Ordered the Mongolian beef. Way over cooked, dry and no sauce. Been eating there for years and this is the worst I've ever got from them.

It is the worst General Tso's chicken my husband and I have ever had! A bunch of uniform size chicken nuggets that had been cooked ahead of time and were not very hot with a very not tasty sauce poured over them. It was not even mixed together. Many of the chicken nuggets were still dry, and you had to mix it yourself. The rice was scooped out into the container and was stiff and couldn't even pick it up with a fork without a huge clump coming out of time. The crab meat Rangoon's were super chewy and had not been freshly cooked they also were half cold. It is not like we ordered it ahead and had it sitting there waiting for us to pick it up. We wondered why it was so quick after we ordered it that we got our order. It literally took two minutes. This is absolutely the number one worst Chinese food in the Quad cities! Yen Ching's was always my favorite chinese restaurant. When I first had their cuisine they were located down by SouthPark and on Brady Street in Davenport. They had the best sizzling rice soup! We would always order Dinner for Two (Mongolian Beef & Garlic Chicken) However, I fell in love w/Yen Ching Beef, so we would have them substitute that dish in place of the Garlic Chicken! The crab ragoons were also way better than anywhere else. But you did have to order their own sweet & sour sauce for like a $2 fee (which was the bright red) as opposed to the sweet & sour they gave you in the packets (which was yellowish orange) and tasted awful. The service was always top notch. And they got to know us & what our usual order was. Special instructions and all! I drink a very specific vodka & order it a certain way. They would see me & already be preparing my drink w/out my having to order it. Which was nice if the person I'm having dinner with doesn't need to know I'm drinking. Just a very classy, and cool thing to do. Special instructions and all. It really made us feel like V.I.P's. Imagine how excited I was when we moved to the Milwaukee area. And as my fiancee's and I were carpooling together for our new jobs (Best Buy for him & Wisconsin Color Press for me) We were heading down Good Hope Road....and we see a Yen Ching chinese restaurant sign on the right hand side of the road. I scream...OMG...pull in here! I run in and speak w/the owner while checking their menu. I ask if they are affiliated with the Yen Ching restaurants in DeKalb, Moline, & Davenport? She replies..."Yes, Moline & Davenport are my older sister's restaurants. DeKalb is my younger sister's...it's a college campus popular hangout. I'm helping her get in to the swing of things while she finishes up the rest of her classes. And yes....the menu & family recipe's are all the same! I was ecstatic! Our weekly visits, to what we considered the best chinese food ever, could continue. We were only in Wisconsin a year, then back to Bettendorf for 2 years, then we moved to the Chicagoland suburbs & settled in Naperville. Very posh, very yuppy and very upscale. One day we're out shopping and driving around getting to know our new area. And to our surprise, about 25 minutes from our subdivision, we spot a Yen Ching's chinese restaurant! We decide to have a late lunch here regardless of whether or not it is "Our Yen Ching's". Of course, after being seated we begin to recognize the ambiance, the menu, even some of the people working there. Yen Ching's was never one of the chinese food places that delivered your order to your house approximately 7 minutes after you ordering it. So, it wasn't the quickest or the easiest to have....but it was so nice to have our comfort chinese food (something we know & love) in all the new places we moved. We had lost so many of our favorite places...Frank's Pizza, Ross' Magic Mountains, Adolph's Tacos, Rudy's Taco's, Happy Joe's BLT/Taco pizza, Brueger's Bagels....they would all be so missed. But hey, we did have our weekly Dinner for Two date nights at Yen Ching's! read more

the last time I was there there were worms in our fried rice. They refunded my meal but not my boyfriends and kids meal. He told me he buys his rice in bulk and he has no choice but to use the rice. Never again. 0 stars.i could get better food in the frozen section of a grocery store. read more

Food was cheap and fast, but unfortunately not very good... Fried rice was like slime and the sesame chicken tasted like vinegar. The beef lol mein was basically bare noodles with undercooked vegetables. I think I'll stick with China Inn. read more

Don't be fooled by the run down exterior. The food is on point. For $8.50 with a 20oz drink you can't go wrong! Good for a quick in and out or dine in. Owners work with their staff, but don't seem to speak much English I guess. Overall, it is your typical Chinese food joint. Definitely worth giving a try. As for the other "bad" reviews... They've gotten my order right every time. read more

