    16. Wonton Soup (no broth, just wontons in water)
    Lisa C.

Wonton soup is water with wontons in it. Not just that there is no flavor, it's literally water.

Not sure what this is, but it's NOT kung pao chicken (which I ordered). Disappointed.

In regards to Chinese delivery options in the area, this is really one of your better options. In terms of Chinese food options in the area, this is just ok. The lo mein is exactly what I want from Chinese takeout. Good noodle texture and flavor, same with the meat. Not too many onions or cabbage or any other vegetables. It hits the spot. Is it the most authentic? Nah, but that's not why I get it. The jiaozi/dumplings are also pretty good. They don't seem more special than the frozen kind you can get. And you only get two options here: steamed or fried. But, again, they're not bad. The kung pao? Well... that's what I ordered but was most certainly not what I got. Kung pao should not have baby corn or mushrooms. And there was no real flavor to this other than that generic Chinese takeout flavor. No heat -- not even a tiny hint of heat. Just because you put peanuts in it doesn't make it kung pao. It was amazingly disappointing. If you want to try the best -- and I mean it, the best -- Chinese food in Muncie? Go to Dumpling House. And if you want to see how kung pao should look, check out my review for that restaurant. Everything I've gotten there has been amazing and just like I remember from the time I lived in Sichuan Province. Anyway, back to China Kitchen. It's not terrible by all means, but there are better options if you're willing to go out for it. Delivery took pretty much as long as was estimated. I wish they didn't have a $15 minimum for delivery, but given your other options if you want food brought to you, well, I hope you like leftovers because you'll be getting a lot of food. UPDATE: 11/12/15 Decided to try the General Tso's Chicken... and I can't recommend it either. It tasted like sweet and sour chicken. There's no heat like you'd expect with General Tso's, even though I even selected for it to be hot & spicy. Also, I found bones in my chicken. I just feel like I'm wasting my money here. It's not terrible, but why settle for subpar especially when you there's a $15 minimum for delivery. I'm just really disappointed with China Kitchen. UPDATE: 3/6/16 Went with the Sesame Chicken and Beef in Mala Sauce (which I'd gotten once more). The sesame chicken just reminds me of the tso's chicken, might even be the same base sauce? But taste like what you'd expect American Chinese sesame chicken to be like. Sweet, but not like sweet & sour sweet. The Beef in Mala Sauce is probably my favorite dish from this restaurant. It's got a little heat, but a good sweet flavor mixed in with it. It's very well balanced. I specifically request no bell peppers and no mushrooms in this dish. Given the delivery minimum, I tend to use lunch time as my very rare "stock up on cheap chinese food" times. I pick 2 combos (entree, fried rice, and a soup each), and then get some steamed dumplings. For $20 I get enough for about 3-4 meals, depending on how hungry I am when it arrives. Again, as far as *delivery* options, this is the better one in town. If I have the time to pick up myself, well, you know where I'd go.

This is the amount of onions to expect in the curry chicken....You really have to dig to find the bits of chicken and carrot.

The food is decent, the fact that they deliver is really cool. But if you're looking to go out to eat Chinese go to Kings or Yummy buffet.

I ordered dinner at 8:30. 10:03 p.m. The lady was rude and hung up on me. I will never go to China Kitchen again

Your standard Chinese takeout. Service is usually pretty fast and the portions are decent sized for those anticipating leftovers.

The first night I tried massaman, which was the closest thing to yellow curry that I saw on the menu. . . well the yellow curry I'm used to. I ordered it with a spice level of 5. It was very flavorful but I asked for additional ground chilies. I also tried the cheese Rangoons and egg rolls. Both were very crispy and small, just the way I liked it. They gave use sweet and sour sauce, peanut sauce, and another dipping sauce for the egg rolls. Not sure what it was. Kinda tasted like a pot sticker sauce. The next day I had Pad Thai. It was good. My friend had the red curry soup both days and had one to go. She also ordered chicken wings and paper wrapped shrimp (not to sure of the name). The owner was very nice to us.

No one in the place at lunch on a Saturday... I should have walked out…read more Not great crab Rangoon. I'm spoiled with Thai Thara's in Richmond, I guess. This just seemed like thick fried dough. Not served with sweet and sour sauce; had some sort of soy sauce that tasted oddly alcoholic. :( Moving on... The Thai iced coffee is good. Only one dude running the place: serving and cooking, it seems. I was able to score some silverware from another table since I wasn't given any. Can't imagine how slow it would be if it was busy. The meal was not fantastic. I think of Thai as light and fresh. This was thick, goopy, and heavy, with no veggies but onions. Was not asked spice level and thus was not given any spice. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish. The space is very dated, but it seems clean. I wanted to like this spot as o love Thai and cannot get it where I live. Alas, this place is certainly not worth the trip. I will not be back.
