Can't resist a good burger...couldn't find one here. I had the pickles burger well done and ir wasn't juicy, it was a little tough and dry. The fries were delicious. Service was good. The process are high for what turned out to be basic burgers (15 euros ÷/-). I'd skip this one and find another burger place. read more

When I wrote my first review for Firma Pickles, I believe they must have been having an off day. It was King's Day after all and they were quite busy, so maybe that's why my burger was underwhelming. Phenomenal. I love me a good burger and this place nailed it. I had the double cheese burger which comes with a side of fries and cole slaw. The burger was incredible; just the right amount of meat, lathered in a creamy cheese sauce with some nice condiments (including the pickles, of course). Meat was cooked to perfection--just a touch under medium. The fries have a lovely seasoning on them and come with a tasty mayo sauce (of course). Although the fries themselves are a little small, you get a good serving of them. The cole slaw is also a nice addition. I'm not really a big cole slaw guy but this side serving was the perfect amount and a nice cleanser after so much meat. The place was jam packed on a Wednesday evening so we had to sit at the bar, which was a little small, but it was worth it. The staff were courteous and friendly and the food came surprisingly quickly given how full the place was. Nice ambiance although it was quite loud, but I suppose it adds to the experience in a way. At €14.50 for the meal, it wasn't the cheapest one in town but it's par for the course in that area of Utrecht and delicious to boot. Would definitely return. read more

Just Meh! I was really looking forward to trying this place but was very disappointed. We got there way before it became busy and it still took almost 10 minutes to see a menu. My boys had the kid's burger which turned out to be the tiniest burger in history... The worst part was that the first time our order was wrong and the second time the burger meat was raw! NOPE! I was certain I had already written a review for Pickles, but I must have lost it. Anyway, I love burgers, I really do and it's great that there are so many vegetarian (gourmet!) options nowadays. However, Pickles does not quite live up to my burger love. Things I did love: the shoestring rosemary "fries" (seriously, their called chips), our wonderfully friendly server and the interior design. Things I didn't love: the pricing and also my burger. It wasn't that it was a bad burger or anything, it was fine but fine is not what I want from a burger. What I want from a burger is that even as I've finished eating and couldn't possibly stuff another bite in my mouth, I still get that same excited feeling as when I first lay eyes on my burger. For me, looking at or even thinking of a burger makes me happy, excited and hungry immediately. A great burger still gives me this feeling when I think about it while I'm already so full that I could explode. Pickles did not do that for me. I ordered the Kumera sweet potato burger and of course expected it to taste like sweet potato. It did not. The patty had no flavour and I actually had to put ketchup on my burger, I NEVER put a sauce on my burger. If sauce would have been intended for the burger, the chef would have put it on there. But anyway, all in all Pickles was fine and I'm planning on trying it again with le boyfriend as he hasn't been yet, but I'm keeping my expectations low next time and will always keep in mind that a GREAT burger is just a short walk away at Meneer Smakers. read more

I just loooooove burgers :) Good thing is, this place has a lot of them :) Came here on a friday evening and even without reservation we could sit down right away. After ordering a coke as my drink (still had to drive), I got the question whether I wanted pepsi or some german version. Decided to try out the german coke version and actually was really nice and I can really recommend it! The burger itself was just great, with some nice pickles on it. Very central and a great lunch/dinner option. I got the sliders for about $10. They don't beat a US burger for sure, but it was a refreshing assortment of different meats. Pretty decent. As an American I've eaten my fair share of burgers, which means I can tell the difference between a good fast good burger (Whataburger) and a very good burger. What Pickles has done is take a distinctly American tradition and recreated it like I have seen no other European nation get right. The burger can be an amazing product and the guys in Utrecht have done it well. This is one of the best hamburgers I've eaten in my life and I HIGHLY recommend you get one. read more

What a cute place. It is located in a small alley away from old canal in Utrecht. Inside decor is a mix combination between butcher shop - with a description of meat parts on animals and a wood with cool pickle and limoncello bottles. Passed by on Saturday afternoon, just when the shops were almost closed and we got the table quite easily. They have a big selection of burgers served with fries and coleslaw. They also have a burger of a day..check it out, as it is a new (not on a menu card) combi. I decided to go for a pickle burger..delicious meat, lots of veggies. You need to open your mouth really really wide to enjoy it. After few bites it gets easier. The fries were also delicious..thin, crispy, seasoned with salt and some herbs..I almost ate it all. When you come for dinner after 6 on Saturday make sure you get a reservation, as it is a busy place or you can always hang around the bar and wait for your table. I noticed that they also have a cool selection of "hapjes" - charcuterie, cheese and a fine selection of wines.. I will be back..but then with a public transport:) read more

Really good. They have so many different kinds of burgers (and not at all just beef ones). The places is fun and hip and has a nice design. The vibe in this place was so cool! I showed up before they opened but the employee who was opening let me come in anyway. That was really nice! The best burger place in town! It's on a tiny street on the city center so you have to look for it. They have an amazing burger selection, a big variety of wines and a few beers. But it's also the busiest and most expensive. There's an inviting bar where you can have a few appetizers and drinks while waiting for your table. For me it was more than worth the wait. read more
