Fried rice was pretty good. Not too greasy or salty. Added Bean sprouts as it comes with egg and onion only. Also, tried the Orange Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Beef Broccoli and Crab Rangoon. All were tasty and prepared fresh to order. Out of all, I probably would not order the Orange Chicken again. The breading on the chicken was way too thick and the sauce was too thick and fake tasting. Service was very friendly and the Dining room was very clean, spacious and quiet. I will return. read more

I come in, place a to-go order from the counter, wait for less than 10 minutes and food is ready. I have to be honest, I've only had their Chinese food but people seem to enjoy their pho as well. I love their egg rolls! They use thinner wrappers which makes their egg rolls crispier than others! They are well-filled and very flavorful. I always order an extra egg roll or 2 when I come here. I have tried their lo mein, garlic chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, general tso and their beef with broccoli. I haven't been disappointed with any of them! The food was better than most Chinese food here in Missouri. However, the place was dirty. There were crumbs EVERYWHERE, and it looked like it hadn't had a good cleaning in a very very long time. Walking in the place was not too inviting , maybe we hit them after a rush- there was a table that still hadn't been bussed. My wife and I went to the counter to ordered. The gentlemen spoke in a soft tone and was kind of hard to understand I ordered Kung Pao Chicken mild spice and my wife ordered Lemongrass Chicken. The guy seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else. We sat down to table that didn't seem very clean. By this time I was ready to just get my food and eat it. If you haven't been to China King Crestwood since new management took over in October, you really should give it a try. They use fresh vegetables and the sauce in the entrees is lighter and brothier than typical Chinese food (thick, gloppy sauce). It's a little more expensive than other places, but a great example of you get what you pay for. read more

I've been a long time customer of this restaurant and up until tonight, all of my experiences have been really good. But I ordered the lemon chicken tonight, which says on the menu that it comes with vegetables and is a "must try." But I have to warn you, it's a MUST NOT TRY. It has no vegetables. It's just over done, not good cuts of popcorn chicken, lemon sauce and white rice. It's absolutely awful!! I called the restaurant and they offered a refund, but I paid cash and I really didn't want to drive back there. So I just decided to choke it down and marked it off of my copy of their menu with permanent black marker to make sure I never make the mistake of ordering it again. Ordered takeout from China King on May 14. The phone ordering and pickup went smoothly. The cashier did not have a mask or gloves. the chef was wearing a mask but it was around his neck. My companion's vegetable fried rice was subpar, very dry and with a "starchy" flavor. I can't say if the problem was with the ingredients (rice?) or the cooking method. Next day's leftovers were much improved by adding oil, but the unusual taste/consistency remained. I ordered the Moo Shu shrimp and it was excellent. Very good mixture of vegetables, reasonable amount of shrimp, large portion, and tasty sauce. The dish was served with only three pancakes, whereas the menu I ordered from (could have been outdated) indicated four. Definitely I needed more than three. My companion liked the vegetable eggrolls more than I did. Conclusion? If your favorite dish is fried rice, I would suggest a different restaurant. Otherwise, China King is worth a try. read more

My husband and I were out and about today, and I was feeling really sick and faint. I simply had to eat. We were on Watson road, saw the sign for China King, and quickly turned into the strip mall. Inside I was dazzled by the rather large fish tank sitting on the counter, and very quickly a sweet young lady came up and took our order. She gave us our cups and I got my soda. When I turned around I noticed the gorgeous jade looking tables [see photos], and sat down to wait for the food. We each got a large order of chicken fried rice and a drink, and the food was just under $15. As we waited, I noticed that there were all sorts of things for sale along the long right wall by the counter: lucky bamboo, figurines and what not. It was very cool and very funny. Our food came out about ten minutes later, and the nice lady who took our order politely set our food out for us and was all smiles. We got a ton of food for our money, and I tucked into it eagerly. I think that this is my favorite place to get chicken fried rice because the pieces of chicken are very small so that the eating of the rice is more natural. allowing a little of all the ingredients to be incorporated into each mouthful. The onions are nice and crisp with a sweet taste, and there is the cubed carrot and the peas in there as well. To me, this was the perfect chicken fried rice. I can't wait to go back and try their strawberry chicken, which I only noticed after I had placed my order due to my faint feeling. I'm happy to say that the food perked me right up so that I was able to go and have fun! read more

