I was not told to come to the hostess stand to be seated, no friendly greeting when I did approach the stand. Once seated, the chip & salsa dude was quick enough in dripping them off w/out so much as a greeting. Maybe he's the silent type? Who knows? 2 Now the real wait begins.... Nothing to drink nor any sign of anyone even slowing down @ my table to take a drink order. Maybe they were fighting to see who would take my order? ‍ I was almost finished w/the basket of chips, decided what I wanted and LAID THE CLOSED MENU on the other side of the table close to the edge, hoping someone would notice. I had decided if they couldn't be bothered to come by the time I finished the chips I was leaving. Magically a waitress finally shows up w/3 chips to spare. Placed the order for water and dinner at the same time. Dinner came out quickly but looking pitiful w/barely a full tablespoon of guac, tomatoes or sour cream. Cheap bastards! The flour part of the chimichanga was NOT CRISP, & I was given plastic utensils to maneuver this sad plate. I have eaten here MANY times as I live in the area so I am more than disappointed w/this experience. Not a single customer sitting in the middle @ the 4-tops & @ least 7 booths empty; on a Saturday night @ 8:00 pm. Sad that they have lost so much business, I'll think twice before considering spending my money here again.

She opted for a a la cart selection of black bean soup, roasted poblano pepper and cheese tamale, mushroom, cheese and spinach enchilida served with guac and pico. And as soon as our server left with our order, we immediately felt like we should have ordered this or that instead until our food arrived. TBO. Everything was totally delicious. I guess it means we just have to come back more often and try everything else on the menu. My server was amazing even though we did not order alcohol... (I had the worst feeling that since this place was really a drinking establishment for so long that they really kind of expected to grab a Margarita). The bill came with an included 20% tip, which I would always do anyway but i'm still kind of eah about telling me how to tip... politics! I only have one small complaint... I think it's awful some people do not know how to tip and I for one thinks it's only right servers receive at least 18% gratuity for what they do. However, this also comes with a problem I've encountered my last two here, servers who don't pay attention after they take your order. We ran low on chips, didn't see our server until our food arrived, and didn't see her again until she brought our ticket. We asked another server for chips and refills and she brought it to us. On our ticket, the 18% gratuity had already been included. Even though there was a spot for more, we didn't leave extra like we usually do (20-22%). As a former waiter, I can see a real problem with this younger generation becoming complacent with the included gratuity and not trying to give a customer a pleasant experience to which they would want to return. So, Molly's, I love y'all but please get a handle on these kids waiting on us. Please make sure they treat us like the gratuity wasn't included and they might get more than 18%. There's a reason it's called the "service" industry. Restaurant was clean and the food was excellent, as always. We'll be back.

The stars aligned on this most recent visit and so I got to try them. This location in Germantown is a little easy to miss signage-wise, but Google Maps got me here easily. The parking lot is small but paved nicely and easy to navigate. The inside of the restaurant does feel like a deli, with a counter to order at and a small but reasonable amount of seating. The restaurant's accolades are plastered on walls and the glass windows around the food prep area and it's fun to read the history and writing about this place. There is one semi-essay seemingly from the owner, directed at patrons, grousing about customers having certain expectations about the food they're served (Tex-Mex versus authentic Mexican, for example). The owner is adamant that authentic Mexican is served here, and I have no reason to doubt that at all nor expect anything different, but I must admit the tone was rather off-putting. I can see how it would be frustrating to have your food, your work, be misunderstood or misinterpreted, but it kind of felt like I was being lectured when I hadn't done anything, lol. At any rate, I walked up to the counter to order. Service was adequately if not /especially/ friendly. I placed an order for a sandwich (Tortugas de pollo) as well as a limonada (fresh-squeezed limeade) to go. I waited at one of the tables and my order was ready for me in a reasonable amount of time. My favorite thing was the limonada! It had closer to an Icee texture than a juice or limeade texture but I really liked it. Pleasantly sweet and sour and very refreshing. The sandwich was good if not mind-blowing. Maybe my expectations were just a little too high. One problem was that it got pretty soggy very, very fast - it took me less than 10 minutes to get back to my aunt's house and unbox my food and in that time, the bottom piece of bread on my sandwich was close to falling apart. Some of the chicken was also a little too strong-tasting for me; it's hard to describe but I imagine we've all had chicken that's a little too obviously...well, chicken, lol. Not super mild tasting meat, I guess is what I'm trying to say. That aside, I enjoyed the texture of the cheese and the heat of the peppers. The top slice of bread was also nice and crusty. The sandwich came served with a handful of chips less generous than it appears in the photo and some green salsa. The chips were a little over-fried for me but decent enough, and the subtly spicy salsa went well with them. I think the greatest sticking point for me is the price vs. the quantity of food vs. the relative enjoyment. My meal was a solid bit over $30. I prooooobably could've split the sandwich with someone else and been okay, but given the relatively paltry amount of chips, I was also okay eating it as a solo diner. I think if the price had been a little lower, or the portion of chips a little bigger, or the enjoyment of the sandwich a little greater - any one of those things - this would probably round up to a 4. But ultimately the sticker shock and somewhat condescending vibes lead to a lower rating from me. Idk, I would definitely say this restaurant is worth a try and I'm glad I experienced it and would recommend trying it to others who enjoy this type of Mexican food. That said, I'm also not completely confident I'd return on another visit to Memphis. Well, okay, I would definitely for the limonada. That thing was awesome. ;)

