From the very beginning of…read moremy fertility journey, he has gone above and beyond to support me through what has been an incredibly complex and emotional experience with endometriosis and adenomyosis. From the start, it was clear that Dr. Nguyen approaches his patients with a rare combination of expertise, precision, and genuine compassion. He took the time to truly understand my case, which was far from straightforward, and created a thoughtful, individualized plan to give me the best possible chance at success. Over the course of my treatment, Dr. Nguyen performed surgery, including a biopsy to ensure we had the most accurate information before moving forward, and guided me through two embryo transfers along with multiple protocols tailored specifically to my condition. Each step of the way, he was thorough, attentive, and incredibly intentional--constantly adjusting and refining the approach to improve outcomes in a very challenging situation. What sets him apart is not just his medical expertise, but how deeply he cares. He never made me feel like just another patient or a number. Even during the most difficult moments, he remained patient, reassuring, and fully invested in my journey. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered every question, and made sure I felt supported and informed throughout the process. Endometriosis and adenomyosis can make fertility feel overwhelming and uncertain, but Dr. Nguyen brought a level of strategy, persistence, and hope that made all the difference. I always felt like I had someone truly in my corner, advocating for the best possible outcome. I also want to recognize his incredible team. Avery, his nurse, has been such a steady, compassionate presence throughout this process--always responsive, patient, and genuinely caring. The entire staff and techs at the clinic have been consistently kind, supportive, and professional during every visit over the past year and a half. Their warmth and attention to detail have made a difficult journey feel much more manageable. After a long and challenging journey, I'm so grateful to share that I recently graduated from the clinic--a moment that felt truly surreal and wouldn't have been possible without Dr. Nguyen and his team. If you are dealing with complex fertility challenges, especially related to endometriosis or adenomyosis, Dr. Nguyen is the kind of doctor you want by your side. His dedication, intelligence, and compassion are unmatched. I am beyond grateful for the care he and his team have provided and the impact they have had on my journey.

I did not receive an abdominal diagnosis or a personalized treatment plan and a strategy that addresses diet, lifestyle, and chinese medicine recommendations. I felt really rushed and I've never had an acupuncture session where the practitioner sat in the room with me after the needles were in to talk to me. I also felt like the practitioner rushed the needles on me, they all were painful going in and that isn't my experience with others. For $205 I expected more care and attention and it almost feels like the business is only in this for the money and are taking advantage of women like me who are really looking for help. I also don't understand why follow-up acupuncture treatments in the 5 session package are $125 per session for 30 mins and then an additional fee for Celluma as an add-on; here is where I feel like the business is overcharging and taking advantage. Needless to say, I will not be returning as I don't feel I was serviced to what your website states. Thank you for seeing me for the 40 mins I was in office. I first met Dr. Shashoua after a failed embryo transfer that left me septic, internally bleeding, and in critical condition. I was so sick that I didn't fully understand what was happening -- I was truly dying. Dr. Shashoua stepped in with the urgency, skill, and calm confidence that only an exceptional surgeon can bring. He performed the emergency operation that saved my life, and I will forever be grateful. After stabilizing me, he did something that shows how deeply he cares about his patients: he referred me to a far better fertility doctor because he knew I needed more specialized and attentive care than I had previously received. That referral changed everything for my fertility journey. A few months later, he performed my endometriosis excision surgery and removed my tubes. These were major, life-altering procedures, and he approached every decision with precision, empathy, and extraordinary expertise. I now see him regularly to monitor and manage my endometriosis and infertility, and he continues to provide the highest level of care. What sets him apart is how closely he works hand-in-hand with my fertility doctor, ensuring that every aspect of my treatment is coordinated. My case is extremely complex and often overwhelming, but he has never once made me feel like a burden. He treats me with compassion, respect, and true dedication. If you have endometriosis, fertility challenges, pelvic pain, or any complicated gynecologic or urologic condition, Dr. Shashoua is the doctor you want in your corner. While we ultimately had success with this clinic, that outcome came despite the care we received,…read morenot because of it. Over the course of multiple IVF cycles, we experienced persistent miscommunication, poor coordination, unprofessional conduct, surprise billing, and a lack of basic systems that caused unnecessary stress during an already physically and emotionally taxing process. 