This recent lunch truly was THE WORST! I unfortunately have nothing good to say. Short, sweet (& sour)! Hahaha! The greasiest/oiliest egg roll I've ever had in my life (soaked through the bag and still ran down my arm!); barely warm Won Ton soup; barely warm Hot & Spicy beef and served on cold tasteless yellow Spanish rice (yellow rice, REALLY?). All I wanted was a nice hot Chinese lunch and having been down there decided to pop in here. Just a waste of time (I had to wait quite some time despite it being 11:30 a.m., no people inside and no one picking up). Today is Thursday, August 14th 2025. As we have mentioned previously, Q Ming is the one that usually answers the phone and that woman is overworked like crazy. She has one day off when they're closed, which is Monday. The food was better this time because Q Ming made it that way, but the one who took the order was her son OWEN. Of course she's going to defend her son instead of listening to our complaints. Instead of two large brown rice, which used to come with our usual order of tofu and mixed vegetables with black bean sauce, they only sent one. We constantly asked for the mustard on the top of the table Instead of the horrible mustard they send in those little packets. We're not quite sure what it is, but it doesn't taste like mustard to us. Whoever is giving the order to the delivery person is the last line of defense. Since it is clearly obvious that there is no CHEF, someone has got to take responsibility for the mistakes they make. We also always tip in cash. We learned that the hard way we gave the delivery driver a 30% tip Q Ming does speak English very well. Her English is a hell of a lot better than our Chinese, which is zero we're just annoyed because she's so busy she wants to get rid of us. They always wanna get rid of you if you have an actual complaint I don't understand why things constantly change with this restaurant. My husband especially gets irritated, but I told him just forget it. It's not worth it because they're never going to admit wrong. They know perfectly well we always order the same thing every time what is so hard about this? They're not even insanely busy like they usually are because we ordered our food around 4 PM. This is usually after staff meal. So no CHEF, Owner refuses to take responsibility, and would not let me speak to Owen the owner son who also refused to tell me his name like that was top-secret information. He speaks perfect English. He's probably an American citizen. He has absolutely no accent and understood. Every word we said, but he still could not get the order right and then nobody actually checks what goes into the bag. I know this is not the worst thing in the world. Johnny knows that too. I think Q Ming actually tried to make the cooks give us better meals so I want to thank her for that and so does John. We're very grateful for your efforts, but we're a little bit tired of your constant mistakes. Just so everybody knows they always say it's going to take 45 minutes and then it takes 20 minutes. Bean curd with mixed vegetables and brown rice with black bean sauce was pretty damn good. If only they could admit that they forgot a rice order because there are two people that live here, and they also forgot the table top mustard. It really clears up your sinuses and makes you cry and that's a good thing in this context. OK Q Ming still love you. This woman works way too hard and I'm glad that she's married to the owner. Sometimes they're so insanely busy. I can tell that they can barely remember to take our credit card which happened again today with Owen, who is Q Ming and the Owner's son. We have to remember to tell you to take our credit card? There's a procedure to all this and it's very simple. Maybe they should write it out and give it to everyone because when the phones ringing everyone seems to get very antsy.zthid is just the way the restaurant business is and you should be glad you're so damn busy. The delivery person managed to do a very good job except he, along with everybody else in the universe cannot use the door doorbell for this apartment building. I always have to make sure I'm dressed with the keys in my pocket to go out and let him in. All in all, it's OK this restaurant but way too big of a menu, as all Chinese restaurants seem to have. I would cut that menu in half just too many items to keep fresh and keep track of and certainly there's no chef to manage these things. Just because you have fun in a restaurant doesn't mean it's any fun working or running one so I try and we try to give them a little bit of a break. Still so annoyed that Q Ming cannot admit her son might've made a mistake. Maybe it's just us That feel this helicopter parenting is ridiculous. I'm sure he was still there. We're both sure of it. If you like Chinese food, you would love this place. This place has the best fried rice and sweet-and-sour chicken. Their chicken wings are so good and juicy. I get them every time I go there. The service there is very quick and the people there are very nice and respectful. Would recommend to anyone who likes chicken and Chinese food. Delicious. read more

This has the best Chinese food in the area. It's the closest you can get to NYC quality. The hot and sour soup, cold noodles with sesame sauce, and boneless spare ribs are always hits. If you like traditional "American" Chinese food, this place may not be for you. This has been our go-to for years, and we have tried lots of others in the area. Chinatown Kitchen in Peekskill is fair, nothing special, typical take out Chinese food. We live local (about a mile away) and have been ordering here for years, but lately the flavor of the food has gone downhill and is often bland and hit/miss. We recently ordered food for delivery and were charged a $ 1.50 "Gas Fee" - they don't mention it and it's not shown on their menu, so don't be surprised when you see it on your delivery bill. One more thing - the menu lists and order 10 pieces of pan fried wonton, which are pretty good (except for the very salty sauce),but there were only 8 pieces in the order, and this has happened both times we ordered it. read more

