I have been a patient at Harmony Health with Kelly Lee for over a year now and I can honestly say booking that first appointment was one of the best things I've ever done for myself.
I first heard about Kelly and Harmony Health from my fertility doctor, Dr. Kaplan over at FCI. He told me that he notices his patients that do acupuncture just tend to do better with their infertility treatment. That's all I had to hear. I was on the phone leaving a long rambling voicemail for Kelly that very same day. And I can only say wonderful things about my experience with Kelly and Harmony Health.
My initial phone conversation with Kelly was incredibly comforting and through. We discussed everything. From my medical history to my fertility journey thus far to her thoughts and ideas, and she of course she answered my many questions. Kelly got me booked to come in right away for my first appointment and at that appointment we had a long in depth consultation regarding my treatment, history, and habits.
Then came the moment of truth! It was time to hop on the table and get "needled." I feel so cool using that term. Needled. Hehe. ANYWAY- I was a little anxious to have someone I hardly knew stick a bunch of needles in me but Kelly calmed any fears I had. And believe it or not I enjoyed the whole experience. I also felt pretty bad ass walking out of there and calling my mom (who has a fear of needles) to tell her guess what I just did?
The acupuncture itself is AMAZING you guys! You lie on the table (sometimes on your tummy, sometimes on your back) and Kelly places the needles. And it feels so good. You get to sit under these heat lamps in the dark and doze off while listening to spa like music. I've also done cupping with Kelly and the cupping is better than a massage. It's a super cool process to watch Kelly do, and it feels great! It absolutely helps to detox and pull all the junk up and out!
I'd also like to mention the overall ambiance of the office. It's a warm, cozy, inviting space. It's not sterile and depressing like a doctor's office or any type of medical clinic would be. When I enter Harmony Health I'm able to exhale and relax and just enjoy my entire experience.
Kelly is by far the most compassionate person I've met during my fertility journey. Over the last 2.5 years I've met doctors and nurses and shared our struggles with family and friends and co-workers and even acquaintances. And NO ONE... I mean NO ONE has offered me the support, comfort, compassion, calm, patience, care, expertise and friendship that Kelly has. Yes I said friendship. I don't see her as an acupuncturist I'm paying to provide a service- I see her (and her whole team) as my friends. I go twice a week most weeks (unless I have a scheduling conflict) and I can honestly say it's the most relaxing, theraupeutic part of my week. Some weeks when I can't go twice or when I can't go at all due to travel I can FEEL the physical impact of missing my appointments. I notice a distinct difference in my energy and anxiety and stress when I go versus when I don't- and it's incredible! When I have a rough day one of the first things my mom says is you need to call Kelly and get needled because my mom knows how much anxiety these appointments relieve for me.
Kelly treats every patient like the most important patient she has. She told me that all of her patients are like her kids. She gets incredibly involved in her patients' treatment. She offers advice and opinions if you ask for it (and I often do as the fertility world can be a confusing, scary place). She told me early on that she wants updates on my treatment with Dr. Kaplan and to shoot her a text as I get updates during a treatment cycle- not just because it helps her to make treatment decisions for me, but also because she really CARES about her patients success overall. More than once I got news from my fertility clinic that wasn't good and I texted Kelly all distraught and upset. I cannot tell you how many times she's dropped whatever she was doing and called me to talk me off the ledge, so to speak. She has sat on the phone with me for an hour on several occasions when I was upset and in tears about something. She has helped me through my tears and my fears and my worries and my concerns- both over a phone call and in person at her office. She takes the time to personally hold her patients' hand and guide them through what is an incredibly difficult, confusing, emotional journey. And without Kelly in my corner I'd have given up long ago. I've told my mom and my husband more than once that Kelly is my angel because just when I think I want to throw in the towel and give up, or just when I've received crushing news from my fertility doctor, Kelly swoops in and takes the time to listen to me, calm me down, offer advice, kind words, encouragement, and support. And even if you aren't a fertility patient don't worry- she treats everything and everyone- men and women- whatever ails you! read more
