This is an awesome new beverage and snack shop operating out of the same space as The Pickle Guys on Grand Street. The owner of both shops, Eddie, is a super friendly guy who truly cares about his local community. Chatting with him while waiting for our order to be made fresh was a wealth of history and knowledge of Chinatown. He shared stories with us about the changes to the neighborhood over time and the role he wants to play in this community to improve its future. This is the type of small business that deserves everyone's support.
As for their offerings, I loved the Egg Salad Sando, which was extremely creamy and luxurious. It is somewhat similar to those famous ones you find in Japan's 7 Eleven. For the vehicle, he chose a soft fluffy hot dog bun, which worked way better than I expected. To put the sando over the top, I really enjoyed the pickled onions that they use. From my understanding, it comes from his shop next door. I'm excited to come back soon and try their variety of hot dogs and onigiri.
On the day I came, they had actually just closed. Eddie's mom, who was cleaning up, saw the three of us looking into the window and was kind enough to reopened the store. Then she called Eddie to come back even though he had just left to "Take care of our guests." We felt really bad because all we wanted was an Egg Salad Sando and one drink. Instead, they even offered us free beverages to try that are not on the menu. Btw, we loved the fact that you can actually taste tea in all of their drinks unlike many bubble tea shops. Our favorites were the lychee and dragon fruit flavored teas. Not too sweet for those of you wondering, but adjustable to preference.
In summary, delicious snacks and wonderfully refreshing beverages are the reasons why most people will eventually find this neighborhood gem. However, it's the people working here that earned my respect and appreciation. I will be back whenever nearby to show them some love. While I'm at it, might as well grab some stuff from Pickle Guys to go too. Doughnut Plant is only a few doors down too. read more