My wife, Sister-In-Law and I just finished a take-out order from China King and it was hands-down the worst Asian meal any of us had ever eaten. I ordered a General Tso chicken with shrimp meal. General Tso has always been one of my favorite dishes, but this bore no resemblance to anything I've ever had. (Wal Mart's version is WAY better.) The chicken wasn't even breaded, but was pieces of some "mystery" meat that had no flavor. Shrimp was a fair size, but again flavorless. Twice as much tasteless vegetables as meat. 90% went in the garbage. Ordered a side of crab rangoon. Crab stuffing was dried paste with no resemblance to crab. My wife ordered a teriyaki chicken dish, but couldn't eat very much of it either. Best part was the ridiculous price of $42! I would highly discourage anyone from wasting their money here. (As I'm posting this "warning", I'm actually starting to get a bit of an upset stomach, so maybe this whole experience isn't over yet!) read more

Their staples are yummy: Orange chicken, fried rice, lo mein...etc. Ordered take out for lunch today and had the Hunan Beef with black bean sauce and Strawberry chicken. The lunches are $4.75 each and tons of food! They come with white or pork fried rice and an egg roll or soup. The Strawberry chicken was pretty good, but I would totally order Orange, Sesame, or Sweet and Sour chicken over it. The Hunan Beef with black beans, on the other hand, was no good. Chewy, icky beef and the sauce...gross. Just, eat here, but do not be adventurous like me and order this. But, I chose the Hot and Sour soup, and this was awesome! Crab rangoon is always a sure thing and quite delicious, especially if you like it on the sweeter side. Stick with the basics, and this is a great little place for Chinese Food. read more

This is a decent carry out place that my office uses pretty regularly for work lunches. The prices are inexpensive with the lunch specials being an especially good deal. The portion sizes are generous: 8 pieces of crab rangoon in an order, a full cup of hot & sour soup as a lunch side, etc. They always remember spicy mustard packets for me, too! I don't know where the love is for spicy mustard, but you only get them now if requested at most places. Delivery is quick, always right about the time they estimate. The food itself is fairly average Chinese delivery. The filling of the crab rangoon is a little sweet for me- not tender crab sweet, but leaning towards cheesecake sweet. They have several flavors of egg roll that are tasty, if over-fried a bit like egg rolls sometimes can be. Yummy steamed dumplings. For my meal, I order spicy entrees like kung pao beef and spicy chicken. They are different every time time I get them, so not great consistency. Some of my coworkers take understandable issue when an unexpected veggie or spice shows up in a dish where it typically is not used. To top the meal off, the brand of fortune cookies they use is delicious- sweet, crispy, and airy. I usually can't even eat a fortune cookie, but I like to polish off a couple of these! read more

Prices are standard, deliveries reliably prompt, food is always piping even after being delivered, packed to the brim, plenty of condiments, pleasant and understandable on the phone... they check all the boxes in what you expect from your friendly neighborhood chinese joint. After 50+ orders from here I think we've only had a missing item or messed up order once. And I'm talking like maybe they forgot the dipping sauce for the dumplings, not an entire entree messed up. And the food is good! This is one of the only places I get the hot and sour soup from. Always the right consistency, great flavor, always good amounts of mushrooms, egg, bamboo, etc. If you like hot and sour soup but are afraid to try it because so many other places are a disappointment, fear not at China King. I have around 4 entrees I cycle through, including some of the curries on their thai menu. The curries are good, but my wife's thai fav is pad thai, which she claims is not up to par.
