"Serving 100% Mexican Food" Having eaten a number of meals in San Francisco's Mission District - I have to agree. We've been meaning to stop for a while and finally did and could not have enjoyed the experience more. Ambiance is warm, and friendly. Service was excellent. The wait was short. The food portions were generous nicely prepared, and really, really good. Sorry, the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. The sauce tasted like tomato soup with a mild ingredient. Everything was bland and hardly any flavor. The sever was polite. There are too many good Mexican restaurants near by, that I probably wouldn't go back. read more

Unfortunately, my experience has not been very good. I've been here four times. Two times they got my order wrong. I typically ask for sauce on the side they failed to do that. I always ask for corn tortillas and both times they gave me flour. Both orders were to go so the disappointment was too late to do anything about. My fish tacos were literally in edible with the soggy flour tortillas, swimming and mayonnaise based sauce. It was like soup. Mexican food is typically a favorite of mine. This past weekend after a hike we decided to try this restaurant before driving home. We ordered two iced waters and some chips and salsa ($5). The salsa is very bland but thankfully had some hot sauce in the car we used to spice it up followed by some fresh jalapeños from the kitchen. The waitress said most folk in the NE don't enjoy spicy food which we have found to be mostly accurate sadly. The fajitas arrived sizzling with onions, peppers, rice, beans and soft tortillas. We had been curious to visit La Terraza since they opened, so before we went to Rich Farm up the street, we decided to check them out for dinner. The staff was kind, and there was plenty of seating on the main level, upstairs, and outside. One of the first things we were surprised to see was that they had only non-alcoholic options. We asked, and they said they're still trying to get their liquor license and that they're BYOB. I understand, but definitely a little bit of a draw back and unexpected from a Mexican restaurant. The menu had a lot of options, including breakfast which I'll have to keep in mind, and the food came out quickly. The guacamole was prepared table-side, and though nothing was bad, it just didn't beat our favorite in our hometown. I didn't find it to be super authentic tasting, and the rice and beans definitely lacked flavor. Good option to have in Oxford though. read more

Service was top notch. Food was top notch and plentiful. The reformed bakery here in Oxford is an overlooked gem. Has high beam intensive open ceiling to second floor dinning. Mexican theme and paintings throughout My wife and i enjoyed the french fries asada to begin with. Very tasty with a mexican poutine spin. I had the Pozole soup which was excellent and savory and could build as i like with sides of radish, cabbage masa and jalapeños. Wife had the Chimichanga which she said tasted very good. I had the steak fajitas which also was flavorful and sizzling hot. The beans and tortillas were amongst the best i had. Great value in dining. We were so excited to have a new restaurant open up in the old bakery spot and couldn't picture what a Mexican spot would look like in that space. I always wanted to try birria tacos so ordered those as an appetizer and it was excellent. For dinner my wife and I both got chimichangas, me Al pastor with green sauce, hers steak with red. Fillings in both were good, as were the sauces. But the burrito could have been fried a little longer, even accounting for the sauce they weren't very crispy. The rice and beans could have used some more flavor, maybe some hot sauce or something. Kids both got chicken quesadillas which again good filling, but could have been cooked a little longer. The outside of the tortilla was pretty white still. Overall I'm glad they are in town and hopefully they do well. Will certainly come back at some point. read more

I love Mexican food, so I was excited to see this new addition open in Oxford. Casual atmosphere and friendly staff. Complimentary chips and salsa when you are seated. My boyfriend ordered the fajitas, and I was surprised to see they only came with rice and beans. Usually fajitas are served with cheese, and sour cream, guacamole and/or salsa, or other toppings. Sour cream is listed on the menu as a side for $2 and guacamole $5. Guacamole is usually an additional charge at most restaurants, but I was surprised to see sour cream as well. Especially since it is such a commonly ordered item. I got the Birria tacos, which were crispy, cheesy and flavorful. We ended the meal with churros which were delicious. *Of note, no liquor license yet, so only soft drinks and virgin pina coladas/margaritas are served. read more

We tried La Terraza for breakfast a few days ago. Love the atmosphere. My husband did say they may need a separate walk in, because the ice cold air kept coming in every time someone came or left and the seating is all pretty close to the entry. But the decor is awesome! We had the Oaxaca omelettes with french fries. Delicious! No alcohol served yet. But I'll take the hit since the food was good. Next time we will try the dinner and I will update this review. Oh yea,,, I would love if they added Menudo to the menu on Sunday mornings or something! That would be my dream! New place that made it through the 2024 flood (thankfully) and has been open now for a couple of months and we visited for the first time today! The street tacos are amazing - the Terraza version has chopped bacon wrapped shrimp, cheese, caramelized onions, cabbage pico and a delicious chipotle cream - probably the best street tacos I've ever had, and they kindly substituted flour tacos for me! The pork (Al pastor) - marinated in pineapple with salsa verde and a cilantro sauce on the side were a fabulous flavor combination and the enchiladas Suizas were very tasty and unique. The decor is lovely and colorful with flags hanging from the ceiling, a fireplace and a cool looking second floor! The hosts were friendly, welcoming, very much on top of everything in fact the only thing they weren't quick to do was take our money. We weren't sure if we were supposed to pay at the counter. This will definitely be a regular stop on our rotation ... oh and they do breakfast all day too! read more