The chicken fried rice with no vegetables is to die for. It's a tad expensive but not too bad. The place is super run down and looks disgusting. I am not sure how they are allowed to stay open. The staff there is completely disrespectful, especially the owners. I recommend going through the drive thru rather than dining in to spare you the nastiness of the inside. read more

We have gotten food there many, many times over the years and were slways satisfied. However, the last 2 times they have given us the wrong food, even after repeating the order back to us. Also, there was always an egg roll with each meal befire, but now it is an extra charge, and you have to ask for them. Very skimpy on the sauces as well, you have to ask for extra. Haven't eaten here since I was a teen. Grew up near Yen Ching. Always been my favorite. Now I work close by and can enjoy it again. The outside isn't much to look at. But you get your food quick and it is always good. Today I had the best General Chicken I have ever had. The chicken was very tender and juicy. Also I think they have some of the best crab rangoon in the quad cities. Delicious and will enjoy again soon! read more

I went through the drive thru, and was very disappointed when I got home. I ordered the sesame chicken, with a side order of crab rangoon. The crab rangoon was hard and chewy- nearly inedible. Upon opening the bag, I noticed that my food had leaked all over the bag and the bottom of the container. After cleaning up the mess, I got to the rest of the food. The chicken was decent- crispy with lots of sauce. The rice was bland and sticky, like it had been sitting for a while. The egg roll was nothing special. Overall, for the price, not bad. But I will probably not be eating here again. read more

Do Not Eat Here! I've dined here with the fam, and the whole fam had stomache. The servers are okay, but the owners, esp the man owner showed an extremely unprofessional and almost bizzare behavior. He was yelling very loudly on the phone, and it made the situation very awkward. This was by far, the worst dining experience we've had to date. Please trust me on that. This was recommended by the desk clerk at our hotel, and it worked out well for us as our General Tsao'swas quite good. No frills here, though, with plastic spoons and forks and Styrofoam plates. if you are looking for a nice night out...maybe pass it up for something else. I really don't understand the appeal of this place. The food is standing out on trays for who knows how long. Everything tastes like heated up frozen save a lot Chinese. Everything's served in Styrofoam containers exclusively and the only saving grace is the soy sauce at the take which will need to be poured copiously. I get the feeling that between good handling and sitting I've heat lamps all day this is a food safety nightmare in the making. I can't imagine a surprise health department visit would go well for this place. I would much rather go to the 888 next door then get near this place again. read more

By all means this place is nothing fancy. It's not exquisite and you probably don't want to know what goes on in the kitchen. But you can't beat the price and the food is pretty good. My family and I have come here for years and the owners, Alan and Chen Li, as well as the cook, Kenny, are like family. read more

The crab rangoon was old and hard, the girl replaced with lukewarm minus the one I had bit into. The rice was crunchy and dry also. The flavor would be ok if it were not for serving old food. The place is very dirty. The health department must not exist in East Moline. We ate inside at 6:15pm yesterday so they should have had better food to serve. read more

I love this place. Listen- you don't go here for the ambiance. Their dining room is not attractive, but I love their fried rice, crab rangoons and egg rolls. Their prices are really good and everyone there is nice. :) read more

The people taking your order are a little stupid they don't know how to put sauce packets in the bag no matter how many times they are told... should be common sense but sweet and sour and soy sauce in the bag of Chinese food no matter how many times you ask they don't get it! read more

Do not eat here. I've had two ocassions of stomachache right when I get home from Yen Ching Express. I am not a food snob, but as far as I could tell, you could have gone to far better choices in Moline, like the China Wok, Dragon Chef, Dragon Palace...etc. I would skip this restaurant completely. read more

I found an earwig bug in my food. It was chopped in half and I never did find the other half but I didn't go looking for it either. I called the restaurant and was offered a replacement meal or a refund. I will never go back to this place. read more

Absolutely disgusting, I found a piece of hair in my food and when I called and told the manager she insisted that I "bring in the piece of hair" that I found after I pulled It out of my mouth and threw it. She claimed that I was lying and was EXTREMELY rude. Definitely will not be going there again and will never refer to any friends of family. read more

This place used to be good, but the last 3 trips for us were not. The chicken in the garlic chicken was super tough. The hot braised shrimp batter was burnt. Today, the shrimp in the lo mien were so small and limited it was comical. There MAY of been a tablespoon of shrimp with the noodles. The outside of the building is nasty. I hope they step up their game and become decent again. They have some work to do. read more
