The owner remembered an issue that I had last June, and what he had suggested probably would've prevented this request and this updated review from even happening that I am making presently. None of the others I reached out to had the foresight that AAA Chimney Experts had. AAA is all about quality, prevention, and minimal aggravation for the consumer. They may or may not always have a good schedule for you- it's hit or miss as it seems that way with most businesses in the construction field. Price from prior was reasonable and I would've probably gone with this company this time around, but my request was somewhat more timely than before.

Once the appointment was booked there wasn't much confidence that he would keep the appointment. Because of this, I kept calling around and found someone who could do it sooner and they had a better price, so I went with them. When I called him back to cancel (with over 10 days until our appointment) he got mad and asked why I was canceling, and then proceeded to say, "you know what I'm not going to fight for this [appointment], if this guy wants to cancel then fine." And then he hung up on me. Obviously a real professional. I would suggest you look elsewhere. UPDATE: in reply to the comment below; I was not mad about availability, two weeks out was reasonable. The issue I had was the uncertainty they had that they could "probably get out to me in two weeks." "Probably" doesn't help anybody. So even though we had a date on the books, it seemed very uncertain. This is why I kept looking for other options. I called to cancel with plenty of time to give them a heads up, but the response I got was rude, and yes, they hung up on me. If they were in the field and could not talk then they could 1) not answer and take a message, or 2) let me know that they were currently occupied. Instead they asked why I was cancelling and as I was trying to answer them they interrupted me and rudely said "I'm not going to fight for this, if this guy wants to cancel then fine" and then hung up on me. Rude from beginning to end. If they didn't want to do the sweep job they should have said so, that would have been fine. But to reluctantly take the job and then treat a booked customer like that is ridiculous. It's correct I never received service from them, nor would I want to now. Their work may be top notch, but I didn't have a decent interaction with them during any of the calls. They're rude and they obviously don't see how they treat the people they speak with.

We called three roofers; of the three, only J & K actually followed through with a visit and an estimate (even though the other roofers said they'd get right back to me). In contrast, J & K was very responsive, came out immediately to look at the job, and was able to fit us in right away. Because we were impressed with J & K, we didn't wait around trying to browbeat other roofers into giving us estimates. This means I can't comment on whether J & K's price was high or low; but it seemed fair. They showed up when they said they would, and got the job done quickly. Importantly, they didn't make a mess--the job site was VERY neat. The workers were disciplined and professional. I was extremely impressed. They don't use hot tar, and so we didn't have a stinking cauldron bubbling away in front of our house, which was nice. We interacted with John, who is highly knowledgeable and competent, as well as pleasant to deal with. I'm not a roofer, and I guess we'll have to wait 10 years to be sure that this was a good investment. Having said that, our dealings with J & K Roofing so far have been outstanding, and have exceeded my expectations in every way.

They put a roof on my house which immediately leaked and had several areas of poor workmanship. It…read morewas brought to the owners attention numerous times. When they finally came out to look at the issues it was discovered my attic was filled with mold from the active leaks from their poor roof job. I had several engineers, roofing companies, insulation companies, as well as mold remediation companies state it was caused by the roof. The ridge vent was illegally done, stretched shingles etc and was not done up to code. They stated they would be back to remediate the mold months ago and have never showed back to take care of it. On the contract it stated if a subcontractor was used to install the roof they would be noted on the contract. They subcontracted this roof and did not have it noted on the contract. This is breach of contract... they also did a roof for a friend of mine and subcontracted it out and did not mention it in contract. Another breach of contract.... This roof also has several issues that need to be addressed from poor workmanship. It is a shame it has come to this but I have given you chance after chance to make things right. I have documentation for everything to prove their poor work as well as breach of contract. This should have been claimed in your insurance policy for repairs. Make "On Call" your last call is what their slogan should be. Spend your money with someone that stands behind their work. Not these guys; sorry John, you had your chance. This is not the end. This is the beginning.

On call came out, cleaned and dried out the basement, as well as cleared the drain pipe. They noticed there was a dip in the main sewer line and self performed the replacement from lead to PVC. After the plumbing and remediation was complete John came out and helped layout and design the finished basement. It's space we never imagined previously. With all that said, he worked with us and the insurance company to make the repairs, and was absolutely fair in pricing the additional work to upgrade our living space.
