I saw Laura as a second opinion IBCLC earlier this year. She identified my son's tongue tie, and recommended the Dentist (Dentistry for Kids) to get it revised. That alone saved our breast feeding journey. The rest of Laura's services were fine, but she offered no further information than I already knew and didn't have many suggestions in the way of increasing my supply. Laura is a very nice person and very approachable. She'd communicate directly via text message. The Intake form was very thorough and I appreciate that she tried to understand the big picture. However, I can't recommend her to anyone. If you are all about homeopathic remedies, then she is the person for you. Unfortunately, I believe that is pseudo science. She even recommended craniosacral therapy which is just absolutely ridiculous to me. I wanted to keep an open mind, so asked her why that would help my baby breastfeeding. She never directly answered my question with a logical explanation, but kept repeating "everything in my body is all connected". She was convinced that my baby has tongue tie and lip tie and I should address it ASAP with the doctor she recommends. I did some research and it is true that my baby has some degrees of lip tie, but it doesn't affect breastfeeding. Additionally, she wanted to convince me to bed share with my baby which I told her I wasn't comfortable with. She then got really aggressive and told me that it is a natural thing to do and it is not harmful. She was so focused on her agenda that she ignored my questions regarding milk supply and pumping. Later on, I learned that Laura is an anti-vaxxer. She also expressed her frustration on wearing a mask because of Covid and she said that wearing a mask is more harmful than Covid. I am incredibly grateful for Laura's support. Breastfeeding was very painful for me for the first 2.5 months. A lactation consultant from out-of-state noticed my daughter's tongue tie and recommended we get it addressed, but after the procedure I was still having pain. At our first appointment, Laura identified that the tongue tie was still present, and my daughter had lip and cheek ties. I cannot recommend her services. She did not really help me resolve my issue but more than that she sent me about a dozen emails with videos and information about not vaccinating your child. I never asked for advice about that and it was completely offensive. Laura changed our lives and we're so thankful for her help! She's an expert in breastfeeding and she cares about the health and well-being of babies and mommas too! A little backstory: Before seeing Laura, I saw a lactation consultant (LC) at my baby's former pediatrician's office. I was having severe pain in my nipples for 13 weeks after each feeding and dreaded each one. The baby would spend an hour at the breast and would cry when I took her off, never satiated. I brought up questions to my pediatrician and lactation consultant on numerous occasions: Does my baby have a tongue tie? Why does it hurt so bad when she feeds? Why are her feedings so long? What cues should I look for in a baby who is getting enough milk? Long answer short, I didn't get answers for those questions and I was pushed in the direction of formula. Not that there is anything wrong with using formula, I was just passionate about trying to breastfeed my baby because I was interested in the natural antibodies and nutritional benefits of breastmilk. Reasons you should contact Laura: I finally did some research and realized I needed to be seen by an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I had no idea there was a difference between a LC and an IBCLC, but there definitely is one. I came across Laura's name and gave her a call, she was quick to respond and was able to make a home visit the following day. She had a thorough questionnaire to get my full history, and she truly listened to the problems I was having and gave me some helpful information to prepare for her visit. Within minutes of her visit she identified that my baby had a lip and tongue tie. It was the biggest relief to find out that all the issues I was having with breastfeeding were real and that there was help for them. Laura's help didn't end there, she helped me with breastfeeding positions, with the baby's latch, completed a weighted feed, gave me suggestions for supplements to help increase my milk production, taught me how to do paced bottle feeds, helped me understand the importance of natural remedies, allowed me to have an open, honest conversation on all the questions I had as a new mom, and pointed me in the direction of other health care providers that could help with the tongue tie release and after care. She followed through with checkups- asking about the baby and me after the release and continued to show that she cared. I think the most important thing Laura did for me was to reassure and encourage me to listen to my intuition as a new mom. I have nothing but positive things to say about my visit from Laura. I'm a first time mom who had my heart dedicated to breastfeeding my child for at least a year (preferably two). I never thought I would be the one to deal with supply issues since my pregnancy, delivery and baby were all so "normal" and healthy (although I was induced). Well as luck would have it- my supply was almost nothing. And of course all of us mothers worry about our supply from the beginning and wonder if baby is getting enough so we look for the signs: diapers, weight gain and how satisfied the baby feels after he eats. My son was NEVER satisfied, would constantly fall asleep at the breast but would be up every 30min crying. And his weight gain was almost non existent. Executive care! I have been giving Laura's contact and highly recommending her to all my pregnant and new mom friends. Laura is not a hippie-breast-milk-only fanatic: her first concern was my son's health--she told me and my husband to feed my son formula right away and she would assess the situation in the morning. She is a registered nurse and took all of my son's vitals--weight, temperature, heart rate--when she came to my house. Laura is highly educated in (obscure) female issues; the first question she asked me (in regards to my lack of milk production) was "Do you have polycyclic ovarian syndrome (pcos)?" LITERAL LIFESAVER! Baby was born at the 72% for weight then dropped to 15%. From 6-14 weeks old, I could not figure out what was wrong after going to four different peds, an ENT, and two LCs. Eventually it devolved into baby crying hysterically all the time and REFUSING TO NURSE. I was severely depressed because I could not figure out what was wrong for TWO MONTHS! I was worried my baby had something wrong internally and was going to die. Thank god I found Laura! She was immediately available to do a home visit and expertly tied together all our symptoms (baby's symptoms, my "low supply") to deduce that baby had severe tongue and lip ties which were preventing an effective latch. Baby was BFing constantly but starving!! which down-regulated my supply. I was able to get the ties lasered immediately (at 3 months) and Laura continued to work with me to get my supply up. When my son was born 2/11/18, he wasn't latching on properly. Nurses and doctors told me that it was because