1. Serious consent and communication failures One of the most alarming issues involved ICSI. Due to a history of poor outcomes, we were explicit, both verbally and in signed paperwork, that we did not consent to full ICSI. After significant pressure from the clinic, we agreed to limited use on a very small percentage of eggs. Even up until the time we were in the OR, staff appeared unclear on what had been decided. We later received a call stating that 100% of our eggs had undergone ICSI, directly contradicting our consent. After we raised concerns, we were told this was a "mistake" in the chart and that the nurse had misspoken. Given the gravity of the situation, this explanation did little to restore trust. Informed consent is not optional in fertility treatment, and this incident was deeply unsettling. 2. Unprofessional physician conduct Our primary physician, Dr. Angie Beltsos, repeatedly communicated with us while distracted or unavailable. On one occasion, she FaceTimed me from her car using her personal phone. Her video background briefly glitched, revealing a teenager seated in the passenger seat while my medical care was being discussed. This raised serious concerns regarding professionalism, patient privacy, and safety. When we expressed confusion or frustration, after many rounds of IVF and repeated errors, responses were often defensive rather than collaborative. At one point, when my husband asked whether she had time to speak with us because she seemed rushed, she responded curtly that she was "shopping for her family right now." These interactions felt dismissive and inappropriate given the stakes of fertility treatment. 3. Questionable protocol guidance Dr. Beltsos stated that she had extensive experience with my specific egg quality issue and strongly advocated for a protocol that ultimately failed in exactly the ways we had feared. Concerns about excessive stimulation and duration were dismissed. Ultimately, success came only after I personally drove protocol decisions, which underscored how disengaged and unsupported we felt as patients. 4. Chronic scheduling and coordination failures We repeatedly arrived for appointments only to find incorrect labs ordered, surprise tests added, or appointments misclassified altogether. On several occasions, staff could not explain why a test or procedure had been scheduled. Communication between nurses was clearly inconsistent, leading to wasted time, unnecessary visits, and confusion. Hysteroscopy scheduling was particularly chaotic, involving contradictory information about equipment availability and days-long delays to confirm appointments. 5. Medication mismanagement The handling of Lupron Depot was especially disorganized. After receiving approval from Dr. Beltsos, we were later told, by different staff members, that additional testing was required, that the medication might not be allowed due to possible ovulation, and then that it might be fine after all. We received conflicting guidance from multiple nurses and the physician herself, with potential delays to retrieval that were not feasible for us. To make matters worse, we were scheduled for the wrong appointment date. When I arrived as instructed, the error caused me to miss work and scramble to arrange last-minute class coverage. 6. Billing and financial issues The clinic failed to pre-approve anesthesia through Aetna, resulting in a billing dispute that lasted more than six months. We were charged for procedures, including assisted hatching, that were never agreed upon in advance. Billing staff later contacted us about issues that had already been resolved, clearly without reviewing our account history. 7. Privacy concerns Staff openly discussed my case in the waiting room, including confusion about procedures and scheduling. One staff member had to be shushed. Hearing my medical situation discussed publicly was humiliating and unacceptable.Administrative negligence Despite a five-month gap between cycles, the clinic failed to notify me that an updated physical exam (including a breast exam) was required. I discovered this at baseline, on the very day I was supposed to start stimulation, while I was out of state, which the clinic knew. This could have delayed treatment entirely.

