I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived, my order took several minutes longer, but it wasn't long. The staff were pleasant and professional. The inside looked immaculate. I didn't look at the buffet, but there were plenty of tables filled, so im sure it was all good! I'll be back with friends to try the buffet soon! I went to China Buffet on Easter. There was a nice crowd there. I purchased the Buffet to Go. You get a Styrofoam container, pick your items and come back to the register. Your food is weighed, you pay and leave. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Great selection of food, fresh and hot. The dining area was clean. Staff were nice. The interior is extremely clean , plenty of seating and very friendly , kind employees. The food selection was large and well organized, hot and stocked frequently. You'd never expect such a good buffet from the outside, but it's soooo good!! They also have that vanilla wafer pudding!

As you enter they are quick to seat you & take your drink order. They have two hot food bars along with a salad & desert bar with three flavors of ice cream. Fried zucchini was so tender crisp and seasoned so well for the zucchini flavor to come out. Udon noodles had the perfect chew and tasted like, well udon noodles should. This place is exactly what I want from a Chinese buffet. Here's the thing, the storefront and dining room look like what you find at the end of twenty miles of rough road. That said, you don't go to a Chinese buffet for the fixtures. I mean, yes, the faded backlit photograph of the Li River is kind of a must and does set the stage but if the table wobbles a bit and the chair cushions are a somewhat flat, there's nothing in that to really complain about. And don't confuse cracked tiles and old fixtures for "dirty". I found this place to be plenty clean and the health department seems to agree. The food though. Again, don't be put off by the smallish buffet. You're getting quality over quantity. As we ate, the kitchen staff busily replenished all of the dishes and the flavor was top-notch for a buffet. You can tell they're not taking shortcuts. Even the "Chicken on a Stick" was tender, not the jerky you sometimes find. I highly recommend this buffet. read more

Decided to stop in for lunch one weekend while in South County, and I have to say that I will not make the same mistake twice. First off the location of China Buffett is awful, located off Lemay Ferry and behind several stores on Lindbergh you will find a Kmart with a nearly abandon strip mall with several scattered stores, China Buffet is one of them. Once we walked in the hostess immediately saw two of us and stared walking to a table hardly giving us a chance to get in the door. However once we were at our table she took our drink order and we were off to the buffet. Selection here is fair, however the food was average at best. Some of the honey chicken was really tough and the crab/cheese Rangoon were rather poor quality. Overall I wouldn't recommend this I will say that after sitting down and eating I noticed that the ceiling was rather dirty and imagine that the entire place could use a good scrubbing. Price was fair and for two people the bill was only $17.50. Wasn't the worst experience, however it was hardly worthy of a 3 star rating. read more

I have been here a few times with my husband who is a Saint Louis native. He has been here many times before we met as well. We were here most recently this past Sunday. We no longer live in Saint Louis and were passing through. Money was tight and our other option was Taco Bell which didn't sound too good. I am glad he had the idea to stop here. The string beans were really good. Everything else was a little greasy, but hit the spot. The breaded zucchini looked really good, but was a little soggy. Most of the food looked fresh & hot though. They seemed to be putting quite a few fresh trays out. We were here about two in the afternoon. We had been here for dinner once and some of the items seemed to have been sitting for quite awhile, but I guess they don't replenish the trays as much near closing time. I had two small plates of food and was pretty full. Too bad we had to get back on the road and couldn't take a nap. I did not have any, but noticed they have some sort of macaroni and cheese on the buffet and ice cream cones. I think it's a little strange. Too bad they don't have vegetable spring rolls or some sort of bean curd dish on the buffet. That would be awesome! Other than the food being average, I wish the place was cleaner. Our table wasn't terribly clean. The ceiling is stained badly and the restroom was awful. The first stall was really dirty with an unflushed toilet (yeah, just what you want to hear about in a restaurant review, eh?) I went in the middle stall and about fell in. I didn't notice the seat was completely detached when I was putting a layer of paper on it. So, the place needs to be hosed down & probably remodeled, but it was a good option that day. If we had more money & time, I am sure we would have gone somewhere better. They had general to chicken, crispy honey chicken, low mein, pepper beef, teriyaki chicken skewers, 2 kinds of rice, Mongolian beef, meatballs, chicken wings, dumings, crab rangoon, 3 soups and dozens of deserts. All this and more for $6.99. It's not the best chinese I have had but it was good and for $6.99, it was awesome.
