Nachos with cheese and salsa dip.

Best nachos with cheese and salsa dip ever! Can't wait to be back in Memphis and have these again.

I heard a lot about this place and I've passed it a lot and decided to give it a try! Very good Mexican food and even better drinks. The people were so nice and friendly. This would be a great place for cinco de mayo. The steak Mexicano was very good too! Check them out

    Complimentary Chips & Salsa--Yummy!

The plaza outside looked sketchy, but inside was a clean, authentic Mexican restaurant with excellent service and good food! We were pleasantly surprised.

I really like this location. It's like the old school El Mezcal on Perkins that I grew up with! I wonder if it's still there? There is just something about this place I really dig. I'm not sure why... nostalgia I suppose. Be advised! Parking sucks! DO NOT LET THIS STOP YOU FROM EATING HERE! The staff is great and work really well together as an amazing team. I always get assistance from almost person that was there. They help check on us, pre buss our table, and refill our drinks. I am really impressed with the teamwork! Bravo! Food is always right and always good. It's hot and fresh tasting! They even put peas and corn in the rice! I've had a bunch of really great meals here! The produce is also on point. Avocados and other stuff is super fresh! Chips. Check. Salsa. Check. What more could you ask for??? Free cheese dip! Yes that's what I ask for!!!! Give it to me!!!

I came here with coworkers but it's not a place I would go to on my own as there wasn't anything that really stood out about it. I would come back with my coworkers again if they wanted to. The restaurant had actually run out of some desserts so we weren't able to get much beyond sopapillas. The service is really quick though. The food was excellent and we had a great server (Maggie) who helped us navigate the menu and the array of complimentary sauces. We ordered chips and dip (homemade) and this is not the standard bagged chips with salsa bottle. Crisp and substantial chips with fresh, flavorful, slightly spicy salsa. Really good! Maggie recommended the Birria Burrito with consume for my husband. Wow!!! Loaded with tender and flavorful shredded beef, whole beans, rice, and cheese in a grilled tortillia wrapper with a rich and hearty consume. He has a healthy appetite and still took some home. I got 2 alpastor tacos, which were excellent. Tender and flavorful pork with just enough pineapple. I alsi had a grilled chicken taco that was good, but not as luscious as the pastor. We LOVED the sauces. Yes, you got some mighty heat with a few of these, but they never sacrificed flavor for the sake of heat. Great pickled onion and habenaros, fresh crisp radish and cucumber, smokey, spicy dips. What is not to love!! Churos for desert, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Clean, well lit reasurant. Casual. Friendly service, great parking!! We will be back (and bring friends!)

I still can't stop thinking about the sauce station here. There's a private parking lot shared with the surrounding businesses, and the restaurant has around 15 tables inside. It is a good casual spot if you are looking to dine here. FOOD: This restaurant does not serve complimentary chips and salsa. It is $2.95 an order. 1. Torta Villa Carbon (4/5; marinated grilled chicken topped with grilled onions, grilled pineapple, melted cheese, jalapeños, and avocado): This was huge. I ended up saving half for lunch the next day. The combination of sweet and savory flavors worked really well together. 2. Campechano Burrito (4/5; steak strips and chorizo with rice, beans, lettuce, onion, tomato, and jalapeño): Steak and chorizo are always a winning combination, and this burrito did not disappoint. 3. Chirucas Chimichanga (4/5; two medium chimichangas stuffed with rice, beans, cheese dip, and your choice of meat, served with lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream): I chose the grilled marinated pork (al pastor), which was flavorful and satisfying. The server mentioned that the chicken version is their favorite. The service was decent overall, though it could be slow at times. I noticed a few tables waiting a while before servers came to take orders or refill drinks, and my drink was empty for a bit before getting a refill. Dinner service can get very busy, as every table was once full in one of my visits. Would I come back? Absolutely.

It was great, everything was authentic - but then Molly retired and the new owners moved the location to the hip and popular Overton Square. The restaurant turned into a bar - strong drinks with just OK food. And that was fun, if only you didn't come here to eat. Reciently the restaurant has changed hands and the new owners have turned it back into a real Mexican eatery. Now the menu is awesome, and about half of it caters to vegetarian appetites. And not wheatgrass, and Tofu... this is real Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of pork chicken and beef. There are very large menu. And now, everything you look at it is delicious. I have been coming here since they opened and just now realized, I wanna try everything on this new menu. We had the beef chili rellinos with mole and refried beans, which I don't know how they do it but the refried beans have no pork and taste like they're loaded with bacon. She opted for a a la cart selection of black bean soup, roasted poblano pepper and cheese tamale, mushroom, cheese and spinach enchilida served with guac and pico. And as soon as our server left with our order, we immediately felt like we should have ordered this or that instead until our food arrived. TBO. Everything was totally delicious. I guess it means we just have to come back more often and try everything else on the menu. My server was amazing even though we did not order alcohol... (I had the worst feeling that since this place was really a drinking establishment for so long that they really kind of expected to grab a Margarita). The bill came with an included 20% tip, which I would always do anyway but i'm still kind of eah about telling me how to tip... politics!
