We stopped here for lunch out of convenience as we were driving through the area. The reviews for this place seem quite rough. We ordered the Chicken with Garlic Sauce and the Chicken with Cashew lunch specials. My experience yielded very friendly, personable service and the food came out hot and flavorful. For a lunch special the quantity was also plentiful. I had to get a to-go container. We had no issues with our food whatsoever and even commented this is actually good. The inside of the restaurant has room for improvement. There were boxes and other clutter. I see this establishment as more of a take-out place, even though there is a dining area. If my review was based on solely food alone, I'd be easily give it a 4. read more

I gave them another chance because I was literally in the shopping center at lunchtime and I was hungry. I decided to go with the Americanized General Tso's chicken lunch special, with an egg roll and white rice. I am exactly 4 minutes away, so food should still be hot. The egg roll was barely warm. Mostly wrapper with very little filling. No amount of duck sauce could help. My next question is how can a Chinese restaurant serve overcooked, mushy rice? Half of it seemed okay, but half was mushy. It's like they mixed old rice and new rice. The chicken had 2 tiny pieces of broccoli! The chicken itself was mostly breading - very little actual chicken. The sauce was gloppy. They get an extra star because they are friendly and quick. The restaurant could also use some updating - although that could be overlooked if the food was better. Oh, their portion sizes are generous. Too bad it's not very good. Next time I'll just grab a frozen dinner in the supermarket and cook it myself - it's just as good! read more

I've only been here for take out. Staff is very nice. Food is okay. I live in Whiting and there aren't many options around so unless I want to travel this is my go to place. Wish there were more options. read more

I know it's currently under Renovations and Not open right now. But when it was, I loved the Beef and Mushroom, White Rice, Sweet N Sour Chicken and the Fried Noodles. All were amazing. Can't wait for it to RE-OPEN soon. I will be ordering again when they are back. read more

I always get my steamed dumplings and shrimp egg rolls. So very good. Not stuffed into a thick shell but a thin shell and it is filled. Nice size portions I also like the beef with garlic and it is always enjoyable. Rice is fluffy. Just enough brown garlic juices to make it good the day after also if I'm unable to finish in day one. Wife gets her General Taos chicken and it's always good. Not as spicy as we've had elsewhere but good. read more

Yesterday I ordered house special Chop Suey. It was absolutely delicious.. I never ordered this before but thought I'd try it and I'm happy I did. Full of fresh vegetables, shrimp chicken and a delicious sauce! And the price was unbelievably reasonable for what was in the dish. Can't wait to order it again.! read more

Won't ever order anything from them again!!! Horrible. The restaurant is 0.7 miles from me. Took over 1 hour to deliver!!! After many calls. Food was cold and nasty. Couldn't even eat it read more

Came here on Christmas w/ the wife & In-Laws. Staff is very friendly, and we appreciated the fact that they were open on a holiday. My wife and I shared a Pu Pu Platter, my Mother-In-Law ordered the General Tso's Chicken, and my Father-In-Law had the Shrimp Lo Mein. I felt the Pu Pu Platter was very underwhelming, I've had better. Had a taste of the General Tso's, I thought it was OK, pretty average. My In-Laws come here often, they like the food served at China Town, but for me, it just seems to be another mediocre Chinese place. I rather hit a Chinese buffet instead, because at least at a buffet, I'll usually find something decent to eat. But that's me. read more

Hi! I got delivery from China Town the other night and I was very pleased! My delivery person was friendly and prompt. My wonton soup was hot and tasty. The Chinese noodles were fresh, light & crispy! My diet chicken & broccoli was freshly steamed. They sent lots of sauces and fortune cookies. My only comment would be the brown sauce on the side of my main dish was small, and the scallion pancakes were greasy. I had plenty for leftovers on all and enjoyed it the next day too. I will order from China Town again! read more

In a word, "DISGUSTING!" Wow, I've never had Chinese food this bad. If I could give these maniacs a zero I would. I'm really shocked that Chinese food could be made this bad. Absolutely terrible. Fried rice was flavorless. Egg roll was flavorless. Egg drop soup was a congealed lump of foulness. Sweet & Sour pork was tiny bits of pork and lots of breading; no peppers, no pineapples, no veggies. The lumps of breaded pork were accompanied by a side bowl of congealed flavorless red sauce. I threw it all in the garbage. I could have fed it to my dog, but I love my dog. Do yourself a favor. Run from this dump. I'd cut my own throat before eating this swill again. It is, without a doubt, bar none, the worst excuse for Chinese food that I've ever had. These folks should be arrested for selling this poison. This stuff makes terrible Chinese food look delicious! read more

Yelp describes two stars as "Could've Been Better" and being used to Chinese food from San Francisco, Philadelphia and New York City I would say that it could have been MUCH better. That said, the owners are pleasant, the food is typical for American-style Cantonese food, and they cater to the elderly population with its accompanying enthusiasm for easy to digest (i.e. overcooked) and middle of the road cuisine. Your mileage may differ. Suggestions for improvements include: + Leaving half of the sauce on the side + Using less sugar and corn starch + Serving General Tso's crispy (and without broccoli) + Adding Sichuan or Guizhou items like Mapo Tofu or Kung Pao Chicken that are authentically spicy. + Adding Dim sum like; soup dumplings or Char Siu Bao read more

Worst I have ever had and I been eating Chinese for forty years. Cheapest ingredients couldn't even get the pork fried rice even close to being right. I read reviews but still wanted to give a try. I was even warned by a local and still tried. I asked for a lot of extra mustard and they sent two. I reminded seven (7) times for extra mustard and still only two. I called and they brought me more mustard (a lot). Only 7 more. Good grief. Nine total mustards for four people Crab Rangoon was edible but everything else went in the garbage. UN EDIBLE for sure. Also the Mustard was out dated and bad. Can't say enough. read more

This restaurant is disgusting & the food is garbage. Should have walked out when they served water in dirty glasses that were sticky. Only got worse from there. Ordered chow mei fun & the noodle was overlooked and gross. Ordered beef with broccoli & it was made with frozen limp broccoli and there was about 4 pieces of beef in there. We all got sick after eating this food. The cook should be arrested for serving this for human consumption. Avoid this place. read more

generic, american style chinese food found in thousands of towns. doesn't have to be good because chances are, it's the only one. general chicken was small, mostly flour in the ubiquitous brown sauce, Not surprisingly the same sauce formed the basis of our 'scallops' dish, which turned out to be a few of the tiny, bay variety in a sea of colorful vegetables. at least (BYO) we had decent, cold beer, indispensable with chinese, good or bad. they were folding fresh won-tons by hand at a nearby table, so the mrs. ordered a deep fried app. we suspected the miniscule insides were undercooked and did not eat. only dip for crunchy munchies and said won-tons was that reddish and unpalatable sweet stuff...walked out muttering, 'never again'...and our poor stomachs reminded us why the next 36 hours...we'd heard the pizzaria two doors down in the same strip mall was the best in town...so if you absolutely MUST eat in the area...one down, one to go... read more
