I've order take out here tonight and all 3 of us were super disappointed with our burgers! We have order this same old timer burger before and we always thought it was the best burger on their menu and for fast food chains! Tonight was a different story , it was messy and missing ingredients and look like some one burnt it and smashed and threw against the wall and put the thing together with their elbows!! I didn't even want to call in because we don't live that close to the La Mesa location and we were so hungry , we just put up with it and took a few bites and the rest became dog food and I went to warm up left overs from yesterday! Always enjoy Chili's. The food is good and reasonably priced. They have great good variety of beers on draft. That 3 for me is the deal of the century. On this occasion, the service was great, food met expectations, my only issue was the wait and seating. Checked in party of six, TWO BOYS, 5 and 7, told 20-30 mins, fair, it was busy. You can see your place in line here at Yelp, we were 8th, 10 mins, 4th, making good progress, pretty sure we would be seated soon, even saw a table and told my grandson there is where there are going to put us. Now they start seating party's of 2, 3 even four that came in after us. 15 mins, we are on deck. Great, 20 mins, (boys 5 and 7) no call, table i saw, empty, 25 mins, nothing, table empty, people arriving being seated. 30 mins, nothing, etc. etc. finally i walk over and comment, excuse me, it has been 35 mins, people who came in 4 mins ago are being seated, are we still on there? There we were, she says just a moment and literally takes us to the table that has been empty for over 30 mins??????? Server was great!! Speed was great, for us two games for two boys. We had Lexi as a waitress today. The food was good. But Lexi gave us attitude !!!! We come here a lot & we have had Lexi before. Today she was very rude & gave my daughter attitude for getting her order wrong. She rolled her eyes several times and wasn't being very friendly or welcoming. She gave us attitude by not bringing a spoon so my grandchild couldn't eat his food I had to ask a second time and she said she was busy. Started with chips and salsa, Chili's chips are the best. So thin and crispy! Added a skillet queso because I can't go to chilis and not get skillet queso. Delish. I had the el presidente margarita and my friend had a Long Island. Shirley Temple for the little one per her request. The triple dipper was great. My usual Chili's go to. Got a old smasher burger, I ate half and got terrible stomache pains afterward, i took the other half of the burger home and when my girlfriend looked at it it was very pink inside, i didn't notice when i was eating, it has now been 6 days since and my stomache is still not 100%. I love chilis but my experience from this location was terrible, i recommend finding a different location. I will never be back to this location and will be staying away from all chilis locations for a while. Make sure to check your food is fully cooked and if it tastes a bit weird don't keep eating. On top of this the service was terrible, our server rushed thru our order and walked away before we could order alcoholic drinks, so I just didn't order a drink. No one came to our table asking if we needed anything after that, we had to flag down our waitress to get the bill because the kiosk at the table didn't have our bill on it. The chicken wings were so overcooked you could not chew them. They were tough like leather. My husband also tried one and said that it was not edible. He told the server about the overcooked chicken wings. But the server did not do offer to do anything. Sometimes I try the same menu item a different places to see who does it the best and lately it's been fried mozzarella cheese sticks and much to my surprise Chillies does the the best!(so far) Kind of random I wouldn't have thought they would have been soo good but after having these most places for some reason are doing them wrong. Slightly disappointed- food was okay and ambiance was boring. I've been to better chilis before. What threw me off was that when we went to pay our bill the tipping was WAYYY off. I'm unsure why but could definitely take advantage of a drunk person or someone who isn't paying attention. For example - my bill was $25.80 and I selected a %20 tip which should have been $5.16 NOT $12.33. Unsure if this was a mistake on my part but definitely sus. The only reason the night brought me here was a gift card... and let's just say the next one I get I will be regifting. Joined the waitlist on Yelp, upon getting to the restaurant my party was seated promptly. We love that! Time stamp this at 6:20pm. We take a few minutes to look over the menu, a young man passes us and tells us he'll be with us shortly. 