This place is extremely dirty. I went here and found Mold in my soup. A piece of MOLD. They are also very nasty and the place is very dirty. Filthy carpets and utensils. Graffiti all over the bathroom . They way over charge and the waitresses talk crap about customers in Chinese as they are eating. If you like unsanitary places with bugs and mold, come here. Great for a buffet to sit and eat price but not so good for the take out food. Great price for all you can eat crab legs. The staff is very pushy and rude. If you headed to McDonalds and decided to come here then you've made a good choice. For about the same price you can have a variety ant lunch but beware sometimes too much variety means that there are a few good tasting items and the rest disgusting. The desserts were stale and most dishes were less than ok. There was a shrimp and squash dish that was really good..simple and worth the price of the entire lunch. Disgusting. The food was inedible. Whatever didn't taste funky tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The waitresses and staff were expressionless and barely said three words to us the entire time we were there. The bathroom was covered with graffiti, on both the walls and stall divider. The place as a whole felt like, after they built it, they hadn't put any care into it since. My girlfriend and I both felt sick from the time we ate yesterday until this morning. I thought maybe the dessert would be the saving grace, but it was even worse somehow. Everything tasted fake. Fake chocolate, fake cookies, fake brownies. The cherry on top was the cream puffs. Both of the ones I tried were stale on the outside; one had a filling which was akin to a stale marshmallow, and one didn't even have filling in it. I can't recommend that anyone go here. Excellent buffet, really good price for great food. Unusually they have a "brunch" buffet on a Sunday, which was a wonderful surprise. Amazing selection and lots of dishes you don't always see at buffets. Soft serve ice cream which is always my favorite. I like this place. Pretty good variety of food. I love the roast duck. Apparently, I'm not the only one, as that tray is usually the quickest to empty. They have a few different kinds of chicken, seafood, and a good variety of desserts including fresh fruit and cakes. Also, you can take food out and pay according to the weight. It is next to Boston Market, which sometimes has long lines, so if you don't want to deal with the lines, it is a good option. Some reviewers have commented on this place being dirty, I have been there many times and have not experienced that. read more

This buffet was dissapointing. The staff was very unfriendly and disrespectful. Upon my family's arrival the staff wanted to charge us for dinner though it wasn't their dinner time yet. They made a big deal about the timing but reluctantly charged us for lunch. We mistakenly picked up some food from the dinner menu and were confronted by the waitress at the table. The waitress aggressively stretched over the table and tried to grab the plate not even waiting to hear our feedback. We agreed to pay for the dinner explaining that they didn't have to take the plate away. People who were around at lunch time also took food from the dinner menu and were left alone presumably because they didn't dare to dispute having to pay for lunch or dinner. The entire time we ate a staff member stood watching us and made us very uncomfortable. We ended up paying early just so we could eat comfortably and were still observed. This was definitely a bad dining experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone hoping to have a good time or find friendly staff. They treat customers like only their money matters and like they aren't people. Avoid this place I do not recommend it. read more