This is a strictly take-out or delivery establishment. They by far make the best Chinese food in the area. I lived in NYC for most of my life and ate more than my share of Chinese cuisine. 1 star because I can't do NO STARS and because their food is actually good. "10 minutes" turns into 30 minutes plus for small, simple orders. The two women that run the front desk are RUDE when THEY screw up an order, RUDE when THEY "don't get an online order" (from their own website, not Grubhub or the like) and you question it (with a confirmation number/email)...and then they exchange glances with each other after looking at their phone and realizing it's there but they were too busy talking to each other to see it originally. Sent me to the hospital! Everyone who ate the food from here got sick, the food poison for me was so bad i went to the emergency at 4am. We go here pretty frequently, never had gotten sick before. We get wonton soup and General tso chicken combo with pork fried rice and egg roll. I know they are going through construction so they have made a mistake but thats no excuse when you serve food! With tax their lunch specials are $6.28 and as with all Chinese places, you get a plethora of food. If that food is not good however, it really doesn't matter how much you get. I ordered the #13 (chicken lo mein) and got the pork fried rice and wonton soup to go with it. Everything had a weird, bitter/burned taste to it and tey also went very heavy on the sesame oil. Also, their fried rice is yellow, not the brown I'm accustomed to. Overall not very good and I don't think I'll order from them again. I normally try to stay away from this place because I don't like the taste of their food but this is the place my coworkers order lunch from every Tuesday. This week I decided to order from there and I got a DEAD BUG IN MY RICE!!! I literally had to run to the bathroom and wash my mouth! HORRIBLE My family called for take-out, we were told 45 minutes. An hour and a half later, still not here. When we called to see how long, we were told they were here...25 minutes later that was true. Their reason being "it's the weekend." Yes BUT say that on the phone, do not lie first about the amount of time, and then again when we call! I have worked in food service for many years, I understand it is not always feasible to get orders out in the estimated time, but at least be apologetic and do what you can to accommodate. And if you're like me and usually read reviews about poor service but usually give them the benefit of the doubt, the food wasn't all the great. Chinatown Kitchen is your typical take-out place. Three stars for solid, consistent, just what you would expect, Americanized Chinese food. Never had a negative experience nor any missed items. When you call in to-go/pick-up orders they are usually 10-15 minutes even during prime dinner times. Took over an hour for delivery. When told a half hour. There a 2 minute drive from my house.Called to give them 5 minutes before I cancel my order. Showed up in 5 minutes with cold food. Being one of the only chinese restaurants in the area and closest to where I am staying at the moment, I decided to try Chinatown Kitchen. The storefront isn't much to look at, but neither is any take out Chinese place. Based on the reviews is one of the reasons why I decided to try it. I got a basic General Tso's chicken with eggrolls. General Tso's is usually spicy, but this one had no spices whatsoever really. I got a hint of that typical sweetness associated with General Tso's but other than that, it was forgettable. The eggrolls here are obviously store bought and are heated up in the kitchen. The food isn't bad, but is simply being edible enough to garner much attention? Honestly, I would spend my money getting frozen stuff from A&P next door, but if you really want some Chinese prepared for you and are not big on flavor, then this is a place for you! read more

I came to this establishment and right away the young woman at the cash register with the tattoo on her hand gave me an attitude for placing an order. She impatiently huffed and puffed while having an obnoxious smirk on her face. When I received my order I checked it immediately and of course she "mistakenly" forgot one dinner. My Favorite Takeout I am not a connoisseur of Chinese Takeout but I know my way around a Chinese Buffet and can handle chopsticks as god as Mao once did. I really loved this place when it was open in the small shopping center on Welcher. I am dying for their re-opening as they operate on Washington St. temporarily. From eating on Welcher several times, both takeout and eat in, I got to know, the front and back of house. The chefs are all Chinese Speaking only so I could only communicate n the mot primitive manner, but at watched them at work a great deal. All the soups are made fresh from scratch DAILY and they are great. The Hot and Sour is in my ALL TIME BEST. Wontons and dumplings and eg rolls/shrimp rolls hand made,and the chicken, pork and beef hand butchered. The entrees are standard takeout on the VERY GOOD scale. Their Chow Mei Fun (thin rice noodles replacing Lo Mein noodles with the standard shrimp-chicken-pork or beef) can vary from GREAT to Very Good depending on the chef. It is one of my favorite dishes especially when you order the chili to accent it. The women up front are sweethearts, and always busy taking orders, prepping and /or making wonton and dumplings. A job change took me off my clockwork stops here three times a week since they were a quick pit stop off Rte. 9A -Welcher Avenue exit , so I have not frequented the place as much as I once did. But, they can count on me once a week and more once they transition bac from their Washington Ave. location. I just hope the total renovation of the place and all the stores in one part of the Center is completed very soon and that will not cause a SKYROCKETING of their rent. I do not do much fried food at all, but the chicken wings, quarters and halves seem to be standard order for about 40% of their orders. Wings & Fries or Wings & Pork Fried Rice.