But where most of the other receptionists kind of act like they're resentful they have to help you, he's incredibly upbeat and made me feel like hated his job or having to help me. My doctor here was Dr. Boots. I found her to be friendly, knowledgeable, optimistic, and willing to listen. When I suggested increasing a dosage for one of my IUI cycles, she was happy to let me do so. When we had a second consult after the first couple cycles weren't successful, she suggested doing a injectable IUI cycle before moving on to IVF, but she left the decision to me. The injectable cycle was very successful. I know she is thrilled for me. When you work with a fertility clinic, you'll spend most of your time working with and talking to the technicians and the nursing staff. If you're not prepared for that, you'll need to rethink treatment or seek out a clinic that may be hard to find. The nursing staff consult with the doctors, of course, and I never felt ignored by anyone when I had questions or concerns. I would recommend Northwestern and will use them again if I decide to embark on a sibling cycle.

They just sign off on whatever the tech said and don't translate the tech report for those of us without medical degrees. They'll prescribe things without telling you they did so, without telling you why they're prescribing those things, and without giving you instructions about how/when to use them, and for how long. On top of that, it's almost impossible to get them to respond to any questions over MyChart or the phone, which is really bad for such a complicated process. They also don't offer paracervical blocks, an extremely common pain management procedure, during painful procedures like the SIS. This is something that is the standard default at other reputable repro healthcare centers, including Planned Parenthood. At first, we didn't even hear back from them about this request. Nothing from the doctor. Nothing from the nurses. No acknowledgment that I'd requested pain management at all. We called and messaged multiple times. When we finally were able to talk to a nurse, the DAY OF THE PROCEDURE, we were told that no one had ever asked for a paracervical block before, and they had no one qualified to administer it. Really?? At a supposedly cutting-edge medical facility?? Instead, they sent prescriptions to my pharmacy without telling us they'd done so, for an anti-anxiety and some lidocaine that I had to bring with me for them to apply topically. It didn't help with the pain. Even before this, we wanted to change our doctor, but guess what? It's against their office policy to allow patients to switch to a different doctor. No matter the reason. So if you have a bad experience with your doctor, you either have to stick with them, or you have to go to an entirely different health system and start over. This is ridiculous and honestly unethical. I tried to appeal this policy and was told the person who determines exceptions would call me within 2 business days to hear my case. They never called, and all anyone can do is keep sending messages to that person asking them to call us, which they apparently continuously choose to ignore. So we're stuck with our current doctor. Why didn't we like our doctor? Because she treated us poorly from the beginning. She also kept highlighting over and over that death was a risk for each step of the process, so "you might want to change your minds about moving forward." It became so pushy that it almost seemed like she wanted us to decide against this, which was wild. For context, this was just her going through the normal egg retrieval and IVF processes with us and their normal risks during our first meeting with her. It had nothing to do with any concerns about me as a patient, or any unusual risks that I'd face. You can absolutely talk realistically about risks without doing what she did. Even the front desk staff are straight up rude even though my spouse and I were nothing but nice and upbeat with them. I will say that I had a good phlebotomist and a good ultrasound tech, so that's a positive. But the person who did my SIS, while nice, was really rough with the insertion of the speculum. Rough to the point of pain. As an SA survivor, this was super triggering. Beyond that, it's bad technique and could lead to injury. Overall, I would definitely NOT recommend this office. I'm currently trying to find a different place for care. No one should feel this dehumanized and unsafe for a process that is already extremely difficult and vulnerable. I'm bummed that Rush's fertility center closed, so I'll be looking into independent fertility clinics. For your mental and physical health, I'd suggest staying away from NM's Fertility & Repro Medicine department.

Their response was that I have to have a "letter of clearance that my therapist is comfortable with me moving forward in the egg freezing process." I must express how deeply disappointing my experience has been. It is situations like this that contribute to that anxiety & mental health stigma in our country. It is both shocking and disheartening that a fertility clinic would OVERLOOK BODY AUTONOMY and instead place decision-making authority with my therapist, with whom I have no significant diagnosis. I hope that in the future, the clinic's policies and communication are handled more thoughtfully to ensure other women do not leave feeling as I do. We must do better for women's health.
