find that the waiting room was full, with 5 people ahead of me. I was dismayed. However, Dr. Burnett cleared the waiting room lickety-split and I was in to see him in 20 minutes!!!! Do the math, that is 4 minutes per patient. My own session was also 4 minutes (I checked the clock). And half of that session Dr. Burnett was asking me about the essential oil blend that I was wearing, and telling me how I smelled so nice. Twice he said "I believe that less is more." Yeah, less for me means more for you!! If you are a newbie to chiropractic, let me tell you that there is definitely more to be had from a healer than this jiffy-lube dude. You CAN find an alternative health professional who is more interested in your health than buying new boobs for his wife or a new sports car. There are healers who will take the time to listen to you and who will work hard to help you. I am a yoga teacher and have experienced just about every modality of healing there is, from Rolfing to rebirthing, from hyperbaric oxygen chambers to chelation therapy, from shamanic energy healing to trauma releasing exercises. After three years as a patient, it's time to update my review. I deliberately waited till now because I wanted my update to coincide with the office's relocation to their new digs just a couple blocks East of their original location. I will admit, I loved the old location. I found it to be charming and adorable. While I know they did need more space, I was sad that they were going to leave it behind. I'm over that now. New location is all shiny and new. It's evident from the start that the layout is far more conducive to the needs of the office. When you walk in and see Cindy and Heidi's smiling faces, you also see that they have ample room to function. After you're checked in, you are taken to what I will personally be calling "The Bed of Wonder". It's a table that you lay on that massages/relaxes you before you're seen. Oh, Bed of Wonder, I want you for my very own!!! Go - you'll see why. After The Bed has finished with you, you're led to The Inner-Sanctum Waiting Room. When it's your turn, you're then seen by The Good Doctor in his new uber-Zen adjustment room. It's extremely relaxing, and feels completely different from the experience in the other office. The lighting is ambient and soothing and the room is cozy and inviting. This review has been more about the office than who is in it. Still the same wonderful, caring people that I have grown to love over the years. I'd go to see them if they were in a shack, but I'm glad they are ensconced in their lovely new home. I used to really love this office. I enjoyed the community style clinic, coming in and laying down and being able to relax before being seen. But things have changed- now they say on the phone, "we have an opening at 12:00 noon" which lures you into a false sense of security and, Hello- scheduling power. Wrong! No, show up on time, and then wait for the 5 (or more) people in front of you to be seen. No laying on a treatment table, either. Just sit down in the waiting room and...wait. I had a car accident last year, and the office eagerly jumped on the "don't pay now, your insurance settlement will cover everything" bandwagon. It was my first time having any sort of accident, and I wish I had understood more clearly how it was going to play out. Basically, for the exact same amount of care I would normally receive, it seems like the bill was doubled. Anyhow, I don't understand their policy at this office, but I would have been better off purchasing a package deal and saying screw the settlement. I did finally receive the settlement, a year later, and finally paid off my balance. But it's bittersweet. I've had chronic alignment issues most of my life, and have thus seen a lot o' chiropractors. Dr Ron is good, but I think if he truly wants to serve his patients, he should consider closing his books for a while, thinning the herd. He now has earned the dubious honor of being the chiropractor to spend the least time with me for a session. Our last session, I left with an upper back issue completely unaddressed, after a super long wait and my 5 minutes with the Doctor. I'm sorry that this experience has left me so cold, but I've referred dozens of folks here over the past couple of years, and now I wonder if that was a mistake. I can't say enough good things about Ron - he's a really great guy, an amazing chirorpractor, and is very caring and compassionate. I've been going for about the last 10 years, my kids go, and I send my friends. Recently I hurt my back training and couldn't even stand upright. I was in a lot of pain and was worried that I might have done something permanent. I felt so much better after the first adjustment and was good as new after a couple of weeks of more adjustments. If I could give him six or ten stars I would. There should be a Yelp rating that goes to 11 for people like Dr. Ron. Everything that the