Second visit was not as enjoyable as first . Husband's steak wasn't quite up to par 9 oz looked more like 6 baked potato was decent and Caesar salad was pretty sad looking . Maybe expectations are just too high .

Overall it was good. I would like to give it a shot but our first experience was kinda odd. I met a bunch of friends here and we all had the expectation of having a nice steak dinner with a few drinks and have a great time. I met my friend there early before the ladies showed up and we had a drink at the bar. It was a nice experience. They have a great ambiance, nice bar and I felt like I was going to have a great time. Eventually our friends showed up and we all got a seat. I think there were about 7 of us. We sat in a side room and again, it was a cool vibe. Our server showed up and asked for drinks and my guy friend and I literally ordered the exact same thing we ordered at the bar. The ladies ordered their drinks and the server was off to the races. He comes back and stated that they didn't have our drinks. My friend and I looked at each other and were WTF?! lol. We kindly reminded the server that we had just ordered these items at the bar. He apologized and went back to the bar. No worries, honest mistake. He came back and insisted that the bourbon wasn't available but brought the beers. Hey, no worries, maybe we drank the last of it. These things happen. I looked at their drink menu which is quite nice BTW. So i picked out a different bourbon and went from there. He comes back and says he doesn't have that either. Now we're all joking about it at the table. I kindly ask him what do they have? We get shuffled to another server and we eventually get it all sorted out and continue on with our dining experience. No big deal. On to our actual orders. Our party LOVED their food. I was a little homesick and I had just been to Vegas, then immediately to TX. I was away from home for about a week. I wanted some comfort food all of a sudden (maybe the bourbon speaking to me) so I ordered my steak with rice. I'm half asian and eat rice A LOT. The steak was quite nice, I ordered the New York and the rice was Pilaf. Not bad but for some reason a steak with white rice with a side of sriracha was really what I was wanting. In closing the experience was a little odd, the food was good, the ambiance good too but the service was just OK. The saving grace was that my party had a great experience so that is the most important thing. When in the area I'll try it again. This place has a lot of potential.

The food was great. But, the service was amazing. Our waitress Jackie was a gem. She really provided that touch of care that used to be found in the service industry that has been missing for quite some time. 10/10 would go again.

Great service and excellent food prep. Ordered crab cakes, 9 oz filet, house salad, Brussel Sprouts, carrot cake, and cheesecake. Juan and Edna (bar tenders) did a great job servicing all my dining needs. Great recommendations with dessert.

So far so good! I am loving the appetizer that the server recommended me! He offered me the chips, queso, and brisket? It was absolutely delicious and had a huge fried jalapeño that we Texans love. The best queso I've had hands down. It has an obey, gooey texture that leaves me coming back for more. I enjoyed their chicken soup along with their Texas-sized rolls. I haven't even had my dinner yet and I am pleased. I dropped a star at the end of my dinner because my server was not attentive of me. I waited a while for refill. There was no check back to see if I enjoyed my meal. He has four other tables so I am understanding. I am waiting very patiently for my check but that receipt should have been at my table a while ago. I also had to ask to get my complimentary bread. It's not the end of the world, however. Please take my review as a constructive critique! I will still be back because the food was oh so delicious! I only had enough room for half of my ribeye steak that the server recommended. I ordered it medium well and it has dome great grill marks. 10/10 would recommend for the food. I was not unhappy about the service either. My only complaint is that I had to wait a while for my receipt, refills, bread, and my box to go but I'm willing to wait for good service. I'll be back when that steak craving hits. Wow, I may have reviewed too soon. This is my first time going from 5 stars to 3 stars. Second time editing. I asked for bread and the server said "I'll get it for you after I cash you out." Needless to say after waiting 20 minutes, I ended up just paying with the QR code and leaving. I'll be back but hopefully I don't get this guy as a server next time...

