Update 02/04/22 Stopped in tonight for dinner ordered our usual dinner and when the lady gave me the total it was different from what I use to pay. I looked at the menu and all of the prices have gone up, so if you have a menu at home done go by the prices listed add at least a dollar to each meal. Best place in Calvert County for Asian fast food. Love the shrimp fried rice, king pao chicken and their soups ate very good. They get a bad rap as they're in a gas station liguor store. Egg rolls are house maid. The Singapore Noodle's and the Kung Pao Chicken are our favorites. read more

This place is consistently good. One thing I REALLY like besides the food, and this might seem minor but it's NOT...they put all of your food in a courtesy box if you have a lot . I hate places that stack your damn carry out food in a plastic bag. You are left trying to hold it while driving so your stuff doesn't spill out all over the car. If in a courtesy cardboard box, I just set it on the floorboard in the back and it's good to go. Also they are recycling. I don't think that it can get more "hole-in-the-wall"esque as China King has positioned itself in a gas station/liquor store combo that you'll pass in a blink off of route 4. Don't blink though as China King has some of the best Chinese takeout in Calvert County. Always fresh and always delicious, I've never been let down. Our go-to is the Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken and broccoli, and some of their beautifully steamed dumplings. Overall - SOLID. If you're in Calvert County, stop by and experience it! read more

I will not go back there. First of all they are rude. I was still in the middle of a sentence when the woman hung up on me. I ordered 2 orders of SPRING ROLLS. When I went to pick them up they were very impersonal. To top it off it was over $6 for 4 spring rolls. They were greasy and LOADED with shrimp. It's not advertised with shrimp. Decided to give China King a try after reading the reviews and I am so happy we did. This is hands down the best Chinese take out not only in the county but that I've had anywhere in a very long time. We ordered a couple of things to see what was good. The sesame chicken was very good, great flavor and no gristle pieces like you can sometimes get. The hunan was spicy but again very flavorful. The shrimp fried rice, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and dumplings all good as well. The lady who took our order was very nice. This will be my new go to for Chinese takeout. If you're having second thoughts about ordering from a dilapidated Chinese food establishment connected to a gas station, I would highly suggest just going somewhere else. We called in an order for pick up after perusing their website. We ordered General Tso's chicken and a curry beef. The associate who answered the phone was curt to the point of rude. We called around 7 PM and it just seemed that he couldn't wait to get me off the phone. When we arrived and entered the store, I immediately formed assumptions about how bad the food was going to be. They keep boxes at the front of the store to use for takeouts, similar to how you would if you were in Sam's Club or Costco. I don't know if this place has been inspected by the health department or not, but that giant pile of cardboard is a theme park for insects and bugs. What little the cardboard pile didn't cover was dingy and grimy. We drove home and my assumptions were confirmed. The curry beef was lacking in flavor. It seemed that half the dish was just onions. The few "beef" parts didn't taste or feel like beef at all. It was gummy and tasted off. The steamed rice was cooked just enough to be edible. I'm giving 2 stars instead of just 1 because the General Tso's chicken at least tasted and felt just like any other General Tso's chicken. read more

Wife was wanting Chinese food and found China King, when hearing the reviews I had my doubts because it is a hole in the wall place which if you don't look twice you'll miss it. It's not your box store sit down brightly light up store it's call in and take out. We went in and ordered and was told it would be 10-15 minutes. During that time a saw a parade of customers coming in and getting their orders and watched the staff working on and preparing each order No prepared food. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to trying lunch. Have to say, I was disappointed. I know people have bad days, but the young man behind the counter was just plain rude. I placed an order to go from the counter, so I had a little while to pay attention. He was rude to me, slammed the paper down to sign, slammed the pen down for me to use and didn't really speak to me in complete sentences, just one word commands. No, he doesn't have a communication barrier, he was young and spoke English just fine. Same thing for the orders he took on the phone, just abrasive and each time, he failed to thank the caller for their order and I don't think he ever said good bye, just slammed the phone down with a bang. I'm not exaggerating, actually made a BANG each time he put it down. All in all I just don't think he wanted to be there. The food was good, not great, but I'm afraid my experience in the store may have tainted my opinion. I ordered General Tso's Chicken. The lunch portion was good, but I was surprised that a Chinese combo didn't include an egg roll or crab Rangoon? The sauce was tasty. The fried rice was unremarkable, but not bad.
