The service at Marieta's is fantastic, from the moment I walked in. The staff at the front are quick and welcoming, and as soon as we were seated, we were given a large amount of fresh chips and salsa. In my previous review, I mentioned how good the salsa is. It's still true today. When we almost finished our salsa, they brought us some complimentary chorizo beans with some cheese to dip our chips in. That was also delicious. This time, I ordered the steak fajitas and a mango margarita. The steak fajitas are definitely larger enough to be sharing size, and their flour tortillas were homemade! Both were good, but I will say that the steak was quite dry today... I think I was overcooked. However, my mango margarita was delicious and strong, and only $8.75! A great deal for a margarita compared to other stores.

My first time trying the food is from UBEReats. It was so good and great $ for all the food they gave you. My family and I decide to come back to eat at the restaurant. The service is amazing!! The staff really takes good care of my family. The restaurant has a homey feeling. They also have a couple of TV with one playing football game. Now the important thing, the food! I've been wanting to try the albondigas soup and I was not disappointed! It was the best albondigas soup I've ever had. Perfect amount of vegetables and meatballs with a hint of lemon. The Chile rellenos is also amazing!! The rice and beans is very good!! The dessert is delicious!! Great portion!! FYI the flautas is a must try!! We enjoyed our meal and we will be back to try more dishes!

It had been a while since I've been to a Marieta's. I used to go to the Bonita location now and then, but the La Mesa one is closer now. So glad we went back! It's just good food. The enchiladas were great. The service was fast and friendly. The dining area is comfortable and clean. We had a couple margaritas as well and they were very good. I'm definitely going to have to work this place back into the rotation! You can't go wrong at Marieta's!

I apologize in advance but I will not hold back... i am 14 yrs old however, what i experienced today at this restaurant changed me as a person. after a long, exhausting day, my family and i weak, hungry, and full of hope... made the fatal mistake of eating here. the service? tragic. the chicken? drier than the sahara desert during a heat wave. the quesadilla? so oily it could legally be classified as a hazardous material. i took one bite and felt my lifespan shorten. this is not a review. this is a warning. i do not recommend.

Two stars for sustenance and warmth of burritos This place is disgusting, California burrito had overcooked meat and like four fries, zero flavor, and the flan is like a rubbery piece of nothing sugar, missing the whipped cream made it even worse and they use STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI PUREE for the add strawberry option... Even though I got this for 30% discount I will never eat this crap again Also don't expect a warm greeting if you're not a regular, I was greeted with what do you want? While the people behind me were greeted warmly with a hey good to see you lol I usually tip a few bucks and this guy definitely didn't deserve anything from me... Also considering when I called to see if my 2 nasty burritos were ready 30 minutes later, which were not, he sounded like he hated his job

My friends and I met for lunch at Marieta's because it is near my friend's office, and she only had a little time for lunch. When I first arrived, I was confused, as the parking lot to the west, isn't really a parking lot and I couldn't figure out where to park. Later, I realized that the main parking lot is just to the east. I noticed that they do not appear to have any outdoor seating, however the restaurant is a good size with a main dining room and a bar area. It was moderately crowded during lunch. We sat in a booth in the bar area. The restaurant was cute on the inside. It had the vibe of a typical Americanized Mexican restaurant, and appears to have been around for a long time. Service was prompt and professional. I chose the house margarita which was pretty good. We were given the bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad, but I prefer something a bit thicker with pieces of tomatoes and other veggies, whereas this had a watery consistency. My friends both ordered different enchilada platters from the lunch specials. They were a large and plentiful, and they had food left over. I, on the other hand, was craving a fresh salad. I chose the shrimp salad and was very disappointed. It was small in size and came in one of those tortilla bowls. It was basically only a lettuce mixture with the shrimp on the top. The did give me a generous portion of shrimp, but each was very small. It did not fulfill my craving for a big fresh salad at all. It really felt like there was no effort at all put into it. I might go there again if it is convenient to meet friends, but I would definitely not recommend the salad. It is probably best to stick to the margaritas and the daily specials.

We had driven past this restaurant for years but a friend suggested it so my sis and I dropped by on a whim. It was so fun! The waiter was great but the food was excellent and the Cadillac Marg was so yummy! We got toasted and I ate my next overs the next day. And they were even better! I love home made tamales and have never experienced good ones in a restaurant . Marietta's has them. Mmmmm So I took my son there and will continue my eating there for Mexican food

Have a hankering for some tasty Mexican food? Swing by Marietta's and satisfy your cravings! Their vast menu caters to all, and let me tell you, the chicken fajitas I enjoyed with refried beans and rice were served sizzling hot. We also ordered the shrimp fajitas also equally awesome. It's no wonder this place is a top pick in East County!