Here's your tip! Avoid this ghettttttttto place at all costs! The staff are straight out of orange mound/north memphis and it's always FILTHY. Every time I see the manager (white guy in his late 40s) he's always OVERWHELMED. Brinkers international needs to post his position anonymously on indeed and ATTEMPT to save this train wreck of a location. Chain restaurants in Memphis are always GHETTO AF! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself was clean. The food had good flavor, and I would consider ordering it again. Unfortunately, it was served only lukewarm instead of at the proper temperature, which took away from the overall experience. What stood out most, however, was the presentation of the restaurant. Upon entering, I was greeted by numerous handwritten paper signs and messages written on dry-erase boards throughout the dining area. For a restaurant with mid-range pricing, this came across as unprofessional and distracted from the dining experience. I was also surprised that there was no standard silverware available--only individually wrapped, inexpensive plastic forks and spoons. As I was leaving, I noticed several customers were being served their meals in takeout containers rather than on traditional plates, which further gave the impression of a casual takeout establishment rather than a dine-in restaurant. Overall, the friendly service and flavorful food were definite positives, but the food temperature and the overall presentation of the restaurant left me remembering why I rarely choose to dine at Red Pier. With a few improvements to presentation and attention to detail, the experience could better match the prices being charged.

When I pointed this out she again became argumentative and insisted that I didn't order it that way. Multiple people at the table confirmed that I did request no cheese. At that point, since we were ready to leave, I asked for the order to be canceled. She continued to argue, stating that I couldn't cancel the order, even though nothing had been served correctly. I had no food because it had been taken back due to their mistake. She finally said, "Okay, fine, just leave," which was extremely unprofessional. To make matters worse, other members of my party shared that they've had similar negative experiences with this same server in the past. They also reported that their food wasn't impressive. They never received the guac & other sides they ordered. The salsa was basic and their entrees were simply underwhelming. This level of customer service is unacceptable. Learning that this is a constant at this establishment is disappointing. I will not be returning. ** This issue was reported to the manager; however, the situation was not addressed, and no apology or attempt at restitution was offered.**

I left the server with a bit of advice for the kitchen. When a patron requests an item fixed a certain way or missing a certain ingredient or condiment and you agree to comply, there should be no shortcut. The patron may have a sensitivity or worse, a full blown allergy. Typically food is love, in this case, it was barely like.

The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, which I understand can happen. However, our waitress became visibly frustrated, repeatedly cut me off while I was speaking, told our table, "Look, we're doing the best we can," in an aggressive tone, and even slammed our food onto the table when no one had complained to her. It was weird. After waiting over an hour for our drinks that we ordered before giving our food order even after our food had been served and we had finished eating our meal, I asked the waitress to cancel all of our drinks and shots. Her response was simply, "Perfect." As a business owner for more than 25 years, I know staffing challenges are real. But customer service and professionalism should never suffer because of them. I'm sure the owners would be disappointed to know they not only lost over $70 in beverage sales from our table alone, but also left a poor impression on guests who were visiting from out of town. However there was a sweet older white waitress in there whose name was Karen but definitely not a Karen, who was so attentive, caring and proactive. She's a keeper.

The building alone should bring and sustain traffic if you don't suck. This place is gorgeous! Inside and out! They have an identity crisis going on with it though, you see. I made a reservation through Yelp the day of. I got a confirmation, and then another text asking me to confirm again. I did, and it responded with a supporting confirmation. On the way there a freaking crazy ass straight line wind storm blew through Memphis and knocked the power out all over. 8-22-26 We almost turned around and went home, but were notified by my camera system we had lost power. We called to confirm they had power and dude asked again if we had a reservation. We again confirmed with our name and told them we were on the way. We get there 20 mins later and neck tattoo host guy is like "do you have a reservation, how did you reserve? I tried to call you and tell you that I didn't have a reservation". Yea?? That's curious.. C was beside herself. I believe he got the hint as we were loudly proclaiming that he was being rude and needed to be asked to leave. He stopped after that. Food is what expected. I came for overpriced Mexican and they delivered 100%! C took two bites and was done. No one even asked why the whole plate went in the trash. Mine was edible, but probably because of all of the edibles I had that day. She had some version of chicken Parmesan but with salsa. It came with frozen fries smothered in Pace looking picante sauce. She said it tasted "fake and like chemicals". She offered me some, no thanks. I had the Tres Especial. I should have read more of the description. I saw steak, chicken, and shrimp and just ran with it. It wasn't that bad but it's available across the street at El Mezcal for 1/3 of the price, better tasting, and on a hot flaming skillet. This was essentially cool fajitas drowned in congealed cheese dip. They didn't bring me my corn tortillas, so it got cooler as I waited on those. Then my server disappeared for 25 minutes.