other reviewers say is true in my experience. So I'll try to add a few things that others don't. First, you can buy a package of 10 sessions that give you a significant discount. Not only do you save a bundle, but I find I go more often for my monthly tune ups if I've got the sessions already paid for. He's got some parking spaces in the back of the building and there are usually some open. I don't want too many people to know about that, so promise to keep it a secret so I can always find a spot. He can get backed up some times like any doctor's office. So if you are in a hurry to get in and out, make sure you tell the receptionist and she and Ron will do their best to get out out of their quickly. And he doesn't skimp on the adjustment, even if you are in a hurry. read more

I've thought abt whether to post this for over a year. I was recommended by a trusted colleague to Ron at Inner Sun after an exercise induced injury involving my right hip. He recommended 12 sessions, 3 a week. After the first two series of three I felt better and was excited abt the progress I would make in my overall health. After the first session the third week, I drove to dinner and could barely get out of the car. I couldn't walk on my left leg - NOT at all an issue previously. I told him abt the problem the next day. He was closing for a week or 10 days + over Xmas break and encouraged me to get a massage. I got a massage which made things worse. I literally had trouble walking for months. I never went back to him - don't know if he could have corrected. All I know is that in a critical time of year for my work he caused me to be worse off than I'd started w a new problem. I do see all the raves from others. Highly Recommended! Not one of those quack shops that try and get you to spend a fortune on x-rays so that they can have cheap liability insurance. If you go to a Chiropractor that requires you to get an x-ray before they touch you, leave, run, get out of there before they sell you a bridge in Arizona. Chiropractors do not go to medical school and learn radiology and are not medically certified to interpret x-ray images. Ron is a real effective and qualified chiropractor. He is a minor miracle worker. I was recommended to him by a friend of mine name Kathleen D. and have been coming back ever since. I have sent other friends of mine and they in turn do the same. What to expect. When you enter this former house on west 6th street. The entry area and waiting room is pleasant and the wait usually short if you have an appointment. You will be directed into a room with 4 tables and be shown to one of the tables. You will be told to take off any belts, wallets, watches and place them in a basket at the foot of the table. Ron will come around and ask you a few questions, then have you lie down. He will leave work on a few of the other patients and then come back to you and do a couple of adjustments. He may leave you alone again for the work to settle or you to relax. This may happen several times or just once depending on your issues. I saw Dr. Ron after having continual back pain from being a hairstylist for 11 years and to help with my poor posture. He is wonderful! I felt so much better after my first visit. I've been doing a 10 visit treatment with Dr. Ron for alignment and ongoing changes. His ability to look at my body and talk about my issues is almost clairvoyant. It's remarkable to experience and even better that he can give me advice on how to sleep, carry myself throughout the day, etc. to help me feel better physically and mentally. Dr Ron is an incredible chiro. He has been helping me for years and though I abuse my body through rock climbing, biking, etc, he is always there to give me initial relief as well as give me a plan on preventing future issues. Though I seem to get in and out of there in a very short amount of time, I never feel that he won't take the time to answer my questions. I really appreciate this. I often pop in before lunch, get adjusted, and still have plenty of time to go eat and get back to work. Also, Heidi and Cindy, his assistants, are incredibly friendly and helpful. It is hard not to feel better just walking in and seeing their wonderful smiles. They are always going non stop keeping the office in order and making sure everyone gets taken care of in the best manner possible. I had never visited a chiropractor and was skeptical, however a close friend recommended Dr. Ron for my increasing back pain. After 6 weeks of sessions, the first 2 weeks I visited 3 times a week, the second 2 weeks I came twice a week, and the last two weeks I only had to come once a week, my back pain was gone. As I sit here typing, my neck has been released from stress-induced bondage and I'm looking at a computer screen that is three inches higher (yes, I measured) than it was two hours ago. Doc Ron really is a miracle worker. He's given me a better quality of life, that's for