Personally, it's a no from me. They don't do sit downs & if I remember correctly there to go orders have to be done on Woosh. Either way, we got our food.. normal Chinese food ordering a for us. Lo Mein, House Fried Rice, General TSO, Pepper Chicken, Sesame Chicken & Egg Rolls. The egg rolls were about the only thing decent to eat. Everything else just had a weird taste. If you have leftovers, know that the food reheats well. Portions are substantial so come hungry. Was impressed too with the efficiency of the staff. This is your basic Chinese food place with all of the staples. It's not the only one in Wooster, thankfully, as I like Asian Wok more than this. I usually just go for the veggies with chicken and rice. Flavors here were a bit unusual for my regular dish. The layout they have for Covid is rather excessive and cumbersome, not to mention poorly cleaned and upkept. Their hand sanitizer was something otherworldly. Prices are the usual that you'd expect. Service is fairly quick - you can usually call in an order and get it in 15 minutes. They're not especially friendly, but I suppose that's par for the course. Tons of options on the menu. Not sure if I'll find my way back in here someday, but if so I'll try something different to see if my experience was a one-off. read more

We like the food here but they can be so rude! We called to order carry out and asked how much it is to substitute white rice for fried rice on a dish that comes with rice. They said $3.50 and we said never mind, thanks anyway and decided to order from somewhere else. This price doesn't even make sense since the difference between a side of white and fried rice is around $2.50. They called us back and said "Did you just call? What's the rest of your order?" Standard issue Chinese take-out. I'd give this a small advantage because it's not swimming in grease. All of the favorites are represented on the menu. There's plenty of variety, and everything comes to you piping hot. The service is really good here, and I've been welcomed promptly every time I've visited. Everything is just really standard. Beyond rude! Ordered lunch combo and was charged for dinner combo. I pointed out the error and the young man proceeded to take my credit card as I believed he was correcting the error. Instead he swiped the card and told me I said dinner combo and I was wrong. This was during lunch time. He then yelled at the man and woman manager when they came to assist. Pretty bad vs the good Chinese places in bigger cities but okay for Wooster. I got the mongolian beef...the beef was too soft, like it had been sitting in water. Mongolian beef should be pan fried and have a good texture, the texture of this seemed old. The flavor was okay, could use some extra spice. There were way more onions than beef. Came with the typical yellow pork fried rice, nothing special. Eggroll was greasy and big, tasted fresh. Wife got the sesame chicken. Sauce was more like a weak general tso's instead of sesame, lacked any sweetness. Chicken was nice and crispy, they did do that part right. They only serve drinks by the can here and they have a pitcher for water in the same cooler. If you dine in, you go to the counter, order and pay, and then wait for your meal. This is pretty much your typical take out Chinese restaurant with some inside seating. Nicer building and decor than most, and the food was better than most. Food is ordered at the counter of a placement style menu, that looks like the same menu used at Los of Chinese restaurants. There are five tables for four, and one round table with five chairs. I'm guessing 90% of their business is take out, as entire time there I was the only one eating in, but saw 10 or so pick up orders. The food was typical of Chinese take out, but a little better team most. Eating in, it was served on nice non disposable plates and well presented. All drinks were either bottled or canned except coffee. They don't appear to have an ice maker. I just wanted ice water and was told the was a pitcher of cold water on the bottom shelf of the boiled water cooler, and foam cups by the coffee maker. Nothing fancy, but overall a better than average Chinese counter service restaurant. read more

I've had China Garden as both take-out and dine-in and both times its been the solid Americanized Chinese food you'd expect. Not that I'm complaining - I love me some sugary, saucy General Tso's as much as the next guy. Order at the counter and the food is brought out to you, which is nice, and it was pretty quick too. Last time I was there my party got a variety of dishes, but my favorite was the Szechuan Shrimp. They weren't skimping on the shrimp and there was a good mix of veggies. Have been a customer for many years and, except for once finding a stone in the hot-and-sour soup a few years ago, have been satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food, as standard Chinese food goes. But just now took home an order we had to throw out it was so uncharacteristically bad. The wantons in the soup were undercooked and plastic-like in flavor while the meat inside was almost burnt. The chicken in the fried rice was slimy with a weird artificial look, taste and consistency. This is the best Chinese restaurant in all of Wayne county and the cleanest! Food is delicious and priced great. Most people get to go but there are tables inside. If you eat in they will bring it to your table. They are always busy but there is not usually a long wait. They offer free hot tea and water. There are a few beverages you can purchase. With food this good beverages are not a huge concern to me. Vegetable Lo-mein is my usual choice and my husband loves the Pork Egg Foo Young. Definitely delicious! read more

