I have lived in danielson CT since 1997 when i was 6 years old. I am now 29 years old. Restaurants have come and gone, but my chinese food go to has not changed. This is a local business. Allen (the owner) is my best friends neighbor. His kids went to school with me (though we were not friends). C31 is my order generally with wonton soup, either that or the china garden mei fun (whoever left the review of it being bad is crazy, but everyone has their own tastes). The price point on yelp says 10$-30$ but my combo platter is 9$, unless you are getting a family sample platter, or food for 3 or more people, you wont come near 30$. Being in the army ive been to germany, spain, kuwait, iraq, afghanistan, texas, washington, virginia, arizona, pensylvania, basically most of the east coast, and i still crave china garden. I could be biased, its been my go to for 23 years since i was a kid with my family, but nothing hits the same for me as the familiar and juicy tastes of china gardens food. It is also one of my first stops when i get back from deployment to remind me that im home. Is it pretty? Nah, absolutely not, and it hasnt changed in appearance for as long as ive known, hell even the menu above the counter has the same pictures in there, but the food is good, the owners are great if you treat them with respect, and the food is priced great. Its not a high class chinese restaurant, you wont get fancy food, you will get delicious food. Want presentation? Go elsewhere. Want grear eats at an affordable price? Consider supporting this local business! Sorry, rant over, i just couldnt believe my favorite chinese restaurant since i was a kid had only 9 reviews and 3 stars. Goes to show usually only jaded customers use yelp. P.S. i noticed 1 review complained about the ribs. They have spare ribs and boneless spare ribs, if you dont want rhe bones, order the correct ribs :P they are delicious! read more

I mean, if you go into the experience with tempered expectations you're in for an easy win. You absolutely can not go wrong with the bone-in ribs, get a large cause you're gonna want more later. My boyfriend and I to the restaurant last minute. We walked in and ordered from the counter and waited for the food. The owner was very nice and was very speedy with getting the food done. I can't believe nobody has reviewed this place yet! China Garden is one of the best take out Chinese places I've ever been to, and that includes my time in San Francisco! For your money, the dumplings cannot be beat, you get 8, whereas most places only do 6 for more money. Their American-Chinese food is all uniformly great, I've never had anything I didn't like. However, they don't exactly cater to the healthy conscious crowd, so be aware that you're going to get delicious greasy fried food, not delicately steamed veggies. Great general Tso however I didn't care for the mei fun at all. I did not complain so that's on me. I'm sure they would have fixed it if I brought it to their attention. The gentleman that works/owner there is very friendly unfortunately the lady is not so friendly. I'm a tipper and I get upset after I tip 2$ and the lady tells me I have to pay for extra duck sauce.. yeah no thanks. I have been coming here about once a month for at least the last 15 years for take out. I get a small teriyaki beef & Sichuan beef platter. It has a good blend of sweet, sour, salty and spicy. It is not great but definitely the best in the area for under $15. read more

We typically order from here as it is the closest to us. last night my wife tried a new combo, chicken stir-fry. I thought I smelled something odd driving it home, but though nothing of it. Once she opened it an told me the chicken smelled like urine, I had to smell for myself. I think anyone would do the same. It was horrible - disgusting, That was an $8 waste. We threw the whole thing out. I will never order from this place again. I don't care if I have to drive 1/2hr farther. Nasty - no food should smell like that. So me and my boyfriend decided to get chinese food last night for dinner, and were going to go with Jade Garden in Danielson like we usually do, until I ran into reviews saying China Garden was the way to go (and the lack of Jade Garden having an online menu). Boy were we VERY sadly disappointed!!! I'll start off with listing what we ordered. We ordered the pu pu platter for two, a small order of crab ragoon, beef and broccoli combination plate, steamed dumplings, and a small pork fried rice. My total was about $5 more then what I expected it to be based off of their online website. But hey, it's the best around right? WRONG. I ordered the pu pu platter for 2 hoping to have left overs for today, well the pu pu platter for 2 has 2 pieces of chicken wings which I substituted for chicken fingers which were good. It also has 2 pieces of mediocre beef teriyaki, 2 tasteless but not greasy eggrolls, 2 pieces of crab ragoon, and 2 pieces of ribs. I didn't realize that bbq ribs were Chinese at all, I was expecting some nice boneless ribs, not a big slab of bone. I would also like to note that the crab ragoon tasted nothing like crab ragoon, they tasted like they were meant to be a dessert with how sweet they were. Luckily they were so thin (i'm talking thinner then my pinky finger), I hardly had to deal with the disgusting center. Fairly unappealing. The pork fried rice did have a good amount of pork in it, but there was really no flavor. Absolutely nothing compared to Jade Garden's pork fried rice. My boyfriend said he enjoyed the dumplings, I thought they were kinda mushy. Then there was the only appetizing aspect of the meal, the beef and broccoli. It was very good, not worth the $37 meal though. To top this meal of disappointment off, I went to bed sick, and I woke up at 2:30am this morning to my boyfriend vomiting due to this dinner. Where do I start! Upon my arrival, I noticed how unattractive the outside was! As I entered the front door my nose got a very disturbing surprise of what appeared to be sulfur! Good food, big portions, friendly owner. The steamed dumplings are amazing and they make their own dough and sausage stuffing. The boneless spare ribs are always a hit, but my favorite item of theirs is the chicken fried rice, homemade w/ big strips of white meat chicken, a meal in itself, I often find myself craving it. Restaurant is nothing fancy as it is a take out place. People complaining about the staff probably did not take the time to have a conversation with them. I have been wanting to try their food for quite some time. I went with my daughter and we ordered a platter for two and China garden lo mein on the side. I was disappointed , the teriyaki was very thin and rubbery, the chicken wings were yellow .. Yes yellow as if they used food coloring in them .. I found that odd. The Chinese ribs we ordered were literally ribs , a bone and there was hardly any meat on them. The lady at the counter did not make eye contact or even smile. Order the dumpling! They are steamed perfectly and are filled with deliciousness. I also always order the C31. It's a combination with boneless spareribs, fried rice, beef teriyaki, and an egg-roll. Portions are fair, as are the prices. read more
