This is Chipotle, so pretty much the same as any other Chipotle location. The service was better than at other fast food or fast casual locations. And the food is predictable. I got a barbacoa bowl with rice and no beans. I assumed that would be all gluten-free and did not say anything. I bloated almost immediately. Not sure if it was serious cross-contamination, gluten in the meat, or some of the spices, but it got me good this time. I like them in general and this location seems well-run and clean. read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill does a big business, especially on Halloween when burritos cost $6 (plus tax). The line was long, but things moved quickly. When I arrived at the front of the line to order, I chose a burrito with smoked brisket, peppers, onions, pinto beans, shredded cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo. This location has nearby street parking and an adjoining parking lot. The Tenleytown metro station is about a ten minute walk. There are also bus lines running up and down Wisconsin Avenue. I came here for a really late fast food dinner here tinight because I literally have nothing at home to eat. When I walked in it was quiet, but that all changed about twenty minutes later when the employees decided to engage in a semi heated conversation in Soanish. It didn't affect me though, and I was was just thankful that there wasn't a huge crowd or loud music. I ordered the steak bowl which is my usual bowl from this restaurant chain, and the employee who prepared it hooked it up! I requested the brown rice, black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. She put on mounds of steak, and I appreciated it! I also ordered a bottled water to wash it all down, and with me some form of liquid is always important whenever I consume food. I reluctantly tried this place again. I stayed away after they had all there issues with the tainted food. And because of the service will likely stay away and just go with Cava instead. Customer service was FAR from great. As the you g man made my bowl, I asked him whether those were " black beans" .... i asked three times and every time I asked he kept scooping beans into the bowl. He wasn't listening at all. I got the bowl and started to eat it and realize it had too much beans so I went back up to the register .... cashier was somewhere not to be found. The young man who originally made my bowl was in the midst of helping someone else. I waited patiently then the young man looked up and stopped helping his current customer and stood where he was and just stared at me, he then asked "you need some help?" I didn't want to scream over to him, so I just nodded yes.... he stopped helping his customer and came over to the register. I told him politely it was way too many beans. Look I freaking love chipotle's food, and this location was an iconic spot for high school dates in the 2010s and onwards, but I'm not even gonna lie. I have unfortunately had one too many unsatisfactory experiences at this particular location. This location is the worst, severs are very rude. I ordered a bowl here to go only to find out for some reason the people doing to go orders were behind. There was nobody in line ordering so I asked could my order be made at the front fresh to which the lady at the cash register told me to wait. I ended up waiting 20 min for online order, they didn't have the cauliflower rice I paid extra for and when the go doing to go orders finally brought it out he threw it at me. This was the worst experience I ever had at a Chipotle and it's crazy because it wasn't busy. Even though there are a large number of walk-in customers standing in line waiting to order, this restaurant has chosen to prioritize the Uber eats and DoorDash drivers. I am so done with chipotle. I've been giving up on them for a while. They expanded way too quickly and have zero oversight. This particular location is disgusting. Every time I go, there's a problem that makes me say, ok I'm done. A couple of months pass and I decide to give them another chance. Not anymore. Last time they were out of steak. This time they were out of sour cream and lettuce. The line was filthy disgusting. One guy asked for new tinfoil bc it was covered in sour cream. The woman in front of me asked the man to wipe her tinfoil lid clean bc it was disgusting. His station was absolutely trashed. How hard would it have been to wipe everything down? The napkin and soda station was trashed. Napkins and straw wrappers everywhere, soda spills everywhere. The trash can was overflowing. The floor was dirty. This must be where the cool kids hang out. They are certainly not in their dorms doing their homework. The place is filled with AU students - and why wouldn't they come here? This place makes the best burritos in Tenleytown. Guapos got nothing on you! Normally, I wouldn't review a chain like Chipotle Mexican Grill but I enjoyed my experience so much. The food here is delicious and inexpensive. The Chipotle that I go to in NYC costs $8.00 and this place is much less like $6 and change for a gigantic burrito. The chicken is spicy and the sides are fresh. It was awesome. I got a burrito bowl and it was filled to the brim with goodness. The staff was sweet, but I feel like I was skimped on chicken. Also, I came here late one night and I saw a employee going home with a burrito. This place is that good that employees take food home! I will be back. You can count on that. read more

If you are starving and have $10 on you, this is a good place to eat. I always order the chicken burrito. I like how you get unlimited refills with your drink (Well, they don't really care how much you get) and so, that's pretty awesome. You also get to drown your food with tabasco sauce, which is just absolutely amazing. Is the food authentic? No, not exactly, but it's still good burritos. They're also huge. I recommend you order online in advance (saves time) and avoid the parking lot here (it is quicker to park on the street). read more

