My heart breaks for the residents of Hickory Flats having to accept this Chinese restaurant as the best around. It's acceptably average and designed for take-out -- e.g. all dine-in food served in take-out containers. This isn't always a bad thing, but it didn't add to the appeal of it. A Chinese restaurant nestled in the shopping plaza near Publix. When you enter this 6 table establishment you can smell the food being prepared was you rest. The woman behind the counter states back your order clearly as to not forget anything you asked for. The service is speedy when you ask about the 15 minute wait time. We promptly has our order of Chicken wings and spring rolls cooked and delivered to us immediately. Our food is piping hot and it smells delicious. Honestly, place is good. Maybe went in on a bad day but got the subgum wonton soup (wor wonton soup) and it had nothing but veggies with the wontons. Thought it would come with chicken, pork, and shrimp like normal wor wonton soup has in it. But got the sesame chicken combo dinner and was good, lo mein was good too. Only thing wasn't too sure of was what a shrimp roll up was. Thought maybe was like shrimp fried in an egg roll wrapper or like shrimp toast but rolled, but was essentially an egg roll with shrimp in it. Still tasty though. My family & I got delivery from here last night. I can't remember the last time I had takeout & it was good... but this food was good. Like I always try to say, be realistic with your expectations, if you're wanting extremely high quality Chinese food you need to go somewhere else. That being said, I didn't have super high expectations, but I'm glad I was wrong. The delivery took maybe 25 minutes from when I called in to when we received the food. The driver was nice & so was the lady who took our order. We got the house chow mein, veggie lo mein, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, 1 order of crab Rangoons & 2 egg rolls, along with 3 sides of rice & some condiments. Our total was $67 before tip. The portions were huge & the food was piping hot since the delivery was so quick, which was nice because we didn't have to reheat & got to enjoy the food when it was freshest. I had the noodles & sesame chicken which were good. Like I said, not the highest quality but I didn't get any weird pieces of chicken or anything gross & I ate the whole bowl I prepared. Best tasting Chinese at the cheapest price among all Chinese restaurants within 7 square miles. I've tried to find a good go to spot for a while and finally found it in China Garden (hickory flat). I drive an extra 4 miles to come to this location. Food is delicious, flavorful and spicy when appropriate and the lady up front is the nicest person. Seems like a lot of bad reviews are from a long time ago so maybe this location switched owners. I have nothing but five star things to say about this place. An order that costs $30 here is more like $38 elsewhere and it's better tasting food too. read more

Food was very bland. I ordered chicken fried rice with extra chicken. There was only 11 VERY small bites of chicken in the whole thing. The lady working there was not even nice. The owner is a sweet little woman who has a heart of gold! They will make your meal however you want because they care. It's all in the preparation and they perform consistently well. My wife and I got Chinese from China Garden in Canton. She asked them to omit the MSG. I must say, they're actually the best Chinese food I've had in recent memory. I got Chicken Lo Mein and asked them to substitute a spicy white sauce (no problem, by the way). Their noodles taste homemade (a pleasant surprise), and the shrimp egg rolls are the fluffiest, and non-greasy, that I've ever had. When we moved here in November, we tried some other places (which were *not* so good). But we'll be making China Garden our regular weekend treat. read more

I could not eat it, I just threw it away. Tonight I ordered BBQ spare ribs for the first time. I asked for a small order. I did not expect what I saw when I opened the carton. I want to do a fair assesment of the establishment. We ordered takeout the day after they were allowed to open during the Covid-19 pandemic. We waited for our food for two hours. I ordered from Door Dash, so couldn't cancel my order, but was able to get my meal for free and made sure to tip the dashers big time for having to wait two hours for our food. Completely unacceptable. With that, the food itself was bland. We stick with the classic, fried rice, rangoons, eggrolls, sesame chicken, which seem hard to mess up, but somehow they did. It is what you would expect in a strip mall in Canton. It appears that most of thier business is take out although they do have a handful of tables to dine in if you want. While we waited for our food serveral people came in for pick ups so that was a good sign for us.Our service was fine and so was our food. The shrimp fried rice ordered spicy has a nice little kick. BEST Chinese food around. I've been coming here at least 10 times a year for about 7 years. Right now I get every two weeks. I always get the sesame chicken with chicken fried rice and egg rolls. The dish could've been greatly improved if they had different vegetable varieties like baby corn or the water chestnuts. Overall the food was very bland and not very tasty. First time eating at this restaurant or ordering from here. Decided to do so during COVID-19 to give them business. It is pick up only and covered In shower curtains and plexiglass. Son was at Tae Kwon Do and thought I would give them a try. First thing I noticed when I went in was that no one behind the "glass" was wearing a mask or gloves. Secondly, EVERY thing we ordered was WRONG! When I ordered I wasn't asked for a name to attach to the order which led me to believe they aren't that busy. I walked in and my order was on a counter outside of the bubble they have created. Asked for extra spicy for one meal and it was not. Asked for extra sauce on another and it was not. Ordered chicken lo mein and ended up with shrimp which I am allergic. The fried rice that came with one of the meals was covered in some sort of grease. Wonton egg drop soup was extremely delicious and worth the money gave me fried wonton strips with the soup. Sesame chicken combination plate was excellent even substituted the fried rice for white came with egg roll and lunch specials are perfect for single people between 12pm to 3pm and the lunch special varieties are amazing and budget friendly if you want a lot of food for a low price also can substitute fried rice for white.
