Server came by, not so much as a greeting or introduction, just a short, "do you know what you want?" Fine - no problem. We ordered two avocado toasts and side of fries to share. Now, the menu clearly says the avocado toasts are served with a "runny egg". Ok sure, no problem. What i did not anticipate was a half raw egg with the yolk swimming in a sea of translucent completely uncooked "whites". It was like a golden disc encased in a snot rocket. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. The image of the "runny" egg was too much so I ate half the toast serving and meandered to the fries. Not bad, crispy , hot, and...wait...sweet...something is off, I can't put my finger on it but at least it's not a raw egg. I keep eating. My kids looks at me and says, "do these remind you of funnel cake?" THAT'S IT - FUNNEL CAKE. We have both had enough, ask for the check. The server comes by gives me the clunky machine, I tap and put it down, he reaches for it and I say, it's processing, I still have to sign...and then he starts snapping his fingers...WHAT IN THE ACTUAL €¥($ ARE WE DOING RIGHT NOW?!? Never again. Never, again.

The service when we went left a lot to be desired. It was busy for sure being a weekend but not overwhelming. There were empty tables inside. Even still, it took forever to get acknowledged at times just to take our order. If we hadn't asked someone walking by for the bill, we still may be there. We had an app of fries and then my main was the burger with fries. The fries were great. They are those style of pub fries that are crispy and delicious. The garlic aioli dip was a great pairing for them. The burger was fine. It wasn't anything out of this world but it was still good. All the toppings blended well with the burger. I felt it could have used some more flavor. Duke's is in an unbeatable spot being right across from the entrance to the zoo. If you are looking for a bite right there, it's a good option.

The hairy man with the pony tail took my order. I opened the salad and there's one stand alone chicken wing. This is the cutest micro-aggression I've ever seen! Of course I want a chicken wing. I'm black! I checked the reviews to see if it was a common experience for brown people. It might be what comes with dealing with this place. I'm not mad at all. Just giving black and brown people a heads up! It's Greek with a pinch of racism.

It was really not at all what I was expecting, especially considering the chicken was remarkably dry, bland (I only noticed salt and pepper), and pan-seared/grilled instead of cooked on a spit. This would probably rank among the worst shawarmas I've ever had in DC. My partner got the greek salad with chicken added, which was also not at all to her liking. It had spinach, white onion (why not red??), cherry tomatoes, and minimal feta. It really wasn't a proper greek salad like she was hoping for. On top of all of this, this place was not cheap. The shawarma pita and greek salad with chicken totaled nearly $30. The workers were kind, and the inside had a hole-in-the-wall feel, which I normally expect when going to good greek/mediterranean delis, but the food quality was just so bad. Overall, I was super disappointed with the quality and authenticity of the food and will not be going back to Byblos deli anytime soon.

If you're lucky you can get parking right up front in the circle, but if not, there is a parking garage right behind the restaurant with ample parking. One of the unique tacos here, "The Noodler," is probably one of my favorite Taco Bamba speciality tacos. It's soooo tasty. It's fun to sit at the bar during lunch time, you'll get great service there and the bartenders are friendly and open to chat. If you're in a bigger group or family oriented, the outdoor seating is great because there's a big open space if you need an option for running around and keeping an eye on the kids.

I remember seeing this restaurant when it was being built and even went there with a colleague some years ago. I was in the area and knew I needed to get something that was not too heavy, so I said I decided on "Taco Bamba". The menu had changed a lot since the last time I was there, and I had the hardest time deciding. So, I ordered the "Its Chiko (Not Cheeko) Taco and The Noodler (Crispy Catfish) Taco". When I took the first bite of the catfish I was like "what in the shamrock tastes like this". Fortunately, it was the same reaction when I took the first bite of the Its Chiko. I tasted every ingredient, every sauce, every cut-up vegetable, the taste of how they cooked the catfish and shrimp, how they cooked the tortilla, the presentation, and how fresh everything was. It was all intermingled together so well to provide you the best tasting meal. Who does that; okay, many places try to imitate. However, these two have my vote today. It was funny listening (after I ordered my food) to some young male co-workers in line looking at the menu trying to decide what to get; hearing their reactions to all the titles along with the descriptions of dishes. Through the years one thing I've noticed is that for you to give a review you don't have to stuff yourself full of food to be able to articulate whether a restaurant food is good or not. It's not the quantity of food; it's the quality of the food. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some other things on the menu. The restaurant was clean, bright (not sterile), friendly staff, with a pleasant atmosphere.

The space is great, with a nice mix of tables, bar seating, and outdoor spots. Even the bar has an inside and outside counter. The beer list is impressive, 24 drafts of every style. We had an Oliver B'more Breakfast stout and Port City porter, and both satisfied. Plenty of seltzers and cocktails on the menu, too. We came during a world cup match, and the space was packed full of people cheering along, which was fun. The food, full of burgers, sliders, tots, tot-chos, etc, is good for a chain. The fried pickle chips are quite good and came out super quick. At their other locations, the sliders, especially the holy aioli, are a fave. There were two downsides. Around 6:30 pm in June, the space was painfully sunny. Even inside about half the seats were in direct sunlight with no barrier of any kind. Sitting at the bar was blinding. I can't imagine how bad it must have been outside, and we saw a couple tables mid-meal move from outside to in. The wall facing the sun is floor to ceiling windows with no shade of any kind, and the outside has no canopy or coverage. This is a problem that can pretty easily be solved with shades and umbrellas/an awning. Be careful what time of day you visit. Second, despite advertising the happy hour on every table, and the bartender we asked saying we would get the deal through their app (which you must use to order, it is via QR code or a central kiosk by the entrance), there was no deal reflected when we checked out. When we asked he said he could update our check manually, but after he did that, the discount was only one third the advertised discount. With the price still wrong, we had to complain yet again, and even then it was still not right. The whole experience was very annoying, and it seems like no one actually received happy hour pricing unless they noticed and complained. The whole thing felt very sketchy.

I tried again and again. Finally I went inside to ask the bartender to place my order. GUESS WHAT?- No bartender or wait staff to be found. I waited for someone to come out and finally had to bang on the kitchen door to get someone. I know you are trying to save money by having a bare bones staff, but if you want to keep people coming in, HIRE A FEW KNOWLEDGABLE BARTENDERS. & ENOUGH WAIT STAFF. Also, it's so obvious your ordering system has problems, so get the bartenders and wait staff to take orders.