I am a Chipotle hater. That is me. I. Hate. Chipotle. The line at Cava was hanging out the door so we decided to give this Chipotle a try. We had 4 tacos: 2 chicken and 2 steak with everything except rice, beans and grilled peppers. Had rice and black beans as a side. The good: chicken tacos were delicious. Tender chicken. I hate dried, flat chicken in tacos (courtesy of another location). Rice, black beans and guac as a side. Nice pairing. The bad: Salt City. I've always found Chipotle bland. For what Chipotle brand lacks in flavor, this location tries to make up in salt. Steak was chewy and made a terrible flavor combination with the guac. Id return for the chicken in either a taco or burrito bowl but will keep the salt content in mind. read more

All Chipotles look and feel the same IMHO, but at least this one has a little parking lot, and even if it's full it's not too hard to find parking on the street next to it. It's always packed to the gills when I stop by though, so I've started putting my order in online before I show up; not all Chipotles have this option it seems, but this one does. Well, I'm not a huge fan of Chipotle (I much prefer The Burro for my burritos) but this is a good location. Large open, airy space and lots of seating. Most of the patrons are, of course, AU students. The line can get long around lunchtime, so you really have to time it right (I've gone around 12 and the line is nothing, and then all of a sudden 12:15 rolls around and it's practically out the door). However, the people who are on the assembly line and register are super-quick so they keep everyone moving. Here's a warning for you - the parking lot is tiny and completely insane. Like I don't know who designed the layout of this lot but the parking lot is just idiotic. Be careful when you park here, because it's a bit of a free-for-all and you want to make sure you can actually get out! read more

In general: this is delicious, hormone-free/ semi organic, inexpensive Mex food. The first time I went I ordered a burrito and found it too dry, so the trick is to find your favorite salsas. I absolutely love the chicken, corn salsa, and guac. Even the sour cream is to die for. The burritos are giant if you get alot of things in them, so I usually cut mine in half before I start and take the other half home. Or, if you prefer burrito bowls (like i do), just grab a a lid and its all ready to go home. My veg and vegan friends love this place as well. This location: Yes, I know this is a chain, but the tenleytown employees are super! They're funny, sweet, and always give you a little extra. It can get insanely crowded during weekday lunch hours though! TIP: If you don't mind having a small cup, just ask for "a cup for water" and you can have unlimited access to the fountain drinks and iced tea for free! read more

Chipotle is always good, with tasty, fresh ingredients served in generous portions. It's reliable for quality and value, served with a smile - can't beat that! Chipotle is also"eco conscious" and serve what they call "food with integrity" - i.e., cruelty-free and/or free range, hormone free etc. I usually have a vegetarian burrito bowl, but on the occasions when I feel like having meat, at least I feel that it's healthier (for me, the animals and the earth) than most hormone filled meat that comes from factory farms. First time coming here this week! So. Darn. Good. Although, when I was at the tobasco stand, someone seriously jacked my paper bag. The servers may not be that nice, but hey they work as an assembly line so of course they aren't. For my first time I had the bowl instead of the burrito and think it was a wise choice. I'm a meat reductionist, so finding quick, inexpensive, healthy, tasty vegetarian options is vital. Here you will find such a thing, and with better flavor and larger quantity than non-fast-food restaurants. My usual request: veg burrito with extra beans (they always accommodate), peppers and onion, corn, mild salsa, guac and lettuce. They pack it in, so one burrito can easily serve as two meals (frugality!). Every addition is flavorful--been inspired to make these myself at home, so simple! Superb nachos with right amount of saltiness and lime, and excellent guac dip. 4 stars instead of 5 for lack of acceptable variety beyond my burrito, and because I think they sometimes slip the hot salsa spoon into my mild salsa. :'( Firemouth. I like Chipotle. Chain to chain, they are of consistent quality. With any franchise, the food tends to be the same, so the reviews I write focus on franchise specific details. Service here is good, but it maybe because they top load on rice. I got a burrito bowl the other night. It was the end if the day so you'd think they'd want to get rid of the food they were about to throw out. Instead, I got about a pound of rice and a smallish to normal amount of chicken, salsa, and guacamole (actually, probably more than a pound, I ended up eating all the good stuff off of the rice because I was curious and the resulting bowl was quite heavy). I'm not going to say, "skimped on the chicken - 1 star!", but missing out on opportunities to treat someone special 5 minutes from close means you're within the range of regular rather than great. Parking in tenleytown is never my favorite activity (third only to trying to park by Logan Circle and U St respectively) so I can't see myself going back here except under the same circumstances (after work nearby). read more
