Let me start off saying I was visiting when I ate at this location but food trucks at the flea market food tasted better. It wasn't bad but the meal I had was cooked fresh overall now I couldn't get with the taco shell. That part of it tasted like straight grease. The service was attentive and straight forward. This is a true hidden gem. It's definitely not authentic Mexican food but for Mexican-American food in a casual setting it is terrific. The food is very tasty, especially any of the tacos, made with good and fresh ingredients and priced very reasonably. The service at the counter is friendly and efficient. Being named Taco Town, their tacos were actually my least favorite thing on the menu. They were just average basic tacos, like i could make at home. Where this placed stood out to me were the Nachos. I liked some toppings (carnitas/pork and ground beef) better than others, but The nachos were always amazing... until yesterday- Yesterday the ground beef Nachos were not good. First, there were more beans than ground beef in the meat mixture . Second there were less tortilla chips than normal. Third this mixture was thrown over the chips to try to cover up the lack of cheese. Excuse me sir, where's my cheese? Yesterday the shrimp fajita wasn't the same either. The shrimp seemed smaller. They were a little overcooked and they lacked that grilled flavor that i previously experienced. I've had the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp tacos before and the shrimp had always been the star, until yesterday.... This was also the 3rd time i brought someone with me to experience the good food of Taco Town and after yesterday they said they probably wouldn't go back. It was their first time and I was so embarrassed because ppl actually listen to my food recommendations. Also, I've never seen the same counter person twice. They are usually friendly with 5-star personality and customer service. But yesterday the girl didn't smile or speak. It was hidden camera television awkward. Taco Town is the latest Mexican restaurant I've tried in my never-ending quest for a great Mexican meal. I'm not alone in my quest though, if you judge by the sheer Number of Mexican restaurants there are now in southern CT alone. Tonight I ordered chicken quesadillas, pinto beans and rice, guacamole and tortilla chips. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. The chicken quesadillas were made with dark and white meat, which is different than most restaurants that use white meat only. I think that using dark meat makes for a more flavorful quesadilla. They had the usual ingredients inside the tortilla wrap along with the chicken; melted cheese, tomato and sour cream, but they were used sparingly, which is a good thing, because wouldn't you rather have more meat than fillers? I know I would. The rice and beans were a nice side dish, the guacamole was the best I've had in a long time, wish I could make it at home like that, and the tortilla chips were hand made and fresh/crunchy. The delivery was right on the estimated time, and came neatly packed with some pico de Gallo sauce. utensils and napkins. Somebody said in their review that the food fell somewhere in between Taco Bell and Danver's. This to me is so unfair, but to each their own I suppose, but if you are comparing one restaurant to two others, can you at least use two that everybody knows? Danvers sounds more like a football team then a Mexican restaurant, but I've never heard of it, so how would I ever be able to compare it to another restaurant? read more

Lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and the food was made to order and in huge proportions. Quality wise, somewhere between Taco Bell and a sit-down Mexican place. Good food, good service. I am always on a mission to find a good burrito. There are plenty of places around that make good tacos but most places in my opinion fail when it comes to the burrito. Too many places over stuff trying to sell me on their size as if bigger tastes better when delivering a gloppy mess of undefined mush . This mercifully is NOT the case at Taco Town. I had no idea what I was in the mood for and I hadn't tried this place yet, so I figured what's the harm in trying it? I had been wanting to try it for quite a while anyways. The girl at the register was very quiet and not very friendly, but she did get our order right. The service was very fast, which is always appreciated. No one else was in there except a couple people getting take out. I got a chicken quesadilla with jalapeños and cilantro (and without sour cream). I also got a beef taco. I have to say I was quite impressed with the amount of chicken and cilantro they put in the quesadilla, but I'm very disappointed in the amount of cheese they put. The toppings were falling out because they didn't put enough cheese in it to hold everything together. The beef taco was pretty tasty, was kind of like chili instead of traditional taco beef since it was a little watery. The chips and salsa were pretty good. I had relatively low expectations for Taco Town but I must admit I was very impressed. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and the service was friendly and professional. The food was great!!! I ordered a ground beef taco with hard shell, a carnitas taco with soft shell, a chicken taco with soft shell and a steak quesadilla. Each item was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were fresh and high quality. I saved the carnitas taco for lunch the following day and it was still very good. I found the prices to be very fair for the quality of food they serve. They also labeled each item very clearly in the take out bag. I would recommend Taco Town without any hesitation. I cannot wait to return!! read more

Don't judge a book by its cover!! My husband and I have gotten tired of chipotle so decided to try this restaurant from passing it on the Post Road a few times. We were blown away!! The prices, the food, and the grade A rating. This is without a doubt our new go to spot. We had beef and chicken tacos, a chicken rice bowl and a cheese quesadilla. Went for the first time today and had the fish salad in a taco bowl. I eliminated the beans and sour cream and added grilled onions and peppers and corn. It was sooo good! The vegetables were fresh and the fish was seasoned well and pan fried. The taco shell was crispy and not greasy. My only critique is I wished there were other lettuce choices besides iceberg. I LOVE tacos and wanted to like this restaurant so much, but sadly I cannot. The restaurant is newly remodeled and looks fantastic! It's very clean, the layout is comfortable and attractive. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful... but the food lacks flavor and that's the most important criteria in judging a restaurant. I ordered 2 crunchy tacos (ground beef) and a burrito (ground beef). The taco shells were nice & crisp, great crunch and the lettuce & tomato were fresh. I did not see any cheese (it's supposed to have cheese). The meat was awful... it tasted like spaghetti sauce... I did not taste any Mexican or Southwest spices at all. -If they got rid of the bland tomato sauce and added some cumin, coriander or garlic, I would give Taco Town another try! The burrito was huge! Good amount of rice, barely any beans inside but again... the ground beef tastes like a bland tomato sauce you expect to find on spaghetti in cheap restaurants. The rice is cooked in the same bland tomato sauce, so even though the size of the burrito is satisfying, it's like eating bottled spaghetti sauce... you're taking bite after bite craving Mexican spices and not getting any. The price, service, dining room, cleanliness, food texture, freshness and portion sizes are great but there is NO flavor (certainly not any Mexican spices/flavor) in Taco Town's food. :( I gave it a try, but sadly, I will not eat here again. read more

My husband and I order from taco town all the time. We are nearing a dozen deliveries of our Tex mex faves. I get the steak salad and I feel the quality of steak is really good. I ordered a steak salad from outback once...very disappointing, especially considering this chain "specializes" in steak. They put a lot of delicious extras on the salad such as guac, beans, pico (so fresh!) and I've never seen a brown piece of lettuce. My husband gets the pork burrito. My husband and I have been here 4 times (once I couldn't convince my family to order from here and I actually stopped on my way to another Mexican restaurant to get a taco from here to sneak on the ride alone) we've had the fish, beef, carnitas and chicken. The carnitas is my favorite here by far but my husband and 2 1/2 year old son always get the beef. The young girl who works the counter is always very friendly m, I believe I've had two different girls and both times they were very nice and friendly. The place is spotlessly clean bathrooms included. We've never once ordered ahead we always do when we get there and the food is made incredibly fast.