The food is subpar. For Wooster students, the location and price is good. However, the General Tso's is far too sweet, Kung Pao Chicken has celery in it and not much flavor, and the "fried rice" is simply saffron rice. If you order over the phone, the lady asking for your order will most likely hear "General Tso's" and when you tell her that's not what you ordered, she'll probably be defensive. Here's the deal: it is hole in the wall Chinese from the middle of nowhere. Better service and better prices than Wild Ginger (but what isn't?), better preparation and quality than Asian Wok (again...what isn't), and far more clean than Hop Hing (you know the parenthetical drill). It has what you are looking for in an Americanized Chinese restaurant (I mean come on....the other reviewers based their reviews on fried meat drenched in sugary sauce...which is certainly what the majority of people probably order). The Singapore noodles are edible, and the egg fu young is solid. Dumplings are doughy and do not resemble anything made by anyone I have ever known, and the wontons (i.e. wonton soup) are doughy too. I can't blame them though....most people here would not appreciate a handmade dumpling if it hit them on the head. The place is spotlessly clean, and the service is very friendly and efficient. It is a tiny diningroom (and they always have the blinds closed so it is dark); it is clear they anticipated carry out orders as their main income. They don't deliver, which is a bummer, as it is perfect Chinese delivery food (i.e. "I am too tired to even drive my car to a drive-thru window, but I don't want to eat cereal for supper again"). And the prices are fantastic. Singapore noodles and a quart of wonton egg drop soup is around $11 and feeds two for supper with leftovers for two lunches. read more

On holiday for our 25th! Wanted something we could take to hotel after a day in Holmes county..... This was a wonderful surprise. The owners, staff, family were so nice, great people. I wouldn't say it's any better or any worse than Hop Hing, or any other Chinese-American establishment in a small midwestern town. My husband and I are new to the area and this place is not too far of a walk, so we thought we'd check it out (plus, with a baby on the way, it's always a good idea to know where the closest Chinese place is!). I'm a little bit torn on the place, and here's why: Honestly, the food wasn't very exceptional. My egg roll was decent (though it had a different taste from a typical egg roll), and I liked their pot stickers, but my General Tso's chicken was maaaaybe a two. It almost tasted like food court General Tso's that had been left in a buffet tray for a while. My husband had the Spice Mala(sp?) Chicken, which he rated about a 3. We also had crab rangoons, which had nice filling, but not much of it. Over all, we were not at all impressed with the quality of the entrees. However, the staff was very friendly, the prices were dirt cheap (we got two entrees, and three appetizers for $30), and the food came out very quickly. Overall, I'd give it a three, and if they hadn't received so many good reviews, I would probably be looking for a new Chinese place. As it is, I think we'll give it one more shot. read more

A lot of reviews on here talk about "big city Chinese food places," and that's all fine and good. But you didn't look up one of those places, because you want the same thing I do. A nice, heaping plate of General Tso's chicken, and an order of crab rangoon. I'm going to level with you...a lot of people around here used to swear by Hop Hing, and Hop Hing was great but it's gone now. So what are your choices? Well, you've got Asian Wok, which is all the way at the north end and you have to deal with Wal-Mart traffic, plus I don't think they're as good as China Garden. You've got whatever Fortune Buffet is about to become...a Japanese steakhouse, I think? So that's gone. And you have Wild Ginger, which from what I've heard is overpriced and not all that great. Then...there's China Garden. It is everything you want from an Americanized Chinese food restaurant. The lady that answers the phone is brief but polite, and accurately takes your order 100% of the time, a feat which fast food places staffed by native English speakers can only seem to do with a 70% success rate at best. The place is clean, the meals are tasty and affordable, and the staff are courteous when you go to pick it up. You can dine in if you'd like, and it's located conveniently on Beall Ave. right next to Wendy's. If you're one of those people that's too good to get a quart of chicken friend rice in a paper box and eat it with a fork while you watch Netflix, then it's really unfair of you to give this place a low rating. But if you're like me, then China Garden's going to be right up your alley. Go get your grub on. read more
