We were greeted walking in and told to sit where we wanted, so we grabbed a table by a window. Our server came over with menus and made us feel at home. She got our drink orders and returned promptly. She was friendly, kind and professional. We started with some appetizers, their fries pickles, fried mushrooms and the mac and cheese bites. All three were good, The pickles good, the mushrooms and mac n cheese very good. The bites were the best of all three. I went for the fried Chicken with mash and cream gravy, and green beans. The chicken was very good, fried golden brown, tender and juicy inside. A nicely prepared meal. The mash and gravy were also very good. The green beans, old school, like grandma made. This is home style cooking done very well. All in all, a solid choice for a meal. Good food, great service and a fair value. 4.5 Stars rounded up for our great server 01305

There was a long list of specials when you come into the restaurant that aren't all on the menu- so take note. They all sounded good. The hamburgers were hand pattied, tender, and juicy. This is a great stop right on I-55 at Hayti MO.

Not sure if they were running low on proper size plates or if this was typical. Either way, it made it difficult to eat properly. Sandwich was good but wish the pimento cheese would have been warm and the fries a bit crisper. Good food and service overall. We will be back!

Most disrespected I have ever been treated. I ordered a single plate to go and tipped $3, no…read moreissues. I had conversations with the staff and manager while receiving my food, everyone English just fine, nothing out of the ordinary for a regular restaurant experience. The menu online said my order came with 2 tortillas and I got home and had 0. I was not upset, I'm staying nearby, so I explained to the dude over the phone what's going on and I am 100% prepared to pay for these tortillas, I have absolutely no problem with that but as soon as I say they didn't come with the meal I'm told "NO ENGLISH" and hung up on. I call back 4 times, no answer, no I'm a little upset so I call while I make the 3 minute drive to the restaurant and when I get inside it's 1:15pm on a Wednesday and there's maybe a few people in the restaurant but the guy up front is hiding. He comes up and I am not terribly mad at this point but I say hey man, you think it's cool to hang up on me? I'm trying to pay for more tortillas. He is saying something like some excuse but I had him caught pretty bad as being straight up disrespectful so he goes to get the manager which I'm thinking is a good thing, I'm happy....I told him, your dude hung up on me, I'm trying to buy tortillas that your menu said came with the meal, so now he's focused on how this is my fault because I used an old menu a.k.a. the one that pops up on when you hit menu on Google lol but again I don't care about paying the $2 for tortillas I'm mad bc I was being polite and this ass hole hung up on me and dodged 7 of my calls. I'm assuming the manager is going to come up and deescalate this like every other restaurant manager in the world but no he's telling me that they're too busy to answer the phone and that it's my fault for using the wrong menu....now I am pissed but time and I tell them again hey I don't care about the money I just want 3 tortillas but you don't think it's messed up your dude hung up on me, and avoided my calls? Again he's getting upset with me and while I'm not super nice at this point, I'm not at all out of line but then I did mess up and boy he was waiting for me to mess up and he got me, I think I said "no dude I'm mad because I had to drive all the I'ma way back over here and order when y'all should've taken the order over the phone and it would've been ready!" Man he was ready for that cus word like he planned it he looked at me and said hey don't talk like that....do y'all know what I did? Immediately apologized, immediately changed my tone and my posture bc it was wrong of me to cuss, he didn't like that though so he said "if you're going to be that way get out we won't serve you!!" I probably said "are you serious" as I turned to walk out bc if he says I can't be there than by law I can't and that's just what it is and then as I'm leaving "you're lucky I don't call the police and have you arrested!!! I literally had 2 feet out the door with my back turned so I turned my neck half way around and said "arrested for what man I'm gone." And that is the most accurate version of the story you will receive but I legitimately felt discriminated against because I was treated like crap beginning to end. I had to delete another 500 words bc apparently it was too long.... Never had to do that before. Had the manager just said "I'm sorry man it's been a long day let me get you their tortillas it will be $1.95" I would have said "no man I understand thank you" and left another tip and came back to the restaurant 50 times while I'm in town lol.... But I got nothing except rude and I genuinely feel sorry for whoever owns this place bc the amount of business lost over someone's ego must be crazy....I was wondering why there's no one there at lunch time for the only Mexican Restaurant in town but I guess this was my answer.

Hidden gem alert. I…read morewas headed to Bham from St Louis and someone told me this place was famous for its legendary pork steak. Naturally, I drove a good bit out of my way to investigate this pork steak for myself. It is in fact legendary and you should go here for yourself if you're ever within range of this place. To start, it's in a very small town and the vibes are as down-home as it gets. It's got a solid menu of recognizable bbq options and plenty of seating to accommodate your group. It's clean and the people are as friendly as could be. Service was quick, prices were beyond reasonable. Now on to this pork steak. I, myself do not have a lot of experience with pork steaks so I'll do my best to describe what I had. It looks like a steak. It weights 2lbs. It's on the bone and fork-tender. The fat is rendered perfectly and when you go at this thing with a fork and knife, it basically falls apart into what you'd normally find on a pulled pork sandwich. It was smoked beautifully, it was flavorful and delicious. I'm never going to forget it. I understand why they're famous for it. Just amazing. The au gratin potatoes were excellent as well and I'd definitely order this plate and everything on it again. Long story short this is an out of the way, hole in the wall kind of place in a small town. If you're passing by on the nearest interstate, it's worth it to plan a little excursion to it just to take in the deliciousness that they're providing. 5 stars all around.