sure. He even helped me figure out that I had a food allergy that was causing so many of my symptoms -- something that traditional medical doctors didn't even suggest after i went to them and had bloodwork done. He really cares about his patients and will explain to you in detail what is happening to your body, why it is happening, and how to correct it. His office is very relaxing after you get over the fact that you are in the room with sometimes up to three other patients. I cannot believe the 2 horrible comments written on 8/1/11 and 8/9/11 about Dr. Burnett and his practice. He and his staff are human and may not be perfect, but I first saw Dr. Burnett as a chiropractor 10 years ago. I have terrible back and neck pain and have often thought that I might not be alive today if I had not found him. I have much experience with both chiropractors and various other holistic practitioners and have always found Ron to be helpful, professional, and to have the utmost integrity. If I showed up in his office, and he thought someone or something else would help me more, he let me know. I think some people need to stop looking for him to be the magic fix and take a deeper look at their own lives. It's very easy to lash out at others when we hurt, when perhaps we should be listening better to what our bodies are telling us. When I first started going to Inner Sun, Ron worked all by himself. You walked in, signed your name, and left whatever you could afford to pay on the counter. He has done a tremendous job of growing and refining his business over the years. I remember telling him that his rates were too low and that he deserved more. He was unwilling to raise them at that time, not wanting to put more burden on his people. I would hate to see how much I owed him if he counted up all of the times I simply showed up at his office and fell down on his table in a heap of pain and tears. He never turned me away, whether I had money or not. If you're in this situation, just visit with him or his staff. They will be more than accommodating. My family and I have been seeing Dr. Ron since the summer when I was in a bad accident. He was my first stop after my accident, I had very little pain thanks to him! Best. Chiropractor. Ever. Just amazing. I've suffered from chronic back pain since an injury in 2006, and Dr. Ron has been the first person to ever successfully treat me -- in just a matter of weeks. In my experience, Western medicine doctors just don't do what Dr. Ron does so successfully -- listen carefully, understand your problem as it relates to the overall balance of your body, and treat you consistently and gently. I have been so impressed and pleased with the care I've received at Inner Sun. I'd highly recommend him to anyone, but especially athletes. Dr. Ron saved my life one day about seven years ago after I woke up one morning with a severe crick in my neck and was going to be giving 4 massages that afternoon, and he's been healing and helping me ever since! He's absolutely one of the best practitioners and healers in Austin. The office is in a lovely old house on W. 6th, and he works in a room with four tables so he can be working with up to four clients at once. He really does know all his clients, as Lucky D. mentioned, and he conducts the open room beautifully, checking in with you several times while you body might be relaxing face-down or supine with bolsters in preparation for the adjustment. Then, he comes back to you, and he only focuses on you while he's adjusting you. His adjustments always feel complete and thorough, just what my body can take and not too much more. I sometimes leave and wonder how I ever went so long not feeling that fantastic. His adjustments reset my world! He is extremely healthy and active, and he always has a suggestion for a stretch or exercise to help or a referral to a massage therapist or acupuncturist or someone else that will be just right for you. My experience with Dr. Burnett was incredible. He came highly recommended by a friend. I had been suffering from back spasms on and off for a couple of years. I was experiencing the spasms for about the first week into the course of the treatments but they started to lessen and were not as intense. From start to finish, Inner Sun is a great experience. Cindy, the office manager, is sweet and helpful. She runs the busy front desk with just one other employee, but her manner is unhurried and stress-free. Stress-free pretty much sums up my whole visit, actually. Once I filled out some paperwork, I was shown into the shared room where the adjustments take place. It sounds weird, but seeing the other patients and how chilled out they were actually helped me to relax. Dr. Ron is just the best. He immediately pinpointed my problem, which is bending from my lower back instead of at the hips. He talked to me about my habits and patterns, and asked me about my motivation for living healthier. His whole