I got food poisoning from this place! I ate a California roll, chewed it up and as I was swallowing it I noticed a foul taste (which reminded me of the way garbage smells). A couple of hours later I got a major headache and began feeling nauseous. I spent the next four days close to my toilet as I expelled from both ends. They actually deserve minus stars! Steer clear unless you like MSG and don't mind playing Russian roulette with your health! BTW-I'm a California transplant (San Francisco Bay Area) and in my opinion, this place would never survive that market. Let's get one thing straight. I am a Chinese Buffet Pro. I have been to probably 50 different Chinese buffets across the State of Texas. It is somewhat of a guilty pleasure so this is actually the first one that I have reviewed. How in the world is the place ranked below "Jakes"??? This is really good. Fresh, and well prepared. This was my first time at this restaurant and will probably return. Staff there is very friendly and warm with there greetings. Flavor of the food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't get the Lomein noodles that where supposedly to come with the combination I ordered and the chicken in both the Sweet & Sour and General Tso chicken was really tough - like it was over cooked or even reheated. My wife ordered beef and broccoli and said it was good . Again will probably give it another go unless we find another option around Temple. read more

So maybe dining in is a different experience than ordering out, because the delivered food was not good. Nothing tasted fresh. Anything that was supposed to be crispy was soggy. Pretty high priced for the small portions. My least favorite thing was the chicken fried rice. There were so many large pieces of under cooked onion in it, it was inedible. Really tasted like they sautéed a few bits of chicken with a ton of onions and mixed it with their buffet fried rice. I've tried a lot of Chinese places because where I used to live had amazing food and I've been disappointed here in Texas, and this place doesn't disappoint. The buffet is good, but order off the menu, especially items not found on the buffet and you will get fresh, and super delicious food that will make you come back time and time again. I usually order the garlic chicken and it's full of garlic sauce and huge pieces of chicken, and veggies, plus the pork fried rice that comes with it will fill you up. I ordered Mapo Tofu and I was so very impressed! I had been researching the dish after seeing it on their menu. I added a few extra ingredients and am in love with the options given! Food tasted pretty decent otherwise, nothing against the actual restaurant. But never again because of the aftermath of eating from there. I'm sorry, but the food I've ordered here on two occasions simply does not measure up to great restaurants I've eaten at elsewhere. General Tso chicken was best, but not too good. Flavor was off, the chicken pieces were way too big and gristly, and I'm confused why a big slice of jalapeño was plunked in the center of the tray. Lo mein was pretty poor. I did not like the flavor of the sauce at all, and the beef strips were fatty and rubbery in texture. I couldn't force myself to keep chewing or even to swallow it. The buffet here is decent. Always pretty fresh but the best part is the sushi. They don't put out previous frozen sushi like most buffets. The actually have a sushi chef that is standing there making fresh sushi. This in my opinion is the best buffet in Central Texas. read more

Let's start with the decor. Obnoxious, giant pictures of the married couple (owners?) are not the visual cues I want while eating. Although, this all could be turned around if the groom had posed in gold hot pants a la Rocky of the Rocky Horror Picture Show- this would have been strangely acceptable. Ironically, I'm comfortable with the creepy clowns in Salgados. Maybe because they're not framed. Or maybe because they're not trying to show off for everyone. I went with a friend. We were sat, drinks ordered and off we went to fill our plates. We return, almost simultaneously to our booth and begin to eat separate dishes and immediately spit out our food. Why? It's cold. Two different items from the buffet, and they're cold. How cold? Ice cold. Hot food should be held at a minimum temperature of 140 degrees fahrenheit, and really shouldn't be held for longer than 4 hours. About this time the waitress arrived with our drinks and we informed her we were leaving, that the food was cold and unacceptable and they freaked out like we were trying to do a dine and dash. I'm sorry, if I my intentions were to eat your food and not pay for it, I would eat the food first. We did leave and we did not pay. We didn't even eat. Hell, we didn't even get a sip of our drinks. TL;DR Clearly no one attended a food safety class- dine at your own risk. read more