The food here is great. Lunch for like $7.50. Amazing deal! No complaints. Clean, great lunch service, and sushi is very fresh. Only complaint I have is that the desserts are only about average. People talk about how dirty they perceive this place, but it's clean enough for me! I've gone here so many times that I have spent hundreds of dollars here on myself alone. It's nice to have if you live in the neighborhood. If you're coming from somewhere else, it's not too far from the LIRR station. It's only a number of blocks from LIRR station, and the streets are not too treacherous to cross (though they do become a bit of a b*tch to cross during rush hour.) My friend told me that if I eat here, at some point where I will get sick from it. Well, it hasn't happened yet! I have to admit that there were times when I saw certain foods looking grey or wilted. When you see that, you avoid eating it. Anything that is grey or wilting or abnormal is not something that you should. For the most part, the food is pretty good, and it's a pretty good deal for seafood. Anywhere else, seafood is so expensive and you hardly get your money's worth , portion-wise. As someone that can't cook food well, I love it. I must say though; there were times when I went there for a month or two in a row, and consistently saw some of the food becoming more and more wilted as time went by. When that happened, I would stop going, wait a few months, go again, and see the food look fresh again. Of course, you do get some grumpies in the waitstaff, but at least they treat you like a human being and are grateful for any monetary tip that comes their way. I;ve been to other Asian places (cough) Ichi Umi, a sushi/seafood in Manhattan (cough) where the people in the wait staff were really mean and deceptive and demanding about the tips. I've checked out places in the city, and when you add up how the staff treats you with the variety, it's really is a lot better than all you can eats in the city. It's a bit off the beaten path from the city, and city people probably think that Long Island is so far away and off the beaten track, but it's not, and this place isn't. And, I must admit that a lot of white people don't go this buffet, most likely because they don't want to sit around blacks and Hispanics. (Though white people DO go there) Maybe they're afraid of being attacked, or maybe sitting around those people makes them uncomfortable. Maybe a little bit of both. I'm white, and I'm telling you this: Nobody is going to bother you at the China King Buffet. Well, never say never, but I've never seen anything bad happen there. People mind their own business. I know fellow white people who are proud to live in Valley Stream, but they go all the way to a buffet in Bethpage because they want to go to what they call a "classy" buffet instead of conveniently patronizing a business in their own neighborhood--just because they don't want to see a black face (as far as I believe). They brag about how it's so awesome that this place in Bethpage has crab legs, as if there isn't a place in town that has them. Then you mention to them this buffet, and they give you a blank look. Jack*sses. A lot of the food is buttery, so be prepared for that, though they do have steamed clams and raw stuff. I like their sushi. The only concern that I have is where they are getting all of that seafood. It's not just something that concerns me with the China Buffet King. It also concerns me with any restaurants that I go to, especially Asian restaurants. I'm afraid of that whole Fukishima thing with radiations going into the Pacific. read more

I am scratching my head to figure why did a reviewer give this place such a pathetic review? I am a recent regular to China Buffet and I can say that the food is excellent! I have been to similar all-you-can-eat buffet style Chinese restaurants (both good and bad) and I rank this as one of the best. The food is kept fresh and constantly replenished. I would rank it with the fine buffet style restaurants that I've visited in Flushing, Queen's Chinatown district. China Buffet offers everything, literally from soup to dessert . Prices are very reasonable. I don't know of any buffet restaurants that will give you all of the fresh lobster, clams, fried fish, calamari and crabs that you can eat for less than $12.00 for dinner??? Every time I am there, I see people loading up their plates!!! I totally disagree with the reviewer that said China Buffet King is a small restaurant. For a strip mall restaurant, the size of China Buffet King is pretty big. They also have a separate area in the back for private parties. The private room is somewhat lacking. But it serves it purpose nicely.Also, It's very popular dining place, based upon the level of patronage that I've seen during the times that I am there. Furthermore, the staff is courteous and friendly. If you decide to go, make sure you come during the beginning of the lunch or dinner hour, because you wanna to get there when they bring out the first batch of food from the kitchen. honestly, I don't recommend anyone to going here. the food is good, yes. but their customer service is HORRIBLE. today, I received dirty looks from the waitresses and when we (my friends and I) asked for a refill, they denied us. they said they didn't have any drinks left. is that right? no. regardless if I spent an hour And a half at a restaurant there's no reason to deny me drinks and give me dirty looks. My wife Dee had her 65th Birthday party here - it was a huge success. We checked out other venues and for the amount of people we wanted we couldn't do everything we wanted to do. Having the party here fit our budget. We checked the food out a few weeks before, the food was delcious and offered a wide variety. We only had a small deposit down months before to hold the room. We worked with Chan and Megie to coordinate. The day of the party they allowed us to decorate the room however we wanted. The wait staff was courteous and extremely attentive. Everyone had a wonderful time - it was perfect. We live in Valley Stream and because it was local many friends and neighbors came and some relatives from far away. I cannot give enough kudos to them - everything was awesmoe and perfect. Our group was 30 people. We made a lovely party and will have lovely memories for years to come - Dee was on Cloud 9! read more
