A bit disappointed. We went for a light lunch and ordered the "Triple Dipper" appetizer and a cup of chili to split. First came the chili. It was actually chalky with cumin but it was also cold. I usually don't send back food and want it taken off the bill, but it really wasn't tasty and they had the chutzpah to serve it cold so we requested it to be removed. We literally each took a bite. The Triple Dipper wasn't bad at all. I love the South Western egg rolls. Here's the part that chapped my ass. We asked for the check and our server directed us to the kiosk on our table. I have previously had orders delivered to my home due to me being disabled. Now there is a $25 minimum for delivery service. Guess I'll have to find another. Very disappointed! While in the area Saturday 3:4:23 around 7pm I stopped at Chili's I cannot remember the last time I did has been years especially this location. Went to the take out section the young lady there was on point trying to get that section moving. it was busy drivers waiting for their orders for deliver plus the regular restaurant order wasn't busy where there was a line to wait to be seated however the kitchen was busy. Considering the busyness at the takeout my wait time was not bad. Now the biggest thing for me was having access to see the kitchen and how everyone was without gloves touching the foods, their clothes and body parts or hair. Two went to bathroom in the midst of preparing food no paper towel to indicate they dried their hands etc and back to preparing food. Those bathroom knobs etc. are filled with germs. I was applauded and in dismay there was a manager or some shift team lead there and they too was gloveless and without mask Public Health and Safety isn't a concern in these food establishments. The atmosphere very dark setting that hides a lot of things as well as if there's particular in your food like hair etc. since there's no head covering either in the kitchen. At first I Thought that there might be a fillet under this hunk of burnt cheese but to my surprise that's just what it was, a hunk of burnt cheese. IT ALSO included shrimp and they gave me three of the puniest little shrimp and that's it. I feel abused, robed, and hungry as all get out. I will never go back again. They were having a lunch special at the time, so I took advantage! Choice if several pre-selected entrees with one side, choices of house salad or chips& salsa, and a molten chocolate cake all for $10( 2for$20) I got the house salad with citrus-balsamic dressing. What a wonderful start!. I chose the burger with a side of grilled asparagus. Everything was fresh and tasty! Only thing is that I wish I knew the burger had mustard on it, I hate mustard, but I was still able to enjoy it without the bottom bun and some lettuce. The molten cake needed to be heated, and came with three different sauces. What a wonderful finisher to lunch! According to other reviews, the major problem with this location is the service, but luckily we ordered to go. I mean they did forget an item in our overall total order, but it wasn't really a big deal and no one wanted to go back to get it. So maybe stick to ordering out and check your bag before you leave. I ordered pick-up from DoorDash. When picked up my order, the person at the pick up desk was on the phone, she looked at me at started talking on the phone. I stood there for about 5 minutes, and she would not even turn around to ask me if I was here to pick up. So I saw the rack with pick up orders on it, so I just took me order and left. I could of took all the orders on the rack, and she would of never known anything. Ordered take out yesterday. We had an old menu. Ordered a guacamole burger. Was told they no longer offered that but for an extra $1 they would make it for me. We often don't come to chillis in east haven. I stopped by last weekend with my son and husband. We had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes. The food was amazing. Decided to stop at the East Haven, CT location for lunch on our son's birthday. I ordered the ancho-crusted sirloin, very well done. I specifically told them if it was pink at all I would send it back. I do this at every restaurant, to avoid having to send food back. The server asked me if they could butterfly the steak, as she didn't want my steak drying out while it cooked. I said that was fine as I knew it would take longer for my steak to cook and I didn't want my family to have to wait while my food cooked. Our food finally comes out and I notice my steak looks odd, for a sirloin. I cut into it, still pink. I handed it right back to the waitress and told her I don't want another one. She could care less. Did the manager come over? Nope. When she came back we informed her that they tried to pass off a rib eye for a sirloin. She gave us a look that implied she knew what was going on. She neither confirmed nor denied our "allegation". She didn't have to. The look on her face when we mentioned it said it all. Did the manager come over after this? Nope. My wife and my kids finished their meals and we went to pay, but they still hadn't removed my food from our bill, so we had to wait on our server to fix the bill. Did the manager come over? Nope. As we were leaving, the manager then decides to try and talk to us. Seriously? Now she decides to make an appearance? Bad service happens, I get it. Cooks screw up orders, which they did. Trying to deceive and defraud customers is another thing. I don't appreciate your restaurant/franchise trying to pass off a lower quality cut for a sirloin. Not a great restaurant. Slow service and no one is ever at the front to greet, the wait is incredibly long, and the wait for food is long too. We show up on occasion because the kids like the food and it's convenient. But other than that, it's not worth it. Truly awful customer service. I dealt with the nastiest woman I've ever had the displeasure to order from in my life. She was a very snotty girl with fake eyelashes and a fake Valley girl accent. She told me that I should have parked in a To go parking space that was occupied upon arrival. Then she proceeded to call me a liar saying that there was no car there. She mumbled the whole time she waited on me. Under her breath she was saying things like I was inconvenient to her. Rude rude rude as HELL. This is our Go-To place as it has not only served East Haven residents superbly but the community as well. You will always see them supporting the local youth teams, marching band, you name it they support it. We support them for their kindness and thoughtfulness. The way they rally around the community is PRICELESS. Their drinks are quick and refreshing with a variety full-service bar. This is also one of the only places we can go in peace as they have a video kiosk for our grandson that keeps him entertained and not whiny :D We have come to know the servers and manager well over the years and that is another positive. The wait staff treat you like family. My six-year-old grandson gets his hugs from the waitstaff and turns to us and says, "I'll get us a table" he is that comfortable here. Yes, we have our favorites and YOU know who you are.... Hugs Hugs Hugs The food is always prompt and hot ready to go.. We went there for lunch the other day since it's literally right around the corner from our house, and we figured we'd give it one last chance. Well, the third time was not a charm. My buddy and I both got chicken soft tacos, and they were atrocious. The chicken was practically inedible. It was so overcooked it was more like jerky than anything. They also put cheese on my buddy's tacos after he very clearly asked for no cheese. I'll justify my being forced to give it one star because of the $2 draft beers we got. I really like this Chili's. The food is good and so is the services. The staff and management are very friendly to their customers and make everyone feel welcomed. I have never been unhappy with the food here. For those that complain, this is a chain restaurant and they are limited by what they can sell. I go here frequently and I know that they serve good food. For a chain restaurant, this is one of my favorites! I also wanted to state that this establishment also has a special place in my heart. About four months ago we had a plane crash into a house here in East Haven and this restaurant picked one of their busiest days and donated 50%of their sales to the parent of the two children that were killed in this tragic event. This particular Chili's location has let me down in spectacular fashion the only two times I have ordered pickup. Since the second time was earlier this evening I will recount the tale. I ordered online, the dinner for two with the onion petals, chicken fingers, ribs, and the cast iron cookie for dessert. As soon as I place the order I get a phone call saying that they are out of ribs and I will have to change my order to something else. No big deal I say, I'll just get the burger. I didn't think of it at the time but the woman on the phone didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked but in retrospect I should have asked. Now I want to be clear I have no complaints about the particular employee who I was dealing with. That being said when I got inside I could see my food was sitting on the takeout counter and I thought to myself... Great I should be in and out in no time at all. Well the employee at the counter is on the phone with someone who is trying to place an order and apparently they have bad service because they have to repeat everything like 4 times. It takes a full 10 minutes during which my food is just sitting on the counter getting cold and soggy. Now the woman finishes up taking the phone order and turns to me and says she is really sorry but she will have to get her manager to come over and approve the change on my order from ribs to a burger. It is at this time that I ask how they cooked my burger, because I normally ask for it medium rare. She said well done and I asked since I had to wait for the manager anyway, could they throw me on another burger. She said that they were super busy in the kitchen and it would be at least 20 minutes. I feel like she could have had them throw it on at the head of the line since they screwed up my order but whatever. So there I am waiting for the manager for about 10 more minutes... My onion petals are chewy and wet, my burger is charred, and my fries are the limpest I have ever received. All that being said, in the future I will be going well out of my way to go to another location if I ever feel the overwhelming urge to eat Chili's again in the future. read more

