After a day of pizza and beer in NYC, I had a hankering for some bone-warming fast Chinese, and this place mostly hit the spot. First the good: This little joint is located in a strip mall and is clean with plenty of private parking. The dude that took my order over the phone, as well as the guy at the counter, were both very polite and professional. My order was correct. The beef & snow peas here are wonderful, with tender meat and crisp tender veggies. It's mild, which is good for the non-spicy eaters, but it's nothing that a little hot chile oil didn't fix. The (fake) fried scallops from the appetizer menu were also nice. Obviously, with such a low price point, you aren't getting actual mollusk. But they had just enough seafood flavor and are great for dipping or even adding to something else. The not-so-good: I get hot & sour soup everywhere I go, and this was neither hot nor sour. I tried to jazz it up with chile oil and some soy sauce to no avail. On a positive note, it's chock full of thinly sliced vegetables and cubed tofu. Further, it was extremely thick, as if someone accidentally added way too much cornstarch. Either way, it was not my jam. I also ordered lobster fried rice thinking that I would get fake (but not bad) lobster, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they actually use langoustine, which is a small lobster. This is the same lobster that Long John Silver's uses in its Lobster Bites. But the rice was a total fail. It was gummy, separated and without flavor. Bottom line: If I lived here, this would likely be my go-to Chinese takeout joint. Despite a couple of disappointments on my visit, it's obvious that these folks try really hard to please their customers. read more

This is a negative review of both the restaurant and the Yelp/ Grub hub online ordering platform. I tried this restaurant for the first time and ordered through the Yelp app. After placing my order, and seeing an estimated pick-up time window between 15-25 minutes from my order time, I drove to the restaurant, about a 10 minutes drive from my house. I didn't expect my order to be ready when I got there that soon, but I confirmed they had received my order when I arrived at 6:55pm. I was told it would be a "few more minutes." As I waited, the clerk kept asking me my phone number as new orders were being readied for pick up. None of these were mine. While I was sitting there waiting, I received a notification from Yelp/ grub hub on my phone that my order was ready at 7:09. Still, I waited for my order to be called. Finally, at 7:23 I was told my order was ready. Why did it take so long? Why did Yelp notify me that my order was ready 14 minutes before it actually was. No explanation from the restaurant. A small apology for the wait and an offer to take a "can of soda" on the house. No thanks. I won't be back. read more

Ordered and paid online tonight--very simple order for 1 person. Got an email confirming the order and my food would be ready for pick-up at 6:46pm. Long story short, I didn't walk out of there until 8:18pm. A lot of very unhappy customers in this place tonight! No explanation given as to why the wait--if I didn't already pay for it, I would have just left a long time before I actually did! Just your typical Chinese fast food joint. I don't love Chinese food so i cannot possibly be a good judge of quality here but the wonton soup and fried rice i had was good. My wife ordered a chicken platter and she said it was good. Food arrived hot and in about 25-30 min as expected, really no complaints. I would order from here again read more

Not sure if this is under new or newer management. Well I ordered house special fried rice. Seriously, where is the beef? I mean it was fried rice for sure but very little in terms of scrimp, pork or chicken. Very very little. A small Chicken and Broccoli, well really small. All for $18. I will be going elsewhere even though it is super close to my house. read more

Ordered from here this evening. My partner enjoyed his dish, General's Chicken, but my dish, chicken with mixed vegetables, was very disappointing. The chicken had a weird spongy texture (processed?) I am literally one of the queen check-in's for yelp at this restaurant. I have been going here for years just to get my shrimp egg foo yong and spring roll fixes. But I was very disappointed when I ventured out and ordered beef and broccoli and some other dishes. I forgot to take photos but the meet was fake. Happy to say, I'm still pleased with China King - ordered delivery again tonight & it's been a long while... I've done much more pick up though because it was simply convenient. No issues at all on phone placing my order, was the price quoted when delivery arrived & they were 5 min before the time they stated - plus, it doesn't help I'm at my grandparents hard to locate address! Seriously, thank you for the continued great service & consistent food. I think anyone who lives in Bergen County knows when Chinese take out is a 'miss' - you likely just wasted at least $30 bucks! read more

Consistently excellent food. No matter what you get you will not be disappointed. A little annoying that they don't deliver and it's cash only but there is an ATM right next door so it's no big deal. Middle of the road option for Chinese food in the Hawthorne area: not the best I've had, but also not the worst. Prices are decent, and credit cards ARE accepted now. The pork with mixed Chinese vegetables was very good - the pork was cut into wide, thin swaths (about as thick as the pork strips you find in a bowl of wonton soup), but the chicken with broccoli was in an overly sweet, almost gloopy sauce. Just got take out from here tonight and the food can be described only as awful. Chicken is rubbery! I got orange chicken and it was so gross I had to throw it out. They take credit cards AND deliver now. Chicken chow mien was excellent, as was the chicken and broccoli, with big slices of chicken. I asked for sauce on the side of the shrimp with Chinese veggies, and it was not in my order. I called and they were extremely apologetic, and delivered the sauce within a few minutes. Good news is the new owners accept credit cards! They are friendly and the food is fresh and tasty. Lunch specials are the best bargain. Food portions are generous. My teenager's favorite Chinese take out restaurant in town! Definitely worth going here if you're craving Chinese food. read more
