Bottom line: Chili's would normally get a 2-star from me in civilization, but in Barstow this is about as good as it gets. Specifics: if you are starving, even an MRE tastes pretty good. If you have to be in Barstow, Chili's seems like fine dining. Their fajitas are actually quite good, they have a full bar, and the service is very friendly. There are conveniently located near some new motels such as the renovated Hampton Inn. Seeing as how work takes me to the NTC and Barstow periodically, Chili's is a welcome sight. read more

This place needs some managerial reshuffling. It shouldn't take 9 minutes for the bartender to ask me what I want to drink despite there only being three people at the bar. The bar top was dirty (the entire thing) with crumbs and salt when I sat down and stayed that way for the 45 minutes it took to drink a beer. The couple at the bar actually got up, walked into the kitchen area and asked if he could pay the check. You shouldn't have 3 waitresses standing around BSing with the manager when tables need cleaned and people need drinks, food. I hope they put some focus into their customer service and cleanliness. read more

I usually only go for the dessert ! Chocolate Multon cake to be exact it's so delicious ! But other then that the food isn't to great ! Other people I go with enjoy there food but it's just not for me .... The atmosphere and the bar is always great! Chili's Restaurant has always had great family, friendly and outgoing staff. I have eaten here many times and many community events are held here (Tip a cop, Tip a firefighter, St. Jude's Foundation, etc.). This restaurant not only supports the community, but the staff is friendly and has great food. Love that every month they bring out a new "drink of the month." Sometimes there are longer waits for food but the staff is usually understanding and accommodating with the customers. read more

First off, they got our drink order wrong, we got regular coke when we requested diet. After about 10 - 15 minutes we finally saw our server and got the correct drinks. Then we waited, and waited, and waited some more. Finally a manager checked on us and we asked about our order. Amazingly right after that the order showed up. But, yes there is a but (or two), the food was not hot, and my friend's order was wrong. They did manage to bring the correct order fairly quickly, and, yes, it was hot! We finished the meal, and waited again, this time for the check. Not the speediest Chili's. If you are traveling along the I 15 and want a quick meal, don't stop at Chili's in Barstow. The waitress was nice but no compliments to the chef. I ordered cheese enchiladas when I sat down. Thirty minutes later they appearedvand they were soaked in the saltiest red sauce. I switched to the sour cream ones and it was soaked in clumpy white sauce and cold grated cheese in the middle. Those went back as well. Thirty minutes later my meal comes back. I boxed it up. I got full off of chips and salsa in the hour and a half I waited for my plate. And no they didn't even offer anything but an apology. read more

New to the area so I figured can't go wrong with Chili's for dinner for my family and I traveled from Fort Irwin which is an hour drive I called when I was 45 min away from the restaurant to place my order the lady tells me it will be ready in 20 min I get there and have to wait an additional 30 minutes to get my food mind you I paid in advance and gave a healthy tip I get my food finally I go to my car an check the bag the sauce is spilled in my fried pickles and onion peddles I notice I'm missing the three honey chipotle sauces I paid for so I run in to go grab them for my pregnant wife she loves it I hear a woman say "it was three honey chipotle sauces in his bag" then a male cook yells "we already gave him the fucking sauce" they eventually give me the three sauces I originally ordered if this is how they conduct business and treat the military personnel I will no longer spend money in this establishment and I will also let my experience be known to my military friends stationed at Fort Irwin as well read more

Its not our first choice to eat dinner ... its just walking distance from our Hotel basically in the same parking lot. I am not really excited as we don't really have good experience with Chilis but hubby said if we drive we will loose our parking space so... its either, Dennys, Fat Burger, Carls Junior or Panda Express. I am glad we pick Chilis... I enjoyed my half rack baby back ribs with fries and salad, hubby got a bacon cheese Burger with fries. I am happy... we left Chilis very full and satisfied. apparently chili's is the nicest restaurant in town. i'm not one for chains, especially on vacation, but it was either this or the sizzler. we decided not to risk it. and whaddiya know, it was a great dining experience! we did the $20 for an appetizer and 2 entrees, which is a ridiculously good deal for the amount and quality of food we got. our eyes being ever larger than our stomachs, we also ordered a salad. appetizers: the corn in the guac added some flavor you don't usually get. a nice twist on a simple dish that i eat often. the salsa was pureed- not really my thing, but it was good. the chips were greasy n kinda gross. we ate our leftover dips the next day with some wavy lays we had in the car. cobb salad: a breath of fresh air after all the junk we'd been eating. mmmm...i want one now! entrees: the ribs were just ok. with a jingle so catchy people still sing it a decade later, this should totally be their best dish. shame on them. the grilled scrimp tacos on the other hand were spicy and delectible. i actually ate a leftover taco for breakfast. for breakfast! this from a girl who won't eat anything but breakfast food as the first meal of the day, even if she doesn't get up until 3 pm. drinks: we each tried a margarita- she a "freshest," and me a pomegranate. not bad, but a tad overpriced. service: can't complain. friendly, quick but not rushed, and correct. so the moral of the story is, don't bring a date to barstow. but if you must dine out while you're there, chili's is where it's at. read more

I recently moved to the high desert from central Texas and this being the closest sit down non-fast food type restaurant to ft Irwin I went in not expecting a lot, and left surprised. This was probably the best Chilis meal I have ever had. I had a new fajita dish and I actually ate the whole thing which is not like me...I never finish a meal in a restaurant...even my husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak quesadilla...good job Chilis! Great bar but they like to add on the ice and take too much from the drink. Normal food for the bar and as one Yelper said, it is quite salty. There are not many choices in Barstow that has this atmosphere so it became a normal hang out for me and my crew. It was just ok. Always had to order an extra shot for my drinks as they seemed either too much mix or too much ice. Loved the fact that you could pay at the table and it also calculated the tip based on percentages that the patron chooses. The service is always bar none and we could count on refills and hot food. Parking can get hectic but just go behind the restaurant on the other side. Go for the drinks, stay for the camaraderie. read more

I have been to chi is a few times and the food is pretty good. We got the Carribean shrimp salad which was good and I tried the Sunrse burger with an egg. This burger was so delicious I was scarfing it down and made the mistake of laying the 2nd half down. Bad Idea all the slathering made it come apart so never lay this burger down. read more

We weren't in the door 10 mins and we had 5 different servers which in turn had everything messed. You go into a restaurant and they advertise "Happy Hour Friday 4pm-7pm" and you sit down look at the beer list and Happy Hour prices are a dollar cheaper. (Dollar is a dollar lol) Well you order your beer and you get curious if they charged you correctly for said beer so you look at their table Kiosk at your bill. Nope charged you regular price, no big you ask the waitress about it and she looks at you and says "No that's not for you or anyone that sits on this side of the restaurant you HAVE to sit in the "bar only" area and she walks away. So I sit and think and think and if you know me...I get pissed and called her back and ask why and it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. She just stares at me because I'm getting madder with every word. I feel as though because I brought my family there I was being punished by paying full price, like my family and I were secondary to the "bar only area" Yea I will NOT be going back...and Im a local! The service was extremely slow. You could make a case that they "ran out the clock" on us. From 9:00 PM to 10:45 PM I was able to get two beers, cheese curds and a burrito. The apologies were unsolicited and sincere but the service was still pretty slow. Oh and the mash potatoes appeared to have melted and cooled before the food was served. My husband and I came here on a Monday night since it was one of the few restaurants in Barstow open on a Monday for dinner. There was no wait to get seated. The prices are the same as in Virginia so we were happy with that. The food was also very good but most chili's I've been to have been consistently good.