Anyways, we ordered another shot to take as we were vibing out and enjoying our ceviche when we were told that "we've had too much", since we had not yet ordered our entrees. I have been here more than 20xs in the last 6 months. I've been HAMMERED, I've been sober, you get the point. Never once have I been told of this "policy". Never once have I been cut off or warned. From the second we got here, the bartender was rude. He wasn't the main bartender, but that's neither here nor there. Every interaction we had, he never made eye contact, never engaged, never NOT seemed annoyed to be there. Anyways, after being told that we needed to order entrees before we were able to get another beverage, I asked to speak to the manager. She came over a few minutes later trying to explain responsible service to us...my best friend and I are bartenders and have been since we were in our 20's. We're now in our 40's and are not sloppy. Anyways!! I am not sure where this came from; had we been acting intoxicated and embarrassing, not another word would have been said. We would have left with our tails tucked and many apologies would have been given. We will never go back. This "policy" has never been enforced in all of the times I have patronized the restaurant, and this fully ruined our evening. We understand responsible service and how to appropriately gauge a customer's level of intoxication and never once were we acting in a manner that would warrant such actions from their employees. Very disappointed by this experience.

The burrito itself delivered. The adobado came through with that deep red glow and smoky tang, the kind of flavor that feels like it's been tended to, not rushed. Fold that into fries, cheese, and a tortilla doing quiet, reliable work, and you get a bite that hits all the right notes. Rich, bright, salty, satisfying. The burrito was very delicious, I liked the little shredded lettuce and pico that they had on the side of the plate. If it was in the burrito that would have made it even better. The salsas were restocked and delicious! I loved the green one and the extra hot was a fav of my mom. I also really enjoyed the carrots! The only thing was while I was eating the burrito, I bit into something hard and I took it out -- it was a piece of a bone. It was shaped a little bigger than a pebble. I didn't know it was possible to have bones in carnitas/a burrito. Idk if that's the norm, because when we mentioned it-- the woman working basically casually continued her napkin sorting or whatever and said "oh okay.." lol this made me think this was just another everyday occurrence. Although, a little more acknowledgment would have been better on her end. For this specific experience, 3 stars, but truly a 4-5 star taco shop! Overall, minus the bone, and the dry response...the food was great! Salsas fresh and restocked, they had way more options than usual. The horchata was a little too sweet, but overall refreshing. Apparently, the restaurant has been open here since 2004. And the real star? Our server, whose name I cannot recall. He was equal parts waiter and comedian, a very kind man who was highly attentive and extremely helpful. If you like spicy salsa, be sure to tell him to bring you the good stuff from the back (after he offers you bland Tapatio). The menu is absolutely massive. They have breakfast burritos, breakfast plates, chips and fries, shrimp plates, soups (check with the team about offerings, like caldo de res), tortas, quesadillas and a kid's menu and more. I highly recommend the cheese enchiladas and the chile relleno. The chile relleno is especially good. It isn't your soggy, cafeteria-style relleno drowned in red sauce and regret. It is the best comfort food, and Panchos does it well. There is a generous melt of Oaxacan cheese, the batter is very light without being greasy. And then there was the ranchero sauce! Tangy tomatoes, a hint of garlic, and a tiny bit of chili. So very good. Also popular on the menu is a pitcher of margaritas, which you should plan on sharing with three others. The mango margarita is also quite nice. And they also have a Baileys & Coffee. And you can easily get a delicious, filling meal for $20 or less. All around, a great place.

I feel like the reviews are biased to the portions and price but not quality. I want to contribute my honest review without coming off as some food snob. I had no issues with the service (the staff seemed like people I could vibe with daily) and really wanted this place to be my loyal go-to. I've lived in the area for over 23 years and wanted to try something different after exhausting pretty much all butrriro options, so I checked out some online forums for recommendations. There are a lot of burrito spots around, so it's easy to overlook this one. Still, it kept popping up in people's suggestions, so it seems to have a loyal crowd. The California burrito and the breakfast burrito were mentioned as the best options. Maybe I'm late to the party, but after trying their California and breakfast burritos, I was surprised by how bland and dead the food tasted. The carne asada lacked flavor and freshness, and the potatoes in both burritos were very stale, mushy, and bitter (as though eyes / dark spots were present). Both burritos were missing something. People said the red salsa was supposed to be great, but it didn't add anything, and neither did the green salsa. Both just tasted flat. What really surprised me was the "famous" breakfast burrito that so many people rave about. It should be one of the easiest things to get right, but it tasted watered down. Maybe it was the onions and potatoes? I couldn't enjoy it unless I covered it in the bland red and green sauce just to make it edible. I even wondered if the eggs were processed or imitation (I'm no stranger to cafeteria food). I do understand that the majority are struggling, so this may reflect the quality and lack of taste. I've been all over San Diego and been in some financially rough areas that managed to stay afloat while still providing life and love by using locally sourced ingredients. So I feel like this place just lost motivation and wants to fill you up instead of giving you an experience.
