Ordered chicken broccoli combination which had a slight taste of cinnamon. The rice was a lil on the crunchy side and could have been cooked more. After dinner, I didn't feel so great and at 3am became extremely sick. I was up and down into the bathroom and was not able to make it to a very important medical appointment early this morning which has to now be rescheduled. On top of that I missed a full day of work. I had to chime in with a good review. Our usual Chinese restaurant wasn't delivering, and we found this on Doordash, so we decided to try it. I saw the negative reviews after we ordered, so I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered orange tofu, which most Chinese restaurants don't have. It was really good! It was all tofu, so it was a good value. And the sauce was so good! Truly the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. My husband had beef in garlic sauce and egg foo young, and he really liked it, too. We're already planning to order from here next time we want Chinese food. Very good! read more

So I haven't had Chinese food in a while because it seems I'm always on a diet. The other day was a cheat day, and I wanted Chinese! I really wanted it from a place I usually order from, so I asked my brother if he could pick it up. All good so far, right? The dish I was really craving was orange chicken. My brother came home with the food I asked him for...just one thing was different. There was not one but two bags of Chinese food from two different restaurants. My brother really likes the vegetable fried rice from China chef and for some reason he got my orange chicken from here as well. I thought I was going to be let down but To my surprise..this was the best orange chicken dishes I have ever had. Even better than the place I usually order from. It was crispy, fried to perfection...it was sweet..with an emphasis on orange flavor...it had real slices of orange peels in it...it had some kick to it..spicy but not overly spicy..which I feel just made it. Wow just wow. This is what I love...trying something by chance that becomes a favorite. I haven't had much else on their menu, but if the rest of the food is half as good as this orange chicken....I think I might have found a new favorite Chinese restaurant! read more

Ordered Kung Po Chicken - I always thought it was Kung Pao, but who needs that "a" anyway? It had no sauce and almost no peanuts. It was just chopped veggies and what looked like dark chicken nuggets. My wife ordered Chicken in Garlic Sauce, and hers was red - never seen red garlic sauce, it's usually dark brown. I actually liked hers, it tasted like a spicy Sweet and Sour Chicken. But she didn't like it, because she didn't order Sweet and Sour Chicken. We each got a Pork Egg Roll and they were good. Order was ready in minutes. Prices were good. But it would help if their online menu had a description of the dish - only dish titles. And no ability to order level of spiciness - 1 through 5 is what we are used to. We'll keep looking. read more

What a bummer. It has been awhile since I've ordered from here because I don't live in Webster any more, but I do work out that way and decided in a pinch to grab a late lunch while I was there. I'm pretty much stuck at my work, so I ordered via Yelp!, and therefore, GrubHub. The weather was awful. I will preface this by saying that. I ordered around 3:15. I was quoted about 45-1 hr for delivery. Okay, no worries, I know the weather is crap. So then there is a delay in my order. Okay, yes, the weather is terrible. I was super excited to get the notification that my food was on the way! I happily handed the delivery guy an extra couple of bucks for the trouble, because it was really crappy out. As soon as we do the hand off, he gets a phone call. The restaurant gave him the wrong fucking order. So, I had to hand the food back to him and wait another 20ish minutes for my food. I had been waiting over an hour at this point for my food, my shift was going to be ending in less than 2 hours, and I was HANGRY. Delivery driver was nice enough to go and get me the correct food, however, by the time he returned it was nearly 5, my food was cold, and honestly, was pretty terrible tasting. The restaurant never called or messaged me, did not offer an apology of any kind, no discount, nothing. I work in customer service and I go out of my way to make sure my customers are happy. If something isn't right, I fix it the best I possibly can. This ensures that they keep coming back to see me, and they are happy to do so. It doesn't seem that's the case with China Chef. Really disappointing, as they are normally a 5 minute drive from my place of employment (both are located on Ridge Road). I really did try to give him the benefit of the doubt because of the weather, and it wasn't his fault the restaurant handed him the wrong order, but I'm pretty pissed off. What's more disappointing is that there is another one of these restaurants near my place in East Rochester, and they will also be losing my business. I'd pick any place before either of these. It makes me realize there ARE differences between restaurants. Grubhub delivered sesame chicken, egg roll, fried rIce. I just throw most of it in the garbage. Unedible. New to town and trying to find a local Chinese restaurant! We had the: Boneless Chicken, Sweet and Sour Shrimp; Pork Fried Rice; and steamed dumplings. Oh, and an egg roll. Everything was delicious and delivered as promised! The Boneless Chicken was very close to War Su Gai but with the addition of baby corn, carrots, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms. It was very generous on the chicken! The shrimp were fresh and large and the Fried Rice uses Chinese style roast pork which is a boon for us! The steamed dumplings were the thicker style (not Wor Tip) but the pork filling was flavorful and the dipping sauce was was had a nice balance of garlic and ginger. The only thing I'd change is that I'd skip the egg roll. It was fresh and hot, but was kinda 'meh' in the flavor. That being said, we'll definitely be back! This place is my family's go to for Chinese takeout. The food is pretty standard as to what you would expect from an American Chinese restaurant. The ingredients are fresh, and the portions extremely generous. There is something to please every palate! Just be sure to double check your order when you pick it up... Every once in a great while, I've found a dish missing. Whenever this happened in the past, the staff was very apologetic and quickly made it for me. Terrible customer service experience!! I have been going to China Chef since I moved to Webster, and have never had an issue; today however, that changed. My friend and I are both vegetarians and ordered from the tofu menu. We ordered sesame tofu combo platter with fried rice, and veggie egg rolls. Since we don't eat meat, she specifically requested veggie fried rice, and veggie egg rolls. When we got home and started eating she realized there was pork not only in her fried rice but in her egg roll as well. We called to complain and the woman on the phone who had taken our order vehemently denied we ordered veggie, and that pork always comes in the fried rice. She said there was nothing that could be done, unless we came in and they would replace it. When I drove back, the woman who I spoke with on the phone was not there and I spoke with one of the owners. She said we did not request veggie, even though she was not on the phone. She also aggressively told me to take a better look at the menu, and that the fried rice always comes with pork in the platters. However, it is not specifically stated anywhere on the menu online, or on the paper one. I explained that we don't eat meat and that it will make us sick if we unintentionally do! They never once apologized for making the mistake. The disrespect and lack of concern for endangering our health was upsetting. While I enjoy the food here, I don't think I will ever go back. read more