Review of Main Street Steakhouse -- 920 N Main St Suite 100, McAllen, TX 78501…read more Walking into Main Street Steakhouse, my hopes were set pretty high. The atmosphere was upscale, cozy, and inviting--exactly what you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse. I started with a dirty martini, which was actually quite good, though I was surprised they didn't have Kettle One or Chopin vodka available, and they didn't offer blue cheese olives. Not a deal breaker, but a bit unexpected given the overall ambiance. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartare. Unfortunately, it had a noticeably fishy taste, to the point that I stopped eating after just a couple of bites. Hoping the main course would redeem things, I went with the surf and turf. Visually, the plate looked decent, but that's where the positives ended. The steak was tough and rubbery--difficult to even cut, let alone chew--and the lobster tail was overcooked and dry. Both were inedible after a single bite. The manager did come over and apologize, offering us a complimentary crème brûlée to make up for it. Sadly, that too was a letdown: undercooked, runny, and lacking the crisp top you'd expect from a proper crème brûlée. When the manager returned, he admitted he had tried to cut into my steak himself and couldn't get through it either--so it wasn't just me. At that point, I was ready to chalk it up to an off night and consider giving them another shot sometime. But then the bill came--it ended up being a little over $180 including a decent tip--and to my surprise, the inedible main course hadn't been comped. That was the final disappointment. If the manager himself couldn't cut the steak and acknowledged the issue, how do you not remove it from the bill? I genuinely wanted to like this place. The setting is promising, but they clearly need a more consistent kitchen and a management team that understands how to make things right when they go wrong. For now, I can't recommend it--and I won't be back unless some serious changes are made. Rating: 1/5

And we'll be back again, I'm sure, but tonight was not a good night. Would rate tonight two stars based on value for price, but bumping up a star based on past experiences. We arrived, with reservations, to a half-empty restaurant. We (my wife and I) were first seated in a tight spot between a very large party and a wall, with a narrow aisle for the server to pass through separating us. After being seated, we realized this spot was not for us and asked to be reseated. Good thing, too, since moments later a player arrived to play corny Christmas tunes at a piano *immediately * adjacent (less than 3 feet away) to our original table. Nobody had asked us if we minded giving up our night's conversation in favor of the piano. I'm sure some folks would've loved it, but you need to ask before sitting people that close to the music. Anyway, glad we moved. If all else had gone well, I wouldn't be bothering with this review. But. The timing was terrible: we ordered cocktails before dinner. When they arrived, our waiter took our order - and within two minutes appeared with our soup and salad. My cream of cauliflower soup was great, but did not mix with my drink. What ever happened to enjoying a drink *before* dinner? My subsequent caesar salad was as good as any I've had, but when dinner arrived my wife's steak and baked potato were barely above room temperature. She also mentioned that her filet was incredibly dry. My New York strip was tasty, though. Oh, but the wine: we each ordered glasses of red, but both were *ice* cold. Like really really cold. So we slogged through the meal, but as you might imagine we were ready pretty soon to write it off as an off night and move on. So we placed our utensils on our plates, pushed our plates a tiny bit away, and sat back a bit so the server could see we were finished. Which he might have, if on any of the six subsequent times that he passed near our table he had bothered to even glance at us. Finally, we had to get another server to request that our server bring our check. So he finally shows up asking what we need, not bringing the check as we requested of his colleague. I again asked for the check mentioned to him that as a server it is useful to look around at your tables whenever you pass through the room. He did not apologize. Look, this is usually a great place. I'm sure we'll be back on some future visit to McAllen. Tonight, though, not so much. I hope the management is paying attention to this and that this was truly just a rare off-night and not a sign of declining service. At this price, you need to do better.

Firstly, shoutout to our server Frank! He was hustling hard to take care of us and his other tables, and did a wonderful job. The issues began with the food. Small things, but a tad bothersome. Can't really go wrong with the rolls, and they kept those hot and coming as needed them, so no issue there. The grilled chicken Cesar salad was fine in flavor, but the chicken breast was quite sad. The portion of the chicken was smaller than just the Palm of my hand (and I don't have very big hands). However, the lettuce was crisp & it was dressed well enough. The teriyaki chicken had the same portion problem as the chicken. It was dressed with a pineapple ring, which was nearly the size of the minuscule chicken breast it was served with. A family member had the fried fish, and the fish was overcooked and tough in the middle.
