After a front and rear-end collision my car got towed to Chilton on Monday to get an estimate. The Chilton call center asked me repeatedly to sign a contract that authorizes the repair. I told them repeatedly that I don't want to authorize the repair. The repair cost could exceed the value of the car. I talked to the call center manager Yesenia. Then yesterday and today I got a call from Elisa, assistant mgr in the Burlingame location. Now she is looking to talk to her manager. THIS SEEM TO BE VERY SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES: Essentially trying to hold me hostage and not providing an estimate, which the insurance company needs to proceed with this claim. I had a minor body work with CARSTAR Burlingame. However, my car's A/C did not work right after the repair. I returned to CARSTAR Burlingame for an exam, but the engineer kept saying the A/C is old and was nothing to do with the repair. I had no choice and went to another body shop. Then, we figured out the ambient temperature sensor WAS MISSING and the A/C pressure transducer WAS NOT WORKING, which caused the issue with A/C. I needed to spend $894.04 from my own pocket to fix this issue. What a nightmare! Check the invoice I got from another body shop after the A/C issue casued by the repair. NOT recommend CARSTAR Burlingame at all. If you have other choices, go there instead. read more

They car fixed just fine but I have a few other issues. First my car that used to have a new car smell smelled like paint by the time they were done. On top of that my steering wheel was crooked even after doing the alignment on site. I called them the next day and they gaslighted me about the whole thing. So assuming they did the alignment properly, then that means there is an issue with the frame of the body or maybe the suspension. Either way this could have been told to insurance and paid for. The other option is they never did the alignment or who knows what else. What pissed me off was the way he spoke to me on the phone all dismissive and brushing me off. Apparently Chilton does all the work for Nationwide so they don't care when the business is already coming in. Also Nationwide doesn't cover all the costs of Teslas body shop in San Jose. I took my previous Tesla there and never had issues. read more

Done in two weeks! From drop off to pick up, it took a total of 2 weeks to replace a door. My experience was very very pleasant! Emily scheduled my appointment with my insurance, when I got there Sandra and her helped me out with rental car and paperwork. And Ronny handled my pick up yesterday. And YES! They detailed my car inside and out!!! Everyone is so nice there, they explained what is being done and sent me an estimate via email. Sandra called multiple times just to make sure I received all documents. The whole process was flawless. They are friendly and professional. Very easy to work with. My insurance company said I had to go to Chilton on Rollins for an estimate. When I got there, the guy said I had to go to their other location on Bayswater. When I got there, a guy just locked up the gate and was getting into his car outside the gate. I stopped and wanted to ask him a question, before I was able to say anything he said "MOVE YOUR CAR!" I said "can I ask you a question?" He said again "MOVE YOUR CAR OR I'LL CALL THE POLICE!" The guy aggressively threatened me and all I wanted to do was ask a question! So many years ago I was hit and used the "recommended" repair place from the guys insurance company. It was mess, the work was poor and I was not happy. I swore I would never do it again. Then a month ago I had a tree fall hit my car and do some damage. Fortunately the damage was all to the surface of the car and windshield. I decided to use the State Farm recommended shops... I did a quick search on each of them and this one had the best reviews. They did a great job! The communication was perfect, the did a great job with all the repairs and they even touched up a few other minor marks on the car. I would use these guys again in the future! read more

My car had a small dent, about 1" long. I found the body shop using my insurance app (Geico). When I dropped off my car they failed to give me an estimate. After 3 days they contacted my insurance with the estimate but I had only two options. Pay the $1,200 to continue the repairs or pay a $250 fee for "stopping" the repairs. I had the driver's side door skin replaced on my 2017 Toyota Highlander, sadly the quality of the work done at this shop is very poor. They bent the window trim trying to remove it... and instead of replacing the trim they attempted to bend the trim back to straighten it. The finish on the freshly painted door looks like an orange peel, and the highlander badge on the door was reattached crookedly. I ordered a new window trim from Toyota and am going to replace it myself, just so I don't have to take back to them and mess up something else on my truck. read more

