    Cool Nicnacs!

A true traditional bar! I don't know how old it is, but it's...intimate. Mr Lee, the proprietor, is a young elder who serves mostly locals and passersby. We enjoyed Vodka Sodas and Modelo Beers while chatting about the area and our trip in Vegas. The bathroom needs a face-lift. A charming bar indeed.

Long ago Yermo was a prospering community that centered around servicing motorists that were traveling along the Arrowhead Trail, many either coming to Southern California or traveling out to Las Vegas and Utah. As anyone who has watched the movie CARS can attest, once you get bypassed by the interstate there isn't much left to keep you a float, and towns and places like Yermo become more history than alive and thriving. Yet, sometimes in these places that time and travelers have seemed to neglect are little treasures that exist that people should discover and breathe life into again because they're just too unbelievably cool to not experience; case in point: Lee's Tavern in Yermo, CA It's like a scene from a movie, the decor is old, the bar dingy, a cat and dog roam about freely, there's the wind and the dust and the odd local having a beer at 11AM on a Sunday. It also has one very strong and extremely to the point Bloody Mary; no there are no frills, garnishments or nonsense, nope, this is a working man's Bloody Mary, and after two, you will be absolutely ready to be back on the long road to Sin City. I hope everyone that reads this review takes a chance and pulls off the road to check out Lee's. You will discover that Lee's has its fans from all over the world and from all walks of life, but there's so many younger locals now that need a place like this in their lives and on their travels that I decided to post this for them (and of course for Lee's register and tip jar) For me this is a "must do" on the road to Vegas. I mean are you getting Del Taco at one of the originals, of course; are you getting a Gyro at the Mad Greek or getting White Castle burgers in Jean or going to the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings? Absolutely you are! Well make sure to add a new stop off at Lee's Tavern in Yermo to the your list of Vegas road trip points! If you love making your trips mini adventures then you'll love Lee's for sure, plus, and I can't believe I forgot to mention this, he's one of these grandfathered in establishments in CA where you can still buy a bottle (at the bar) to take with you LOL! We'll see you at Lee's!

I was at the market next to the bar when I noticed the lights were on and there was someone inside. I never realized the bar was there before. I decided to go in and check it out. I met the owner, Lee, and asked if he had anything for under the $3 I had in cash . He asked what I wanted and I just got a bottle of Bud light. It turns out it was only $1.80! The bar has an old-school atmosphere and it's pretty small, but there is a relaxing vibe and I look forward to coming here again. I already told a couple friends about it so it should be soon.

(4.25 STARS)…read more Memorial Day road trips always seem to create the best random discoveries, and Pit Stop Bar & Grill absolutely delivered. Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. It was simple, respectful, and genuinely touching. See my picture. That detail said a lot about the heart behind this place. If you're making the Vegas-to-LA drive and want something more memorable than the usual freeway fast-food stop, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great atmosphere, friendly energy, and one of those spots you end up talking about later.

Locals hangout! [Randsburg CA]…read more It was a quiet Saturday afternoon when we visited this historic town this past Memorial Day weekend. We were hungry and was hoping that there was someplace to grab a bite here at this mining town. The owner of the Rock and Crystal shop pointed to this "Joint" and mentioned that they make a mean burrito and burgers. While I was still shopping at the crystal store my hubby went over to the bar and asked if the neighboring restaurant could fire up the grill for a couple of cheeseburgers w/ grilled onions (they looked like they were already putting stuff away at 4:30p). They were kind enough to oblige and we got to eat one tasty burger! The burgers were delicious... the grilled onions and seasoning they use really put flavor on those beef patties. Very good! The Joint is a family-owned saloon since 1955 with friendly folks running the bar. Decorated with patriotic flags inside and out. Was probably surprised and not used to seeing a couple of Asians walk in. As we were leaving people were starting to trickle in... looks like the fun was about to start. Found out later that they had a live band entertaining from 8:00p to midnight that evening for Memorial Day Saturday. Fun!! Review #2995
