My preference is to do chiro before acupuncture, and the office is always willing to do what they can from a scheduling perspective to accommodate my request, which brings us to our first stop, Justin! Embarrassing for me, but I've cried a few times in Justin's face because of aches and pains. Justin always takes his time to listen to my physical woes, and he goes to work to get 'em out. He uses a variety of methods from heat to stim to good 'ol chiropractic adjustments- all with a smile. The hour long session feels like it's 5 minutes, and I always wake up feeling fully refreshed. We usually end our sessions with cupping, which has been a game changer in my physical healing journey. At first things were okay, the meds, the shots, but then the fertility clinic I was going to was really having a hard time communicating things to each other and myself, which started to kinda stress me out. I was just another number in their cattle call. My first cycle I got one embryo. Long story short, 24 hours before I was supposed to start the second retrieval cycle, I had a panic attack while I was home working. I didn't know what was happening or why so I called my doctor and she advised me that I was psychotic, I needed a psych eval and she told me I could not continue IVF the next day because it was not normal for me or any woman going through this process to have a panic attack. I felt awful and truly didn't understand what just happened. I started to question if I should be having kids after this conversation and started wondering about my own mental health. Truthfully, I did feel psychotic and I had no idea why because this was not typical for me. Thankfully, I found Lisa at Harmony Acupuncture and she took the time out of her day after I called inquiring about how she could help me. She called me from her cell outside of her working hours and we talked for a good 30-40 minutes. Lisa educated me about the IVF process, which I did not know much about before that conversation. She also assured me that how I was feeling was super normal and truly very common. She believed that I had IVF PTSD. Her kind and educational words were filled with everything I needed to hear and gave me confidence about moving forward with the process with a new fertility clinic I had found. Lisa took unpaid time to explain to me how she could help me and educated me on the details of how her process and the IVF process worked together which gave me clear insight on what to expect. She really took the time to get to know who I was and asked me a lot of questions about me so she could tailor a specific plan unique to my needs that would help get me back on track... starting with reducing my stress and getting my body back to a healthy mental and physical place for round two. What I really loved about Lisa, aside from the fact that she took so much time out to get to know me and understand my concerns, needs and desires before I even paid her AND made me feel so much better and hopeful about moving forward so quickly, was that she was adamant about me not committing to her until I came to the facility and met her and her staff. She truly wanted me to feel the full experience that was possible for me and make sure I felt confidently aligned with what she and her staff could offer in her facility. I came in on a Saturday and she looked at all my labs and was able to go over in detail what they meant, where I was, and where I needed to be and why. Lisa is very educated in the fertility process and will tell you what reality is regardless if you want to hear it or not. I respect her honesty in that way and love how she follows up with a calm resolution to challenges. When I go to the office the staff is always cheerful and pleasant and there's always a full bowl of Dove chocolates waiting for me as well as different tea options in the seating area. It's a very calming office with dim lights and tranquil audio playing in your patient room that helps to easily guide you through a meditative state of complete relaxation through your session. I always feel calm and refreshed after leaving there. Every visit Lisa goes through labs and takes her time in answering all my questions, and I always have a ton. She has evening and Saturday appointments and parking street parking is usually great during non prime hours. But there is a parking garage and she validates it so it truly is an easy-access facility. I am three days away from my next retrieval and am very excited about the outcome. I know that her services have helped me get to where I am today, feeling calmer, more confident and now I even have bruising on my belly from the injections which I didn't have before. I know the acupuncture helped to get better circulation to cause that. Normally no one would brag about a bruised belly, but this is the true exception. I will come back soon and update after the retrieval because I am so confident that this time will be more successful, I've felt the difference mentally and physically this time around and I truly believe that Lisa was a big part of that.