This was the wrong Chinese restaurant to call for delivery. It took one hour for my delivery. Some of it was very good and some of it was poor. One Shrimp spring rolls was greasy and mushy, the other was crispy and fresh. There was no sauce included for them. Sesame Chicken was as good I had ever had. Shrimp egg rolls were dry, greasy, and looked like they had been sitting around a while before they had been cooked. Fried dumplings were marginally burned and they were dry. When you bit into them the little piece of pork would come rolling right out of the dumpling. The shrimp lo mein was bland with very little shrimp included. The pepper steak and onions was inedible. The peppers and onions were old and the beef had some kind of a film on it. I threw it out. I have been on a bad roll with my restaurant experiences lately. I sure hope that changes soon and I give China Chef of Webster N.Y. two unenthusiastic Yelp stars. It is a darn shame. read more

We ordered and paid for this order online for drive up no contact pickup. When we got there they had no idea where our order was and nothing was ready. They said they never got the order even though i showed them the order receipt and the order confirmation number. They said they didnt get it and really didnt care to do anything about it. We had to go n and talk to them and they were rude and really didnt care if we got an order from them or not. I also showed them a pending charge on my credit card as well, but they didnt care. I had to call and cancel that charge on my credit card. I will definitely not go there again when they have no idea what they are doing. I hope they know they need to count on the public to keep them in business and treating customers like this just wont do it. read more

Subpar, mediocre service. My coworkers get this every Wednesday for "Chinese Wednesdays" , I had it once and was extremely sick. The spice on the general toss was great, but the chicken was NOT cooked thoroughly. Then - I found a hair in my rice. Give Spring Garden a try, it's right down the road! I ordered for the first time from this place. I ordered a Pu Pu Platter and the Shrimp with Broccoli. The Pu Pu Platter was just awful. It came with two beef on sticks (such a rancid flavor that I threw them away), two crab ragoon (a fried ball of mush), two spareribs (not bad), two fried shrimp (not included so I don't know if they were good or not), two chicken wings (nothing to write home about), two egg rolls (okay), and four shrimp toast (they were the worst I have ever had). The Shrimp with Broccoli was pretty tasty but the ratio of shrimp to broccoli was woefully inadequate. So I guess I'm still in search of a decent Pu Pu Platter in Rochester. read more

While the food is good the delivery is not great. We be ordered from here a few times for delivery and more often then not they have forgotten something. And if you want any spicy mustard or duck sauce you will need to ask for it, because you won't find it in your bag. I would recommend pick up only. Also whoever answers the phone is not the most pleasant guy, I'm assuming he's the one that is usually cashing you out when you pick up. Customer Service is not their strong suit. read more

This place always has very very fresh tasting food. They never get the order wrong either. 20 in there, the kitchen is rather small, in the entire restaurant really is quite cramped. To me, this is an indicator it will probably be a very high quality establishment. They work very efficiently, and they have a system in place that can be imitated in any other like establishment.
