This is my second time at this restaurant and actually first time at this location. I had previously reviewed my first visit at their location near the Van Gogh museum. They have 3 locations in Amsterdam. This seafood restaurant is amazing! Everything is fresh and excellently prepared. You will see by the posted photos.
Outstanding seafood! Easy to find in Amsterdam. Grilled King Prawns were awesome. Calamari and kibberling was great also. Service was very attentive. Bottled water (still/bubbly) Great flavors. Really enjoyed our meal.
This place had a lot of food reviews so we decided to try it...and didn't disappoint. They have a great menu and a selection of a la carte items to choose from. The fish fillet was just OK, and kinda wished we ordered the Mixed Grill instead. However, the mussels are Amazing! The place can get really busy so reservations are recommended. And we for great service from staff.
We loved our dinner at The Seafood Bar. They had a good wine selection and really enjoyed the rosé we ordered with dinner. We had the local oysters, asparagus and The Mixed grill. Everything was amazing. We loved the grilled seafood platter. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Service was good. They are busy but still attentive. It is bigger than it looks. Definitely make a reservation though because it gets busy and fills up quickly. Lovely atmosphere with good energy.
Great razor clams in a pleasant atmosphere with friendly service. Nice selection of wines by the glass and seafood small bites. Get a window seat and enjoy the city people watching.
I always love coming here for the Fruits de Mer "The Seafood Bar." It is a tower of cold crustaceans and shellfish; mussels, cockles, razor clams, sturgeon shrimps, vongole (clams), periwinkles, prawns, crayfish, house salad, crab, and 2 oysters. The service is decent and great for dinner's with colleagues or loved one's.
We were welcomed by the hostess who seated us outside and brought an allergen card. I am celiac so the card is helpful to know what I may eat. I ordered cod with pumpkin, and my husband ordered seafood ravioli. The seafood was very fresh and the service was wonderful! We also liked being outside in order to people watch and also hear the local town bells ring in the time. We will return!
This place is very popular and very nice and in a great location. It's very busy so make a reservation in advance any night of the week. I've been here a couple times now because I go to Amsterdam for work and this is pretty close to the hotel. It's maybe a little over the top for me but it is pretty good. As you might expect they serve pretty much all seafood so if you don't like fish you might want to look elsewhere. In general the food is really good in a classy environment. The service can be spotty. It's very popular and trendy and they can act accordingly. Prices are generally expensive as you can get decent food in Amsterdam for generally decent prices and this is definitely on the higher end. So all in all if you're visiting Amsterdam and want a nice meal this is a good place to go just make a reservation.
Like other Yelpers have mentioned, they are THE place for fresh seafood in Amsterdam. Elegant and chic interior and friendly service. They have 3 branches in Amsterdam, so it's likely you will be surround by your neighbor. Don't hesitate to give them a try.
Location just outside city center was fantastic. Appeared to be in a renovated bank. Reservations were honored and we were seated promptly. Wait staff was fantastic and made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was fresh, menu was full of wonderful options. Food presentation and flavors were first class. Overall a wonderful evening. Highly recommended.
Delish!! Our whole family loved this restaurant! Our fave dish was the cod filet but everything we ordered was amazing! And the service was excellent as well. Our server, Augustina, was delightful! We would highly recommend!
This was an amazing dinner option. The restaurant is cute and very clean. I love the open kitchen concept. Our waiter Brian (I think), was so helpful and nice. The food was very tasty and flavorful. We had an all around great experience. The menu has a good variety to please everyone. I will definitely be returning here and I recommend you give this place a try.
This restaurant came recommended by a local when we asked for a restaurant that served mussels. We made our reservation and decided to give it a try. It was very busy when we got there. In spite of this, we were immediately seated. Our waitress came to us and took our orders. Before we knew it, our plates started coming to us! Really quick service. I ordered the French style mussels with cream sauce. While it tasted good, I've had better. I will say that the mussels themselves were clearly very fresh. All my other friends seemed to enjoy what they picked. All together, Im happy we decided to give this place a try.
Service: from Silvia -- excellent, very responsive All the food was amazing/exceeding expectations -- I had " fruit de mer - seafood bar". Couldn't finish (left the sturgeon shrimp and crayfish) Wife had lobster soup, vongole, and my 6 oyster supplement and half my lobster half. She also had chocolate bavaroise dessert. This place was great, we ate all the seafood, wish we would've gotten a table inside because the restaurant is beautiful, but we sit out in the terrace because it was a very nice cool day, the staff was beyond friendly and the food absolutely delicious . read more
We were able to snag a last minute reservation and give this place a try! The restaurant itself is so beautiful! It feels like you're in a museum while having dinner. We got the garlic butter shrimp, calamari, bread and fish and chips. The garlic butter shrimp was so flavorful! We used the rest of the butter for our bread which was great. The calamari had a different batter than what I've ever seen and it was definitely very tasty and crispy! The fish and chips were pretty good, but they ran out of whole pieces so we got little pieces of fish instead. I don't think it was cod so the taste was a little underwhelming but nonetheless I recommend this place! read more