20 minutes later, still no server. We see the man again, flag him down and he comes to tell us he actually isn't our server and that ours will be with us shortly. Finally, our server comes by around 6:45pm. Comes and takes our pretty simple order, at least that's what I think.... Right. About 5-10 minutes later a pasta we did not order comes out and we look at the lady confused and let her know that's not our dish, she goes over and tells our server to correct it on his end. I wanna say about another 10ish or so minutes goes by our appetizer comes out. A little while later we finish our appetizer... still no entree to be found. At this point, I'm annoyed ready to walk out (as I probably should of at this point) our server was no where to be found. We flag down yet ANOTHER waitress/server I don't even know at this point she looks at us confused and flustered herself. When she walks away and we can hear her bickering with our server telling him he basically never fixed our order and he was basically doing that at that moment. He comes by the table and says he's sorry and will get a so called "rush" on our order. It's now about 7:30pm and our food FINALLY comes out, you would think we would be excited right? WRONG. Our food comes out pastas cold, shrimp is cold... just ridiculous. Went here for a casual date night, I called ahead to check the wait time for a party of 2 and the guy who answered the phone said no wait time and they meant it! As soon as we arrived, the hostess Kaden (shout out, girl!) saw a booth that was vacant but not cleared yet and she was ON IT! She cleaned it in 60 seconds tops and we were seated basically instantly. Our waiter Zach was fast too! I mean it isn't that hard to make a burger right? Anyway, when he got back, he was pissed. He said it was terrible. I offered to look at it and saw that it was way overcooked. I took a couple of bites and it actually was crunchy at the ends from being burned. In fact, there was so much crunch, it hurt my gums. I told him to take it back, but he did not want to make a fuss. I am not sure how this even happened. Usually burgers are undercooked, not over. Did they re-cook a previous burger? It was like a hockey puck. He told me they did not ask him how he wanted it cooked. So I guess unless you specifically say to not burn it, they might. So, if you order take out, please check your order before you go. I am only saying this now because the side of my mouth still hurts from being cut on the charred portion. Chili's is chili's. Nothing exciting to write home about. Customer service was good. Food was good. Haven't been here in some time. I typically get my usual which is the ribs. Surprised they had Elote available as a side for the rib combo. Highly recommend getting a double dose of the Elote versus getting the fries! It was DELISH! Ribs were a little scarce on the sauce but, still fall off bone tender. Burger patty was cooked to perfection, super juicy patty and not overcooked! Had great attentive service, food was very filling and. Came out just right. Nothing too dry or over seasoned, or undercooked. Can't complain about my last visit. Went within the last hour of operations and they took care without feeling being held back from closing... cuz you'd be surprise how many places, more so, employees make a face or can be heard complaining that they have last minute customers coming in. Chili's is always a good time with friends and family. They're affordable and kid-friendly. They have a great Happy Hour menu. There are decent low calorie options and there's a usually a Pick 2 or Pick 3 deal going on. There's something for everyone here. Yes, they're a chain restaurant and yes, it gets crowded and can be noisy but it's also consistent and reliable. This is 100% for service at the bar during lunch, which I thought had long been forgotten at Chili's or pretty much any other restaurant. In past years, I've been there at off peak hours where bartender had hardly any biz, including service bar, and still took 5 minutes to come get order, never came back to check on it, and provided no refills. Once food arrives, you need to send up flares to ever get their attention again. Pretty common, actually. Tell a manager, and well, they couldn't give a s**t. 180 degree flip this time. Fun, pleasant, friendly bartender. Immediately took orders from me and other customers arriving. Ordered a drink, bam it's there. Ordered a salad, bam it's there (from supper servers). Came back to check how things were. Wow. And again. And again. And again. But pleasant and friendly. The chicken sandwich for the threefer meal was meh but big, but it's Chili's and you can't beat the threefer deal. So, haven't been there for a while and this was a different bartender from years past. Maybe mgmt changed, too.
