I was at the mall today and needed to grab a quick bite, so I checked out their app and was pleasantly surprised to see they've updated their menu again. One of the biggest improvements is the expanded build-your-own options, and even better, they've added protein bowls for those of us who are tracking our macros! I ordered the double protein bowl, and it was both delicious and surprisingly filling. My order came out quickly, and the two employees working behind the counter were friendly, efficient, and had everything ready in no time. The restaurant was clean and the salsa bar was nice and full. I'm really happy I decided to give Rubio's another try. Well, it was Cinco de Mayo and taco Tuesday on the same day and I thought if I ordered on the app at 11:30 that my food would be ready quickly, but it actually took much longer than the promised 10 minutes. It took about 25 minutes for my food to be ready. The employees were all very friendly and handling the crowd very well and no one seemed upset. I think everyone was happy to be enjoying Cinco de Mayo and eating their tacos. I enjoyed a fish taco especial and a steak taco with all the salsa bar trimmings and my dear friend just wanted one of their fish especial tacos. I placed my order with Alicia at the Rubio's Coastal Grill for my lunch today. My order includes a 2 Pollock Fish Tacos Especial Plate with Refried Beans with Tortilla Chips. Then I ordered one regular size cup of Iced Tea. My total cost $11.00. Today is Taco Tuesday! This Pollock Fish is deep fried with breading mix and is crunchy on the outside and is a huge piece of fish and tender and flaky on the inside. These Pollock Fish Tacos are so delicious and healthy! The Refried Beans are small size container and very tasty and filling. Also the Tortilla Chips are crispy and have not Salted. The customer service I received from Alicia was very friendly and helpful to me. This Rubio's Coastal Grill was very busy today during the lunch hour. I also wanted to mention that Rubio's Coastal Grill was celebrating a 9 year old girl's Birthday yesterday at 1 PM she was with her father only . I saw Alicia the server walked over to their table they were sitting at the next table over on the left side from me. Alicia brought this child a one Chocolate Fudge Brownie with one candle on it. Then Alicia asked all their customers to sing the Happy Birthday to You song. Everyone was singing this song then when we finished singing everyone clapped in happiness for this Birthday girl. I noticed her father gave his daughter a silver necklace for her birthday gift. Alicia gave this 9 year old girl as a gift a stuffed Taco Toy it had a face and a smile on it. It was cute! Rubio's Coastal Grill does celebrate their customers Birthday. That's great for me to know. I will definitely come back here again soon. I took one bite of the lobster taco, and I had some sort of instant indigestion problem. Moreover, If you're ordering anything, like a quesadilla, be prepared for something almost like hard cheese, when it arrives at your door. We also had a problem with the portion size of the regular Mexican Rice and Beans, less than a quarter of a cup for more than $2.00. It's been more than 3 years since I last ate at Rubio's. I got the Mexican Street Corn Bowl with steak and chicken for $13.99 and a soda bottle for $3.79. I stopped by here the other night for dinner. I got my food and went home as I ordered it for a takeout .when I got home three out of four of my tacos had something bluish green in the end side of them on the tortillas.. As I couldn't tell if it was mold or not, I didn't want to risk it so I drove all the way back over there and got a refund while I was there. I noticed the guys in the back were eating in the kitchen as well as had no gloves on. The ladies in the front didn't give me any issues to return and get a refund, but I did notice later on they returned only $26 when I original paid $28. But then you wait like...20 minutes for a kids bean and cheese burrito. And you walk to the counter to ask "hey any word?" And you get the CRAZIEST eye roll response. "Yeah we'll get to it" Look my dude, I know this is fast food. I'm not trying to be picky. But I have one kid finished with their meal, and the other kid just eagerly awaiting theirs. The whole place smells like urine--which I didn't notice until after I ordered; otherwise I wouldn't have stayed to eat. When I got my order, it was wrong. The girl who delivered it was a bit rude when I told her it was not my order (I could tell just by site). She insisted it was mine. It wasn't. Still she insisted it was and gave it back to me "after taking it back to the kitchen". It definitely wasn't my order and it was gross. Cold. Not tasty. Disgusting. And so disappointing. I got the Mexican corn bowl and when I mixed it all up there was no corn and so we showed her and she said well it's usually on the bottom we told her it was all mixed and then we asked for a side of corn she told us no we need to talk to the manager. The burrito was good but what made me lose my appetite is the side of cold stale chips, so I go to ask if I can replace my cold chips with warm fresh chips, the manager "Angel" told me they don't keep their chips warm at this location because the warmer doesn't work haha. Well I would highly recommend you fix that because rubios is good but for the price we pay we deserve fresh warm and not stale chips as a side. I ordered a lot of food online last night because we were starving. My husband went and picked up the food and was right on time. We are a family of five. We ordered the loaded steak nachos, loaded steak fries, original two taco fish meal and the family burrito deal. The order came to $98.00. It was expensive, but I knew it would be for the amount of food ordered. By the time the food got home, the nachos, fries and tacos were straight up cold; okay no big deal--heat them up. The biggest bummer and the reason for the low rating is that the four chicken especial burritos in the family burrito deal were filled with barely any guacamole and all rice. In each burrito, there was literally two tiny chunks of chicken. We paid soooo much money for ALL rice and NO protein. The deal is 55 dollars for 4 burritos with chips, beans and rice. For a 13 or 14 dollar burrito, they should be adding something substantial. Next time, I will choose a taco shop where I can get some meat and guacamole. read more

When I think about Rubio's I pretty much view it as mediocre food, like most chains. This particular location is just bad all around though. The management is poor and they have a lot of excuses for the constant failures, but I'm not buying it. It's always been a lousy location with even lower quality than the others. I never thought I would say this, but this place was better as a Wendy's. I can't remember when I ever had a pleasant experience here, so maybe that's why I only ever get takeout from here when enough time has passed since my last visit, only to then be reminded that my feelings were, yet again, validated. They never get the food right here, and even worse is the customer service. I don't bother with bringing complaints to anyone here, because I've witnessed how crappy they behave with other people.