Man I was so looking forward to an authentic Mexican experience but alas this didn't do it for me. The food had no spice nor flavor for me. Maybe I'm bias because I've been to so many great Mexican restaurants out west in Colorado, Arizona and Cali. This is great if your taste buds tend towards the vanilla spectrum. My husband and I decided to go for Mexican this evening and we happen to be in the Oxford area. We decided on this place because the outside looked appealing. When we entered, the decor was really pretty and festive. It definitely gave the vibes I believe it was going for. The music was also great. The service was also great. It got pretty busy however, our waitress was still very attentive. The reason I gave it three stars is because my husband and I agreed that the food was just OK. Most of it lacked flavor. The al pastor taco for example was not the best. It tasted like they just added the pineapples on top and did a quick mix. It wasn't really a combination of the meat and the pineapple an al Paso taco usually gives. I was not a fan of the corn tortillas at all as well. The churro was a bit dry maybe having it with a dipping sauce or ice cream would be a better combo. The rice and beans lacked flavor and this was honestly my least favorite chile relleno I've ever had. My husband enjoyed his torta. I unfortunately would not return here for food. read more

I was surprised to find a restaurant in Connecticut that was even on the same playing fields, much less could compete, but I just finished a surf-n-turf burrito that would dust some of the places back home. They need to learn how to greet, keep tables pre-bussed, knowledge of menu and questions needed to ask to complete an order, etc. Food for breakfast is very nice. Plating for all meals is lovely with edible flowers. That extra flair should be used in seasoning and being mindful of food/plate temps. I seldom receive a hot plate of food here. This menu is Mexican food that's great on paper but misses the mark on execution. Needs fresh cilantro, lime and chili flavors. Everything is very bland, unfortunately. Tres Leches is tasty. Fried ice cream enveloped in an awful thick pasty crust. Very disappointing. I feel with strong management and guidance in both the kitchen and service....this has the potential to be a gem. I enjoyed the last time I was there but this time I ordered fajitas with no peppers and onions it came with some red sauce on it. I never seen fajitas like that I sent it back and just ate my rice and beans. Looking at pictures on here of other peoples fajitas mine wasn't like that. We did get nachos without onions and jalapeños wanted on the side. They didn't do that there was onions on my nachos I just ate them and they were good . Service was still slow. This place has a ton of potential. Will definitely need to return once they get their liquor license. The food is 3.5/4 stars. Plated very nicely and the flavors of everything were good! For our appetizer we had guac and the taquitos. 5/5 for both of them. The chips are not out of this world, but definitely do fine with the guac being the star. Our entrées were the cubana, barria tacos, and the enchilada. The cubana sandwich was massive, does not need a side and can fill you up completely by itself. The barria tacos were flavorful and had a nice little crunch to the fried shell. The enchiladas were nothing to write home about, but besides that and the chips, all the food was really good. We also finished our meal with a tres leches that was delish! Our server was 4/5 stars. My only complaint was we didn't have small plates for our appetizers. But other than that she was attentive! We have been to this restaurant several times and the service is always great. The food is wonderful, and the decor is very authentic and pleasing. We recently took a friend for her birthday, and I forgot to bring candles to add to her desert. No problem!! The waitress came out with a big Mexican hat for our friend and cake with a candle. Everyone sang happy birthday, and she took pictures for us with all of our cameras. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely frequent La Terraza!! read more

We were just driving by and saw this just opened in place of where the Oxford Baking Company was. We love trying new restaurants so we decided to stop in for lunch. We were greeted as soon as we entered and quickly seated upstairs. The chicken street tacos and chicken torta were fantastic. Soo it's obvious that it's a small family run spot, which really like to see in the area. The food was pleasant enough, a bit average. But that's better then bad food. My steak was seasoned and cooked nicely. Rice was ok and the beans were good. Burritos and kids dishes were very tasty. Staff is pleasant but woefully untrained. No one to seat you, was told to seat ourselves. Had to find our own table which after going upstairs just to find out there's no tables available. So you have to hawk a table while other people are hawking tables. It doesn't set a very good dining at Experience. Salsa was very blah. Plates were served without utensils. Appetizer plates piled up, stayed on the table the whole meal. The dishes or table could use some sauces or hit sauces. Tried La Terraza for the first time. Went in right after opening and we were immediately greeted by the staff. Chips and salsa were served while we waited. Chips were warm and pretty good. Salsa was tasty but lacked any heat (not their fault, just love flavorful heat). We ordered Carne Asada street tacos and Terraza street tacos. The Carne Asada was served on corn tortillas and was good. Definitely needed the side sauces. The Terraza tacos came on flour tortillas and were wonderful. Ordered the fresh guac for an app and got (see attached). The chips were tasteless and the salsa a bowl of water with tomato puree. As for the entrees, let's just say they were sub par... Usually alcohol will make things taste slightly better, but they don't have that either. As for service... she didn't have a clue.
