Found on a long road trip when stopping for gas. Walked in at 8:15pm on a Tuesday evening and nearly cried upon seeing a fully stocked hot buffet. 10 hours into a 36 hour drive stumbling upon a magical Midwest buffet felt like a dream. Went nuts and tried a little of everything. The two ladies working were very kind and attentive, offered to refill any of the dishes if needed. No No No. we had lunch there today. It was one of the worst Chinese meals ever. Food was lukewarm at best. Spring rolls were terrible, crab Rangoon was simply okay. Mongolian beef should have been called Mongolian onions... there was little to no beef. Chicken dish was chicken jerky. Egg rolls were very disappointing. We tried multiple items off their buffet and nothing stood out. They did have plenty of flies in the restaurant . We will never return. read more

China Inn is hands down is my favorite local Chinese restaurant in the quad cities. When you enter you are greeted promptly and feel very welcomed. There's also a buffet that's coming soon too. Since my first visit I've gone there twice now. I have the generals Tsos combo plate each time and added cream cheese wontons too. The fried rice doesn't have egg here too which is big because I'm not an egg fan. You can always add egg to it if you want but I'd say it's definitely amazing as is. The combo plate comes with chicken fried rice which is delicious. On my second visit I got shrimp fried rice which was an amazing too and I felt there was a lot of shrimp which made me happy. The general Tso's chicken is flavorful and well balanced but I like it a little more spicy so I get it extra spicy. Each time I've ordered via phone and had no issues the order was repeated back and I was given accurate ETAs for pickup. I definitely will be frequenting here and recommend them. read more

Typical Chinese buffet. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Quick refills on drinks and steam table food. Bourbon chicken was overcooked. Nice to see sushi. Eggrolls were bland. Crab Rangoons were overly sweetened. Mongolian Beef was good as was the egg fu young . We tried little bits of this and that. There was fresh fruit and cherry jello. Pretty standard Chinese buffet with pretty standard flavors. Nothing stood out as really great, and nothing stood out as really poor. I would rate this as so so as far as the food goes. read more

Relative to the price we paid, 13.99 for dinner on a Thurs, the food was pretty decent. Drinks were refilled and empty plates were collected promptly. The buffet contained all the standard choices you'd expect plus a few sushi items. It's noteworthy that there were at least 4 beef dishes being served, which is better than comparable chinese buffets that offer chicken-everything. I would return for the food, but the ambience of this establishment is a bit rough, and that extends to the clientele they attract. Several of the other diners that were there during our visit did not appear to have a level of personal hygiene appropriate for buffet dining. I think I noticed a sign near the front saying they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, so perhaps they should exercise that discretion a bit more. read more

I felt compelled to write a review after China Inn went 2/2. I've tried almost all of the Chinese places in the QC and there are two that stand out. Shanghai and China Inn. I would suggest getting the egg drop soup and generals chicken. If you are ordering the generals, get it spicy. It has the perfect amount of kick and the spice level isn't off putting. It's also reasonably priced. My friends and I all order from here.all the time. If they addressed their mediocre crab rangoon, they would be best in QC. read more

Always wonderful food!! Hard to find a restaurant with excellent spices and flavors, but here is where you find it!

I recently moved to Moline, Illinois and had not been to the store as of yet. I decided to order from China Inn as its close to where I live and I love great Chinese food so decided to give it a shot. I placed my rather large order, yes, I like variety when I eat. I ordered the following appetizers: teriyaki chicken, crab Rangoon, boneless spare ribs as well as the main dish chicken mei fun. I did this all online and got a message that it would be ready in 20 minutes. Perfect! That would give me time to throw on my shoes and coat and find my way to their restaurant. Imagine my surprise when they called me 10 minutes later and said it was ready!! The young lady that called verified where their restaurant was which was great. Being new to the area (one day) it gave me local landmarks. I hurriedly left and plugged in their address to my GPS and headed out. Once there I walked in to a very clean, warm establishment. It naturally was decorated with decor native to China but also had Christmas decorations up. Per usual, the family had their children with them and they were sitting in a booth working on what appeared to be homework. One of what I presume was a daughter waited on me and she was EXTREMELY polite and created me with a big smile. After verifying that she had the correct order, she told me the total. I was embarrassed that all I had in me were $100 bills but the young lady did not falter. She told me what my change would and carefully counted it out of the till. She then counted it back to me!! Now, many years ago when I was a waitress and would give back change, this was the normal way of handling cash. Unfortunately, you do not see this very often so I was quite pleased when she did it without hesitation and was absolutely correct!! I gave her a tip and left with my piping hot bag of food that smelled delicious. Once home, I naturally tried a little of everything and it was ALL MARVELOUS!! The flavors, the spices, everything was wonderful and yes, I know I ate more than I normally would. I thought I would have plenty of leftovers for several meals as I attempted to unpack my many moving boxes but found myself stopping for a quite bite of my Chinese leftovers. Whether it was cold or heated up in the microwave, it retained its flavor and inviting aroma. I cannot wait to go back and try more from their VERY LARGE selection. If you are ever in Moline and want authentic, Chinese food, get off the main strip and go to China In. On Avenue of the Cities and have yourself an EXTREMELY wonderful and tasty meal. We just had lunch there because we heard they just opened a buffet that also has sushi. They were packed! But we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated and received our drinks. They had plenty of staff working (some running!) to keep everyone attended to. We had the buffet and could not have been more pleased! We sampled a little of a lot of the food. Everything was hot and fresh and very tasty. The sushi was delicious! The gentleman making the sushi was very friendly and helpful answering customers questions about the sushi. We will definitely be going back for more sushi! This was our first time dining there so don't know if they had expanded the dining room or not. If they keep up the wonderful food and excellent staff they may have to expand more! read more

Easter Sunday and still open! Very good! all the standbys and more. the dumplings were hand made and good quality! I had the MuShu Pork and it was so good! I think they do a lot of carry out. we wanted to sit down and we really enjoyed it. the service was in ceramic boat like dishes. plates were pretty even tho plastic. The staff is so nice. we had questions about the chicken and breading and the owner brought a cook out to answer our questions in English. most of the dishes do not have breading on the chicken. very healthy and we all really enjoyed it. we will go back. free tea! read more

The food tasted of stale/burnt oil. Quite disappointing! Portion size was decent though. Unfortunately, most of it was wasted!

Ordered crab Rangoon, wonton soup, sweet and sour chicken, chicken fried rice, and a shrimp and chicken egg roll. I ate mostly chicken fried rice (my favorite...not anymore) and ended up spending my night in the restroom with diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and a fever over 100°F. My boyfriend ate everything except the chicken fried rice and is totally fine. We have ordered from China Inn previously and we've both been fine. However, I think we will order from elsewhere from now on. read more

What a disappointment! Used to be very good, not anymore. Forget about dining in, the tables aren't set up & is mainly used for their young child's play room. But what I did not like was the little girl about the age of 3 running around and dancing and singing at our table, looks like she lives here or is here all the time! This place doesn't appear to be much from the outside, but don't let that fool you! The inside is extremely clean and well kept! Employees are friendly and always working hard. My girlfriend and I were swinging by to get some dinner and we saw that the business hours closed at 10 and it was 10:20. I started to back up and the employees inside were waving at us to come in! These days that is very hard to find as most restaurants shun people away a half hour before closing.. Not here! Food is always fresh and good quality, the chicken and broccoli is my favorite. Very impressed! My fiance and I ordered takeout while petsitting for my sister's dog. I've never heard of it since I'm not from Moline, but I'm very pleased!
