Nice staff working here. My visit here was late night on a Sunday, probably around 1 AM so I don't think it was the best time to visit. Post pub crawl food and ambiance. The only things that I felt that were a sure bet "good to eat" were the French fries (AKA Belgian fries) :) They were fried crunchy and the sauces are good. 5 Euro for a nice size medium paper cone full of fries (plenty for one person). They have at least 15 different sauces that you can choose, and some of them sounded a bit exotic... like a Thai peanut mayonnaise with onions. I tried the Belgian mayonnaise, which was a very rich mayo. The other fast food on offer, like the dürüm wraps, just didn't look that fresh and they were opening up plastic bags and taking the pre-sliced and cooked meat out and putting it into the wraps. This was actually about 2 minutes after I got there, and they announced they had stopped making sandwiches / wraps, and only were offering fries because it was late. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and think it's probably much better during the day. But the crunchy late night fries are good! And everyone seemed to be enjoying what they were eating. There is also a McDonald's next-door and a couple other sandwich fast food and pizza places that are open late a block or two away for more variety. They rip off tourists for sure. I ordered a 13€ meal and it came to 20,5€. When I questioned how it added up they said 4€ can of soda, which they could have said anything since the prices for drinks weren't listed. The price for that was high but that's not the issue. They then proceeded to tell me the sauce on the burger, which I didn't ask for nor did they ask me if I wanted, was always an extra charge. Which is never mentioned on the menu anywhere. Finally, when I said no sauce please, he showed me the price of 18,5€ but when I checked my CC statement he charged me 20,5€ anyway. That's actually just unethical business! These little hole-in-the-wall fish and chips places are everywhere in Amsterdam, it seems! This particular one had a few tables outside to sit at; there was nowhere to sit inside, only stand...the place is that small. I don't think you'd want to make a meal of this place, but when you get the munchies, either from walking around or, ahem, "other" things, the food here will quiet your hunger. We only tried the fries, because we were feeling snacky. We were offered different sauces, but being the good Americans that we are, we opted for ketchup. The fries were served in a paper cone, which is convenient if you're on the go. I'm glad we tried it out. The wait was a little longer than I would have liked in the very cramped restaurant (popular spot) but the price was great and you can't really go wrong with fries. There are multiple Chipsy King in Amsterdam. It is worth a try if you are around one. I will recommend the samurai sauce. It is very good.

We were Looking Forward to having a Snack at Chipsy King. Both staff members saw us walk in with our dog and greeted us friendly. Only when had settled in one guy talked to us from behind the countrer and said "hallo, but dogs are not allowed". We tried to clarify, that they both saw us walk in with the dog and didn't have a Problem with it until we had settled in. Also, there is no sign at the door saying, that dogs aren't allowed. Furthermore when we pointed this out to them one kept saying "sorry, thank you, really sorry, thank you" to brush us off! If it was possible, I would have given no sign at all! Having a dog-not-allowed-sign on the door is one Thing, but this is a whole other Situation! read more

awesome fries! my first meal here in amsterdam and trust me my expectations were high! but these golden hot potato delishness were everything i dreamt and more! had a large cone with garlic sauce... soooo good! altho the sauce was a bit too salty.. i wonder if they do white vinegar? i mean then i wouldn't be as worried for my heart health afterwards. would def go again. thumbs up! read more

I've been here every single time I've visited Amsterdam. Why? I don't know. The vlaamse frites are amazing and they come in the most gigantic cone known to man. Vlaamse fries are sort of a quintessential Amsterdam experience and Chipsy King will help you understand why. Pipping hot and covered in the condiments of your choice, these fries are gluttonous street food that don't pretend to be anything else. If you find yourself in Amsterdam, there are two things you must do while you are there: Try Polder Gold's Sheep Cheese, and get your hands on some fries. For the sake of this review, I'm going to talk about the latter. I got my hands on some hot, crispy yet soft fries at Chipsy King and I was overwhelmed by the experience, in a good way. You are given sooooo many choices for a dip it's insane. It's not just ketsup or mustard! They have what they call the "Basis," which comprises of some of these: mayo, curry, ketsup, mustard, sweet chili. The total basis options are about 12. The other options in addition to the basis include four "Specials," and then finally you get to choose from four "Vlaams" which I'm still not sure what that translates too, but you just end up having more to pick from! They are constantly making fresh fries and it's a very rapid process where you give your order to the guy manning the register, and then the guy making the fries scoops up a fresh batch of fries for you while lathering the fries with your choice of dip(s). I ended up getting fries with sweet chili sauce AND cheese sauce, and loved them. I felt bad for my classmate who was with me to have witnessed the mess and gluttony while I attacked those fries. Dip everywhere and not a dry finger. But the unladylikness of it all was worth it, dang they were gooood! I did take off a star though because I got jipped of my change. My total was €2.40 and I gave €5.40 and was never given my €3 in change back. The place was completely crowded and the interaction at the register happened so fast, I didn't have a chance to address it. Before I realized I was jipped, the people behind me were already at the register and there was no room to even move back and say anything. Anyways, aside from not getting my change, my experience was very positive and the fries were certainly worth the €3 I lost! If you don't mind a good splurge and some messiness, and appreciate a good "frite," then Chipsy King is your best friend. read more
