As soon as we walked in I knew I should have just stayed away. The floors were all dirty with napkins and food everywhere. There was maybe like 2-3 small families and many empty tables. But they were all dirty and covered in leftover food and sour cream. There's no excuse because there looked to be about 7 workers all behind the register not doing anything, just talking and standing around. They had bad customer service too , and were very stingy with the food portions on my tacos. I'm not expecting over the top but 4 strands of lettuce? Come on, that wasn't nearly enough. They were supper calculated with how much pieces of chicken I was served. I didn't want to ask for more because I knew they would charge the double. My tacos were very skinny at the end, again the worker was very stingy w the portions. Even the guy ordering next to me noticed. I was in town for business today, staying in hotel nearby and needing a quick bite to eat after the flight.....Normally Chipotle's are great experiences for me but this place was far below the standard for what I've seen from this franchise over the past few years. I ordered a bowl, because this location was out of tortillas by mid-afternoon. After paying I planned to dine in but turned around to look for a clean table and notice every table in the restaurant was dirty (pieces of food, dirty napkins, smeared sour cream, etc) despite what looked like 7-8 employees "working" and only 4 customers in the restaurant. The floor also looked like it hadn't been swept all day and the trash can(s) were full. (Manager was obviously not on site because the employees who were not helping customers or cooking were standing around talking to each other behind the register) Since there wasn't a clean place to sit, I asked for a lid and walked back to my hotel room. Food quality was just as disappointing as the chicken was barely edible. The texture was extremely dry, like it had set out on the line for too long - similar to what you'd expect from jerky. I couldn't get through bite #2 and eventually threw the food away. Opening the yelp app for the first time, I now see that this location gets multiple poor reviews and I am now wondering if the front end of the restaurant is that dirty, how sanitary is the back end where the food is prepared? Taste and texture proved that something is really off at this location and I hate it because I love Chipotle, but this was a far cry from the freshness and high standard their commercials advertise. This location could honestly benefit from public health inspector making frequent stops to ensure customers are safe. I'll avoid on future visits. read more

The first and only Chipotle in the Valley so far. I'm a fan of Chipotle so was on cloud 9 when I found out they were gonna open one in McAllen. Have only gotten the chance to been here once. The food quality is just as good as any other Chipotle. My only complaint was the service. It was extremely slow when I came in even tho it wasn't that crowded at all. Given most of the employees are new and in training, I won't hold it against them. Looking forward to go back soon and hopefully see some improvements this time. Also, they're located in one of the biggest and nicest shopping areas(there are not that many however), so you can definitely walk around and check out some of the stores or the little park that they have there to burn off the food, then go and have dessert at Corner Bakery or the Yogurt place next door. read more

The first time I went to dine in at Chipotle restaurant and had something from the menu was in January 2018. I had ridden a bicycle that was given to me the month before and I had a barbacoa borrito. I've gone though much in my journey and I was 29years of age when I had my first borrito from Chipotle. I was in one of my uniforms and took my time to enjoy my meal. Like most businesses in the valley this spot was filled with people during its opening weeks. It now is a much more accessible location after being open for a period of time. The service was good with the staff being helpful and very nice. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because the place was dirty while a few staff members were on break eating in the lobby. It looked like they had a long day and had given up on keeping up with cleaning. The food was good and still warm which I would say is expected. Chipotle is one of the biggest and most successful fast food chains in the world! RGV is so lucky to have one opening here! Don't pay any attention to these bad reviews. I have been to several chipotle locations throughout Texas (Houston at Medical Center, Austin). However this McAllen location had the poorest quality of taste and quantity. Good location though, this area is booming with businesses and restaurants. The place was pretty full when we arrived and was even longer after this Mexican national began asking for samples of meat.. (What else is new in the valley..). I ordered the bowl version, which normally (at other locations) is so overloaded with toppings that when I open it, the salad spills out. This was not the case, she poured half a spoon of white rice. Pretty much half a spoon of everything, beans, corn, lettuce. I wasn't pleased to say the least. Oh and the quality of the steak was VERY chewy. I have never tasted chewy, rubbery steak from chipotle.. My sister and her boyfriend shared a burrito which normally would fill them up because the burritos are huge. I mean they are the staple of the chipotle brand. Needless to say, it was smaller than most chipotle burritos I have ordered. I don't understand why every national franchise that comes to the valley has to be watered down (literally). Oh and the chips were SOO stale. DEFINITELY not fresh. Once again, has never happened at a chipotle location in the past. Guac was okay. The greedy portions and quality of the meat make this chipotle franchise a 2-3 star value. I've been to many Chipotle restaurants in San Antonio, Houston, and Colorado. This one is puts the Chipotle brand to shame. First, the tables setup is idiotic. I don't know why they didn't go for the traditional setting where u have your own table with your group. The staff doesn't even know what is on the menu. I asked for avocado instead of guacamole & they claimed they couldn't do that. I've done that at every Chipotle I have visited.
