Not good. Unless you like cabbage I guess. I ordered chicken sizzling rice soup and garlic chicken. All of it from the soup to to the entree was absolutely filled with nothing but cabbage and a little of what it was sposed to be. I ended up after going thru it all had to throw it away. This is not the pre pandemic Ming Wah. It's been a while since we've eaten here, as we discovered a new favorite (Mr. Fu's Noodle House), but we decided to give the new unimproved Ming Wah a second try. Online ordering was nice. We ordered and scheduled for pick up. I arrive at pick up time, it's not ready. No biggy. While waiting for my pickup order, I see a guy in the kitchen barehanded stuffing Crab Rangoon in a bag. No hairnet. No mask. No food handling gloves. Nothing. Okay. First 2 stars discarded. We ordered General's Chicken and some of the aforementioned Crab Rangoon. The General's sauce was essentially sweet and sour minus the coral sauce color. No spice/heat/nothing. But you sure could taste the oldish fryer oil. Chicken chunks were abysmal with their mushy breading compared to the previous Ming Wah General's (crisp breading/correct sauce/Chinese veggies) with carrots and broccoli. The Crab Rangoon filling was sweet with barely a shred of crab to speak of. The previous MW's was not sweet and was the best I'd ever had. Eh. Minus 2 more stars. When the previous owner (who named the restaurant after her late beloved spouse) moved and some miscellaneous relative had the wherewithal to start the restaurant back up many months later, the name should have been changed so as not to mislead the QC public. Your food is incomparable. Pre pandemic Ming Wah was a favorite to many. This rendition of a much loved local eatery falls so short that it's now on our "No" list. We will hold on to the sweet memories of the dozens of times we frequented Pre P Ming Wah and reallocate our Chinese food monies to the Korean place that added some Chinese to their menu (by popular request when Ming Wah shut completely down). read more

Plenty of parking. Quick service. Food was very fresh. Prices say they went up due to industry pricing BUT Ming Wah is still super cheap and they give you small & large choices, which I appreciate. This place is special - the staff is so friendly and the food is consistently delicious. Favorite Chinese restaurant in the quad cities and now that I've moved to Tennessee, I'm having a hard time finding some place here that is even half as good as Ming Wah. Favorite menu items: Crab Rangoon, sizzling rice soup (AMAZING!), broccoli with chicken, and snow peas with beef. I forgot to add, the warm tea served at the table is literally our favorite. Great soups & egg rolls, but that's about it. Your dishes are mainly chopped onion, celery, & carrots. You have to look closely to see any meat. The deep fried meats are primarily batter. If it wasn't for the soups & egg rolls this place would be a one star. read more

Two stars (partly) for having a menu that describes NOTHING. "Shrimp in lobster sauce" - had to guess about usual preparations. No clue that said dish actually comes with PORK. Restaurant should really include descriptions and photos with menu items. As a person with restrictions, everything was a chance, and it didn't have to be. Would have been 3 or 4 stars otherwise - just normal and average Asian dishes - but if you're going to be just okay in food, you need to be exemplary in service. read more

I'm glad I looked past the tired decor. The bottles of sweet & sour sauce on the table along with the people next to me drowning their food in made me nervous. I enjoyed how fresh everything was. Everyone is so nice and the food is consistently good. The prices have raised over the years but it's been about 25 years since they have been in business so that is bound to happen! Not impressed. One of my coworkers is always talking about how great this place is, so I thought I'd check it out. I ordered sweet and sour pork and pork lo mein. The pork itself was extremely bland, like it had been boiled in plain water until it was totally overcooked, then battered and fried. The lo mein was better. I will try again sometime in the future. Then I'll get some egg rolls and something with chicken. The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff was nice. The service was really quick. Ming Wah prepares your food after you order. I'm just REAL tired of oriental buffets and/or steam trays. The food here is fresh. I like the spicy side best and so usually order the Yu Chiang Pork. As I'm trying to get trim, I order steamed rice. Lunch orders , large or medium will arrive with either hot and sour, won ton or egg drop soup. Their hot and sour is good. This is not haute or cutsey Chinese food; it IS reasonable priced and high quality, family food. BTW - This is a great place to order actual Chinese food. You won't be disappointed. read more

Excellent fresh flavorful Chinese food. We had the garlic beef and the double braised pork. The pork slices had a beautiful ring of color around them. The blend of vegetables in each dish were nicely varied and not too mushy. Would definitely be a regular stop if we lived closer. They have by far the best hot and sour soup I've ever had in my entire life (which comes free if you stop in during lunchtime by the way) and the menu is simple, easy, and all very good. Not a fan. Folks from work go quite often though. I'm new in town and Ming Wah was recommended to me by the same folks who go once a week for lunch. I got General Tso's chicken and every time I've had that dish it's been on the sweet/spicy side. Not super sweet, but definitely some sweetness. The meal I got at Ming Wah was salty and the sauce was brown and tasted like gravy. I won't be back. HyVee Chinese is better. read more

The fried rice is amazing, not overly greasy and I love the General Tso's chicken. No idea how this place is getting poor reviews. I'm giving two stars to be friendly. I've been coming here for years and for some reason the past 4 times I've come, everything I order tastes watered down and ridiculous. Today, I decided not to deal with the watered down flavor so I asked to have something else. This woman proceeds to tell me I should just not order anything because she doesn't know if I will like it. Then she says I have to pay $2 for the food I didn't eat! And full price for the replacement meal... that's the most ridiculous garbage I've ever heard. This is the LAST time I come to Ming. Not only did she make me pay for the watery Kung Pao, but I had to wait 25 minutes for the waitress to relay the message to the manager: at which point everyone at my table was done eating. I never complain, I always tip well, and I feel offended by the service I've received today. read more

First time visiting Ming Wah and we liked it a lot. They brought out hot tea with the waters & the food was good. I really like my empress chicken and she liked her chicken lo mein as well. The egg rolls were so good. Light with great texture and great flavor! Definitely going back soon. read more