Plate chips in THE FOOD! This place is an island of mediocrity in a sea of second rate offerings. This crumbling building is virtually filled with exhaust fumes from the endless sea of trucks and cars hurtling down I-95. It's bearable only when you are too exhausted to cook at home and don't mind spending $40 a person for soggy food and drinks. On our last visit we had a lovely meal of Fajitas and cracked porcelain. Luckily, no teeth were significantly damaged and we escaped without food poisoning. Never again. On a positive note, our server was chipper and happy, but was unable to deliver a complete meal over the course of our stay - which was cut short by fragments of plate in the food. Ug. read more

Before I start let me say that I've been to at least 10 different Chili's across the country, from CA to NY to the airport in Milwaukee. This is the ONLY chili's I've had an issue with. Food: 1 The food tasted horrible. The food looked horrible. I ordered the Chicken Quesadillas and absolutely nothing had flavor or seasoning. I asked the waiter what was up, and gave me the excuse of "new tortillas" that only they were using, and I told her I did not want the food. It was disgusting. She brought her manager and she took it off the bill. She asked me if I wanted anything else, but having already waited 30 minutes for just my quesadillas to come out, I declined. My fiancé food came out 15 minutes before mine. She obviously waited to eat with me until my food came out, at which point, her food was cold. She ordered a steak well done which came out medium well and was not salted, as well as fries and corn on the cob. The corn was overcooked and it was as soft as mashed potatoes. ----------------- Service: 3 We had to wait 5 minutes to be seated when it was literally empty (we also had to wait 30 minutes for our food [see above] when there were only 7-10 parties of no more than 3) The waitress only came by three times. To take our order, to give us one refill, and to bring out our food. She was extremely nice, but come on ... if we have to wait 30 minutes for our food, we're going to need more than one drink. ----------------- To-go: 1 To-go is horrible. This place is outdated and needs a makeover. You have to wait a really long time and there is no place for you to sit. It's right near the bathroom so you have to constantly move to let people go by you. They also take around 30 minutes to get the food to you, so order ahead. read more

Chili's has made a come up recently as one of my dining options...I get a coupon from them almost every week for buy one adult entree get up to two kiddie entrees free. SH***T of course I'm gonna go! DUH!!?? With the Foursquare check in, I also get free chips and salsa. So I get a $25 meal for $10. Who can beat that?! Duh...no one! Even pizza's more expensive. With that said, this is THE BEST Chili's in a 20 square mile radius, expecially for take out. I've been to the ones in Milford, and Hamden and hands down this is the best service, food, and did I mention the four square check in? I absolutely hate the Chili's in Hamden (won't even waste my Megabytes to write a review) and the one in Milford tends to be crowded....the servers are hit or miss. I saw the older reviews, and clearly they did too because they seem to have changed quite a bit, and it's not bad anymore. The ONLY complaint I have is that you're practically playing Frogger to get to the Chili's to go door because the door is right next to the turn in lane for the shoopping strip. #Fail.... #yourarchitect/regionalplannerisblind.