I took my Cadillac XT5 to Chilton to repair damage to the liftgate and rear bumper caused by a hit and run while I was parked. I chose them because they are recommended by the Cadillac dealer that is literally around the corner from them. My insurance covered all but the deductible. There were half a dozen minor dings I hardly noticed that were identified by Chilton when I took the car in that were not part of the repair. I also had a scratch on my driver side mirror that I wanted to repair while I was there if it was not too expensive, since that would be out of pocket. I dropped the car off and they gave me an instant quote on the mirror of $100, which was very reasonable. Fast forward 10 days to the day I went to pick up the car. In a word, the car looked beautiful. However, there was a small one inch scratch in the clear coat near the handle on the driver's door which I hadn't noticed before. They checked the record and agreed it was new. So, while I waited, they buffed it out! I drove out with a car that looked brand new. In addition to repairing the rear damage and my mirror, they pretty much took care of all the other little minor dings here and there too. I have to thank Sandy in the office who gave me great customer service, making sure that I was 100% satisfied before I drove away. And also Carlos, who buffed out the scratch and also cleaned up some grease I noticed on the leather handle inside the driver's door. These folks gave stellar service with no attitude or reluctance to respond to my requests, however minor. I endorse them 100% without reservation. I hope I don't have to see them again, but if I have any more body damage, they are number one on my list. read more

No one likes to deal with car repairs, but after 2 experiences with Chilton I have to say they make it as painless as possible. They do a great job, and they keep you updated on progress and completion date. I'm writing this because they went above and beyond on my recent repair. I found a scratch which I thought they had missed, but after seeing photos I realized it wasn't included in the claim. Manager Al invited me to bring the car back to see what they could do, and much to my surprise, and thanks to Ronnie and the team, they made it disappear. At no additional charge! My 2019 Rav4 suffered a lot of damage after a eucalyptus limb fell on it a couple months after I bought it :-( The hood needed to be replaced and the back window was shattered and there were nicks, dents, and scratches all over it. Chilton did a thorough assessment, offered their sympathy and kept me updated on the progress. Overall they did a fantastic job (paint looked great!) but missed a few tiny things which I caught with my eagle eye. They had no problem with me bringing it back for another look and didn't argue with me about the missed spots. This place is awesome. So nice when a place exceeds your expectations! I came in with a Tesla problem--and James was so attentive and kind. He solved the whole problem in a matter of minutes, got me in, fixed it immediately. He even helped me find where to order touch up paint! This was one that I could not seem to solve through Tesla itself! I had loose sensors because someone bumped my bumper. They said I had to buy a new bumper and that touch up paint wasn't available! Oh my goodness this problem had gone on for months and James just took care of it with an easy smile. Highly recommend! Also the front desk was equally helpful! I would seriously think twice about using CHILTON AUTO BODY, Bayswater Ave. Burlingame, Ca. I was involved in a serious automobile accident on January 20, 2022 in San Francisco, Ca. leaving my Mazda Miata MX-5 undriveable, requiring it to be towed from the scene. I didn't have my roadside assistance info on me, so I called my dealership to get the number of the tow service. They provided me with the tow info and requested I tow it to the auto body shop they are affiliated with, CHILTON AUTO BODY. I then called Chilton advising them Putnam Mazda requested I tow my car there. I gave them my contact info and had the car towed there. The tow truck arrives in Burlingame 30 minutes prior to closing, whereby Chilton refused to accept the vehicle stating it had been in an accident. Ah Duh, most car in an auto body shop have been in an accident. They don't have the professional acumen to call me themselves, it is the tow truck driver who contacts me and each time I then call them to fix the problem the phone would be taken off the receiver yet no one would say anything. I called 3-6 times, this is not professional business demeanor, and so very immature to pick up the phone and then say nothing, very non-professional, childish and sophomoric to say the least. Chilton Auto Body left me hanging just before closing on a Friday, this so reckless n irresponsible as I then had to figure out what to do with my car. Mind you I was just in a serious accident, came within inches of being decapitated, I was most likely in shock and I now had to find a work around to a very incompetent sophomoric business called Chilton Auto Body in Burlingame, Ca.