Five words. Shrimp Lo Mein Crab Rangoons If you want Chinese heaven, this it it. We order take out whenever we come up to visit the in-laws, and my stomach always pants with anticipation. The Shrimp Lo Mein comes tightly packed with delicious rice with flecks of vegetables scattered among the grains and mouth-licking noodles overflowing with flavor clothing the shrimp and the assortment of greens that bathe in the sauces. Squirt some soy and duck sauce over the combo, and taste buds are alive and kicking long after the meal is over. And don't even get me started on the crab rangoons. I love sinking my teeth in their sweet, garlicky pillows of crab cooked to perfection. I could eat 100 of those in one sitting. I must say that part of me is disappointed. I didn't need any competition for Chinese food as I already found my favorite in the area. However, this restaurant has made it a little more problematic for me. Why? Read on. I have only eaten here for dinner, so I don't know what lunch is like. At dinner, they have a live sushi chief. The sushi is part of the buffet. Every time I'm there, he has asked me what is my favorite. Usually, I'll just say everything already made looks great (because it does). It tastes great, too. They have steamed crab legs (at least a night) as well. I usually get these last because I get pretty messy with them. All but once, they have been great (the one other time I was there pretty late and I think they had been sitting for a while). My favorite dish is their coconut shrimp as far as Chinese dishes. Their egg drop soups is really good, but my favorite in the area is Yank Sing's in Temple. Because of what you get in the evening, this place is a little pricier than I would like, however. It is worth it for the freshly-prepared in front of you sushi and the crab legs. Another great choice in Belton is Jake's. Doesn't sound Chinese, but it is. It tastes great. Selection is somewhat small, but the taste is great. It is cheaper than China Cafe. read more

Just had lunch here. Food was great. What leads me to write the review was the overall customer service and care that goes into the business. The staff was putting together a large carry out for someone. The manager came out to double check it. I over heard him say that if she wasn't there in just a few minutes to please call her. I usually either go big like PF Changs or do quick and cheap like Panda Express. I decided to try something new. I didn't expect perfection but for their prices I expected better. Also, one hour waiting for delivery will make you expect even more. The orange chicken was not good. The sauce was too sticky and thick. The Kung Pao chicken was labeled "spicy" ... Not spicy at all and way too many vegetables. Why did I pay 9 stinking dollars for a few chicken bites and a load of veggies? Oh, that's not it. The food made me sick. I threw up and was up all night feeling sick. Conclusion? If you want cheap Chinese just go to Panda Express in Temple. It's worth the few extra minutes of driving and saving money. I was told that this was one of the better sushi places in Belton so I decided to pay for a buffet and check out the sushi bar. I was very disappointed with the sushi and the sushi chef. The sushi tasted as if it had been refrigerated for hours. Had I wanted refrigerated sushi I would've gone to H-E-B. I also felt that each sushi roll had been drowned in spicy mayo! taking away from the flavors of the fish. The sushi chef was not attentive and he didn't seem to care about the quality of the sushi. My waiter Jericho was phenomenal! He went above and beyond each time he came to my table to check on me. This is a typical Americanize Chinese buffet that offer menu service. After checking out the buffet line and observing that the items were dry and inedible, we opt to order from the menu. Placing our order was a task in itself, it seems the server was new and not having been properly train on how to take order. She was really nice, and check on us often but that was it. We order roast pork and green beans, mapo tofu and shrimp egg foo young. The shrimp egg foo young was on point but the other two dishes was too salty. Mapo tofu it's typically made with silken tofu but here they make it with medium tofu and no spice at all. The roast pork and green bean had old and dry bbq pork with over cooked and dry fried green beans. We asked for some hot oil to spice up the tofu dish. Upon receiving the bill we were charged $1.38 for 8 0z Of hot oil when we received only no more than 1.5 oz of it and using only a pinch of what we received. This is ridiculous to charge a customer a standard condiments in any Chinese restaurant and they did not have any courtesy to inform us that there will be a charge. Needless to say we will not be back again nor will we recommend anyone from eating here. read more

It's hot, fresh, and there is a really nice variety; sushi, fresh grilled meats, and the typical Chinese American foods found at every buffet. I placed my order for delivery at 7pm and did not receive my delivery until 2 hours later even though I'm 14min away. unfortunately the quality of food we ordered wasn't worth the wait and the price. I'd recommend going here if you dine it maybe you'll get faster service but definitely don't order for delivery unless you don't mind waiting 2+ hours. read more