style is conversational and casual. I'm usually a little anxious about the adjustment, but Dr. Ron fit the adjustment into a natural part of our conversation, and I didn't really have time to freak out or think about it too much. As soon as the adjustment was done, I felt lighter, and all the little aches and pains I usually carry around were just gone. It's a great feeling, and I am so grateful to have found a doctor who can really help. Check-out was easy and painless. The initial fee of $67 is quite reasonable (I don't have insurance, so that is much less than I would usually pay) and my next visit will be even more affordable. Dr Ron is incredible! I was a chiropractic skeptic - working in the yoga industry and having seen many healers over the years, I was convinced chiropractic work would be harsh, forcing my spine/frame into positions not based on my body's natural structure. Well, after a herniated disc and going through months of western medicine, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture and more, I finally gave in and tried Inner Sun. I am so glad I did! Not only am I nearly completely well (fast approaching "better than new"), but, thanks to Dr. Ron I avoided having to take the dreaded path to surgery. When I started receiving treatments at Inner Sun, I had been through nearly a month of sleepless nights (two hours of shut-eye per night, at best.) After a week (three treatments) I was up to four hours, and after another week (three more treatments) I was miraculously up to a normal amount of nightly beauty rest. Now, a month later, I'm getting adjusted once a week and am ready to start exercising and practicing yoga again. Even better, I can see my posture improving, am engaging once-dormant muscles and feel positive changes throughout my entire body. It's true what some reviewers have said: his appointments can be quick (depending on the number of patients), his approach to adjustments are initially conservative (which I appreciate), and his studies in/use of Chinese medicine result in advice/insights that are not run of the mill (although, they really resonate with me and reveal some of the deeper reason for dis-ease in the body.) By coordinating with the seriously awesome desk gals, you can make wait-times much shorter. Also, if you're really confused/concerned, just ask him about any topics that worry you! I asked about the occasional lines/short visits and his answer made perfect (and earnest) sense. (too much to write here after this short-novel of a review - he explains it all so much better, anyway.) I now plan to make chiropractic work with Dr Ron a regular part of my wellness routine to ensure I don't slip back (literally) into bad habits. I want to say that Dr. Ron is one of those rare individuals that have truly found their purpose on this Earth. The second you meet him you realize and can feel that He 100 % LOVES what He is doing. I grew up with a father who is now a retired Chiropractor. I had the advantage of being adjusted throughout my life growing up and realizing the power that Chiropractic can have at keeping your body in a healthy state. When I left home to go to college I began realizing like most things that not all Chiropractors are created equal. I have probably been to over 40 Chiropractors in my life having lived in Iowa, Nebraska, Hawaii, California, and Texas. I can count on one hand the number that I would go back to. If I was counting those 5 great chiros that I would go to the last finger when counting Dr Ron would be my index finger because He is truly #1 on that list. Dr. Ron is a great chiropractor! He's responsive, calm, knowledgable, and friendly. I really enjoyed my visit to his office. However, he loses a star because his office is too popular (if that's a con) and the wait time is long and cuts into the actual time spent with the doctor. You'll have to be willing to wait a little longer for visits to Dr. Ron. read more

I am sometimes my own worst enemy when it comes to taking care of my back/neck. My neck has chronic issues from old injuries. Despite that, I'm still playing on the computer all day, not stretching enough and lounging in bed for far too long. Sometimes I go out dancing to 80's music and circle-headbang until I can't move. A 33 year old woman should know better! Oi! Dr. Ron manages to not only relieve my self-inflicted pain but puts a spring in my step. Whenever he adjusts me, my endorphins are Flying! I come out of a 5 minute visit feeling as relaxed as though I'd had an hour massage. One adjustment puts my silly ass back out on the dance-floor for another month! He's fantastic. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Ron to me this morning for the pain that I was having from running. I figured I would go down to his office and try to be seen today since I was so uncomfortable. His staff was very kind and said they would do their best to work me in and low and behold, they did!
