Hubs had a Cadillac margarita and I had a Cabernet. Chips were fresh and warm, salsa was perfect, not too spicy. We ordered the #13 and #14. #13-Taco and chile relleno with rice and beans. #14-Taco and cheese enchilada w/rice and beans. I asked for the green salsa and wow was it delicious!! Mild as far as spice level but very flavorful addition to my rice and beans. Taco had lots of beef, delicious!! Enchilada was yummy too as were rice and beans. Luis, our server, was friendly, quick with food, requests and had a good sense of humor about him. Quality food, drinks and good atmosphere keeps us coming back! We came to this one hoping for better service than we have received at the one in Alpine recently. Definitely not impressed. They were slow and not very busy . Food was ok , not a wow experience. Friendly server , just the rest didn't align so only 3 stars . I would rather continue going to the one in Alpine for now . read more

The service at Marieta's is fantastic, from the moment I walked in. The staff at the front are quick and welcoming, and as soon as we were seated, we were given a large amount of fresh chips and salsa. In my previous review, I mentioned how good the salsa is. It's still true today. When we almost finished our salsa, they brought us some complimentary chorizo beans with some cheese to dip our chips in. That was also delicious. This time, I ordered the steak fajitas and a mango margarita. The steak fajitas are definitely larger enough to be sharing size, and their flour tortillas were homemade! Both were good, but I will say that the steak was quite dry today... I think I was overcooked. However, my mango margarita was delicious and strong, and only $8.75! My first time trying the food is from UBEReats. It was so good and great $ for all the food they gave you. My family and I decide to come back to eat at the restaurant. The service is amazing!! The staff really takes good care of my family. The restaurant has a homey feeling. They also have a couple of TV with one playing football game. Now the important thing, the food! I've been wanting to try the albondigas soup and I was not disappointed! It was the best albondigas soup I've ever had. Perfect amount of vegetables and meatballs with a hint of lemon. The Chile rellenos is also amazing!! The rice and beans is very good!! The dessert is delicious!! Great portion!! FYI the flautas is a must try!! Got some chicken tortilla soup delivered for lunch yesterday and the large size was enough for two lunches. Comes with delicious tortilla strips to put in and a flour or corn tortilla on the side. Broth is very delicious with the perfect amount of spice. Some suggestions to kick it up a notch would be more veggies and avocado. Maybe some cilantro would enhance the flavor. read more

Went here for lunch for my wife's birthday honestly had a bad experience we found like long hairs in the salsa, and food. it had been at least 5 years since I last ate at the LaMesa Ma4ietta's. my friend and I went for breakfast. I had the machaca egg breakfast. it came with corn tortillas,rice and beans. My eggs were so hard and overcooked. The machaca was okay. Nothing like I remember it. The salsa was mediocre at best. The water was room temperature and tasted like rap water. A few hours after I got home i felt like i swallowed a rock. I was awakened in my sleep with a terrible stomach ache and nausea. It took me 48 hours to get it out of my system. It was the machaca plate and salsa as it was the only thing I had to eat that day. Never again. Terrible food experience. read more

It had been a while since I've been to a Marieta's. I used to go to the Bonita location now and then, but the La Mesa one is closer now. So glad we went back! It's just good food. The enchiladas were great. The service was fast and friendly. The dining area is comfortable and clean. We had a couple margaritas as well and they were very good. My friends and I met for lunch at Marieta's because it is near my friend's office, and she only had a little time for lunch. When I first arrived, I was confused, as the parking lot to the west, isn't really a parking lot and I couldn't figure out where to park. Later, I realized that the main parking lot is just to the east. I noticed that they do not appear to have any outdoor seating, however the restaurant is a good size with a main dining room and a bar area. It was moderately crowded during lunch. We sat in a booth in the bar area. The restaurant was cute on the inside. It had the vibe of a typical Americanized Mexican restaurant, and appears to have been around for a long time. Service was prompt and professional. I chose the house margarita which was pretty good. We were given the bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad, but I prefer something a bit thicker with pieces of tomatoes and other veggies, whereas this had a watery consistency. My friends both ordered different enchilada platters from the lunch specials. They were a large and plentiful, and they had food left over. I, on the other hand, was craving a fresh salad. I chose the shrimp salad and was very disappointed. It was small in size and came in one of those tortilla bowls. It was basically only a lettuce mixture with the shrimp on the top. The did give me a generous portion of shrimp, but each was very small. It did not fulfill my craving for a big fresh salad at all. It really felt like there was no effort at all put into it. I might go there again if it is convenient to meet friends, but I would definitely not recommend the salad. It is probably best to stick to the margaritas and the daily specials. read more

Chips and salsa were very good - salsa had a nice kick to it without being too much. Chips seemed homemade and fresh. I love a good enchiladas rancheras and this place delivered! We've always had great meals at Marieta's La Mesa but our meal last night was very disappointing. I ordered flautas and they were soggy with mushy meat inside, the rice was dry and the beans were awful, almost like they were cooked in rancid lard. My husband ordered a chimichanga and said it was terrible. We did have ceviche which was good. The server didn't ask if I wanted chicken or beef and forgot to bring my husband's tortillas. I will be back soon. Place is uber clean. We dined in. Bathroom was super clean too. Service was quick and friendly but not intrusive. They also have an exterior dining area. We sat down right away, gave us chips and salsa but no water, our food even came in still no water. Then when we finally got the water it was tap water. It tasted so weird. Food came in and it was a disappointment. I ordered beef fajitas, first of all the plate wasn't sizzling at all.