he was considered premature (he was born at 37 weeks) and that with time, he would begin to latch on better. After time passed he still wasn't latching on properly and I was beginning to worry I'd have to stop breastfeeding. Up until that point I was pumping just to protect my milk supply which was rapidly decreasing. I was also forced to supplement with formula which caused colic! It was a nightmare! I was desperate, I knew something was wrong. I decided I wanted a second opinion so I searched online and found Laura. I wanted someone who could come to my house so we could be in the comfort of our own home. Laura was able to fit me in within two days! I worked with Laura after my son had his lip and tongue ties released, but we were still having problem breastfeeding (lots of pain). Laura was so friendly and easy to work with. I was also able to get her to my house in a short notice. She is very knowledgeable about oral ties and how they affect breastfeeding. During the visit she confirmed what I've been suspecting, that my son's tongue tie had either reattached or it was revised all the way the first time. She gave me a lot of tips on how I can work with the tongue tie, gave me lots of info on how to treat my chronic clogged ducts, mastitis etc. I felt so much better after meeting and working with her. She also would keep up our communication even though I only paid for the 1 visit, she would text me and check in with me. When I suspected I had mastitis, she helped me thru it with a more natural and homeopathic approach, I didn't even actually have to call my doctor! Laura seems genuinely well meaning and prepared to help. She has a lot of information and starts giving a lot of it from the start. Unfortunately, while part of that information is great, the other part is unscientific woo, and you're left sorting the good from the bad - and there is a lot to sort through. She's also apparently well known around town to recommend tongue tie surgeries a lot - which may certainly be justified (although you'll hear mixed opinions on this - several other professionals we spoke with suggested that tongue tie is simply the go to when simple fixes fail) - since she obviously doesn't deal with a random sampling of people. However even if releasing the tongue tie is the correct path to take - there is going to be a wait time for the operation, and she didn't give us a lot of ways to survive that period. It took a different professional to simply give us a correctly sized nipple shield, which was a life saver. Of note here is that Laura did recommend a nipple shield initially, but of different size, but didn't spend enough time diagnosing issues during the visit to realize that it's the wrong size and that's why it wasn't working (instead jumping to the tongue tie). To summarize: The Good - well meaning, can provide a lot of information if you know to ask the right questions. The Bad - didn't spend enough effort fixing the latch, jumped to conclusions. The Ugly - recommends unscientific woo, and is very popular with woo-peddlers around the city. It's to the point that even the dentist, once he knew who recommended us, asked us if we wanted actual medicine or magic water. read more

I am so grateful that someone referred me to Laura! Although, I was unfortunately unable to personally meet with her due to distance, she was able to provide me with the help I needed. My son and I have been struggling with our nursing relationship due to fussing feedings and lower milk supply and I just didn't know what I was doing wrong! My interaction with Laura has been one of the most stressful parenting experiences since becoming pregnant. While she does have a thorough knowledge of her craft, she presents her information using scare tactics and insults toward all of the other medical professionals who have been advising us since our son was born. Laura was unyielding and very unprofessional in pushing her own agenda, rather than striving to build our confidence as new parents. There's a reason Laura works on her own: she can't play nice with other professionals. Unfortunately, after our interaction with Laura, we've heard from other medical professionals that she has a reputation as a bully in her field. I'm writing this review almost 6 months after Laura's initial visit to my home with my newborn. We are 100% breastfeeding with ease now. My baby had a lip/tongue tie and was not transfer milk as much and not gaining weight. Laura was able to pin point the problem and send us to a wonderful dentist to have it corrected. I saw Laura twice in her clinic after the initial visit because my son was resisting the boob after getting breast milk from a bottle for about 2 months. Laura also has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to homeopathic remedies for any baby illness or any illness in general but she is not pushy or judgmental. Laura has been amazing. I got in contact her 2 years ago with my second baby. I was having issues with latching and nipple confusion when my baby was just a week old. In the hospital we had allowed the nurses to give my baby a bottle to supplement a feeding and thereafter she refused me... I found Laura because of the follow-up clinic she does at my chiropractor's office. I was having some trouble with my newborn, who was clicking a whole lot at the breast and just didn't seem to be a very efficient drinker. Laura agreed to see me right away at the clinic, which she usually reserved for follow-up from her home visits, since I was on a tight budget and don't have lactation benefits through my insurance (!madness!). She identified the problem right away--tongue and lip tie--and spent a ton of time with me that day, helping me understand the many implications of the ties; the treatment, and the follow-up. She provided great referrals to specialists who could correct the problem, and stayed in touch with me over the weeks to ensure we were meeting our goals. We ended up needing a home visit, when the little one continued to struggle with weight gain, and again were super impressed with her vast holistic knowledge and skills. Breastfeeding is hard, and sometimes you just need a little help! After a rough first week of nursing our newborn, I had a feeling something was wrong. Extreme pain, long feedings and a baby who never seemed satisfied. I emailed Laura and got an immediate response of when we could meet and helpful links! Two days later she came by our house to observe our nursing and weigh baby to check on how much milk she was receiving. Laura was professional and so kind. Laura was a life saver for us! Our baby was suffering from terrible gas pains and I had such bad pain on my left side when my baby latched I could barely stand it. Laura came to my house and spent a lot of time with us evaluating my baby's latch and measuring to see how much he was transferring. Laura showed me different positions to try when breastfeeding and diagnosed a lip and tongue tie. We had the lip and tongue tie revision and within a week the pain I was feeling was gone and my baby had a lot less gas. Laura also emailed me tons of information on lip and tongue tie and other breastfeeding topics. A week ago I had a terribly painful plugged duct that was not going away no matter what I tried.