This restaurant came recommended by a local when we asked for a restaurant that served mussels. We made our reservation and decided to give it a try. It was very busy when we got there. In spite of this, we were immediately seated. Our waitress came to us and took our orders. Before we knew it, our plates started coming to us! Really quick service. I ordered the French style mussels with cream sauce. While it tasted good, I've had better. I will say that the mussels themselves were clearly very fresh. All my other friends seemed to enjoy what they picked. All together, Im happy we decided to give this place a try. read more
Getting towards the end of our trip and spending a few days in Amsterdam. Our first dinner stop was here at the SeafoodBar. It's a very nice spot, busy but a very attentive staff. We tried a few things, garlic butter shrimp was so good for an app. The oysters were a real hit at the table and I forgot to mention how great the drinks were. We had the cold seafood platter at the table along with the fish and chips and the salmon plate. All in all, very much worth the stop. There was a slight problem with the bill, I have to say, management was very apologetic and corrected it. They did a great job with all around service. It's a busy restaurant, get there with expectations to wait a bit but it's a nice place to enjoy a drink while you wait. read more

Sure, here's a revised version: --- I have been here before and love this place. I had the fried calamari appetizer. It wasn't the best, as it was all rings, which might mean they were frozen, but they were tasty. The diver sole was great and very fresh. I didn't know it was whole and I usually avoid bones, but it wasn't difficult to manage and was very tasty. The service was great. read more

Been to Amsterdam several times in the last two years, so I already have my favorite places. Still need to try different spots though, so that's how we ended up at The Seafood Bar! I knew it was gonna be legit when the restaurant proudly displays the seafood it has on offer. Had several items here: Sea Bass Ceviche, some oysters, Kibbeling with Tartar Sauce, Fish and Chips (fried cod fillet), and Fruits De Mer. Food is really good and worth the price IMO. Really enjoyed the Fruits de Mer, as it was a plate of fresh seafood. And of course you can't go wrong with a properly done plate of fish and chips. The cod fillet was HUGE and the batter did not overwhelm. Service was great here, no complaints at all. Definitely glad I tried this, wouldn't mind coming back again. read more

We really enjoyed our two meals at The Seafood Bar - the food, drinks and service were excellent. It's a trendy restaurant and seemed to have a mix of locals, expats, and visitors to the city. We managed to walk in and get seated both times, but if you want a full meal experience try and get a reservation. Their seafood platters looked amazing (and the portions are huge for those who wonder about these things). Visit 1: We walked in at 5:55 PM on a Saturday evening (right at peak dinner hour) and were sat in the balcony bar seating area which was tight, but allowed for great people watching. Our server Sophia was a delight - friendly, efficient, and super helpful. We shared three appetizers between two of us and it was the perfect amount - the Kibbeling (by far my favorite, the Cod stands alone); Grilled Octopus (good, but not Spain good); and the Dutch shrimp croquettes (ok, but not our favorite). Visit 2: We were given a table in the back and served by Brian (a patient and friendly server). Once again, we shared three appetizers between us and it was the perfect amount - we ordered the Kibbeling and Grilled Octopus again and tried the shrimp in garlic butter (delicious scampi-like dish). Their drinks were also excellent - my favorite was the Gin & Tonic with the samphire which I can only describe and salty/herbal seaweed and absolutely delicious...though samphire is not a typical Dutch garnish according our Dutch friend (I was so excited about it and she laughed at me ). Delcious and a must try when in Amsterdam! Make sure you make a reservation for dinner if you want to secure a spot. We walked in trying to get last minute seating although there wasn't room that night, we were able to make a booking for the next night. We decided to with the half cooked and half raw/on ice seafood platter, a whole grilled fish, grilled octopus app and a side of sweet potato fries. This was enough to feed our party of four. Definitely enjoyed the cooked portion more of the two sections of the platter. We are able to figure out most if the cooked section while the raw section left us unsure but willing to give it a taste. From the raw/on ice section the rock crab was a standout. It was sweet and meaty but tough to crack open. We particularly enjoyed the cooked portion as it came with stewed mussels two different grilled fish filets and shrimps. The whole grilled fish was definitely worth it, the meat was tender and the bones were large enough to comfortably pick out. It was served with a side for relish or sauce which complimented the fish so well. We found ourselves dunking other items into the sauce. Of course the sweet potato fries were a hit, crunchy, sweet and full of flavor. The octopus was also cooked perfectly, not overly chewy and fresh tasting. We truly enjoyed our meal. The staff were friendly and patient when ordering. Offering wine recommendations for our specific menu items as well as checking in on us and clearing the shell bucket multiple times. read more

Our hotel made our reservations at the closest Seafood Bar. There are several locations. Reservations really seem a must. We lucked out getting a table out front. We ordered the seafood grill tower so we had many hot and cold options. But after seeing other entrees everything looks amazing. Our waiter was attentive and professional. The food was plentiful, fresh and delicious. If I could, I would have come back more but there are so many great choices in Amsterdam to choose from. This should definitely be a MUST. read more

Love everything about this place! Especially Sev--a hostess/waitress who speaks English with the most amazing accent in the entire world. She was super nice seated immediately at the bar and came by to ask if I wanted a table. All the waitress and the cook/chef behind the bar were talking with me and so amazingly friendly or might just seem that way after 10 days in Norway, nobody was social! Borders on rude. Anyway, everyone was chatting and super friendly. The place was in the weeds/crushed its Easter and while in Norway they have their Red Days and EVERYTHING was closed since Wednesday, here locals took to town. This place has amazing finger food and today I had the shrimp croquettes. Excellent the dipping sauce was great. I didn't order the seafood combo "Fruit of the Sea" but it looked amazing! Everybody was very happy with their food... sitting at bar people had to exit past me, they all made positive comments. read more

Sea-food, eat food. I was definitely seafood out after eating at the seafood bar. All the seafood varieties we ate were all fresh! It was fantastic. The oysters were by far my favorite item. Tip: They save a portion of their restaurant for walk ins only, so if you missed grabbing a reservation, just head in over and try your luck! read more
